xTool D1 Laser - Manual Firmware Update and 'The Switch'.

  • Complete walk threw of a manual D1 Firmware Update and the 'Write Protect Switch' that is not on the 'How to do a Firmware Update' page. A rather important step and it's not even mentioned. This switch WRITE PROTECTS the motherboard of your D1. If the switch is one way, the board is protected from being changed. This also prevents updates..(People suffering from Loooong update times or No Sync errors), If the switch is set the other way, the board is vulnerable to being changed. I made this pic to share. It has everything you need to know on it. You might want to check yours and move the switch over to the Reset button side. It is easy to accidently bump it putting the rotary cable in and out. Here is a labeled photo of the switch that you can print if needed.. vipervisuals.net/laser/D1-Swi...

I had the same issue with the firmware not upgrading. I tried and tried and it was like the motherboard wasn't connecting to the pc. Last ditch effort I inspected that mobo and noticed that little black wire with the silver cap was touching the processors housing unit. I turned the wire slightly away from the reset button and I can update the firmware now.

You might want to pull all the plug ins and look down in them closely to be sure one of the tiny pins didn't get bent over. No fan or laser means it's not getting any power. The crosshairs should come on anytime the D1 is on..

The latest video xTool D1 - Unboxing and First Use for xTool D1 shows this switch for ~1second. If it wasn’t for your video, I wouldn’t have known what i was looking at and gone back to pause the video. They did add it to the LaserBox basic screen when you update the firmware that way. If you do it manually using the help page it isn't mentioned, but they give you all the rest of the steps. They aren't much good without step one. First mention of it is on page 20 of the Trouble shooting guide. First place I'm going to look. I just thought it was worth mentioning in case someone else was having the same issues.

It will just clear it's brain and resets everything. Had to use it a few times because the D1 was acting up. Not sure how you would revert back to the old firmware. You would have to get the old firmware update files and even with that it would probably say it already has a newer version installed and quit. Mine isn't broke so I'm not fixing it with the updates just yet.

    Hi friend.
I recently bought my xTOOL D1 Pro; I was working today (26 Feb 2023), when I opened XCS, an update message appeared, which, I confirmed (Update successful). After that, the machine no longer recognizes the USB and is no longer working.
When I click Process in XCS, the following message appears: "The device is offline. Please connect the device."
Is it possible to do a Factory Reset on the machine? I need a solution, please. Thanks

Have you tried restarting everything? Computer and all. Try it again. There is a Reset button on the board but it just resets the basic configurations, not firmware. There is a manual way to reset the firmware. I would check support.xtool.com for the current files and information on that. Hopefully a full restart does the trick.

When you use Laserbox Basic software to Check for Firmware, after you connect the xTool D1 Laser by selecting the COM port, you are prompted with a dialog box that displays the switch and its location. As Viper Visuals noted the switch must be pushed to the left in order to write on the mother board. This is illustrated in the diagram of the dialog box. Your update is done in less than 1 to 2 minutes. Once its done, push the switch to the right to lock any writing on the mother board.

The description clearly says "MANUAL D1 FIRMWARE UPDATE",,, ( I will added it to the title ) This is for people that don't use LaserBox anymore and are told to do a firmware update like I was. When you go to their support page the most critical step is missing. The picture and message were just added to LaserBox not all that long ago. Say something about it and you are the problem.. Seems to be a list of people below that didn't know about it either,.
