This man never fails to amaze me. Al Pacino is the greatest actor Hollywood has ever produced. Whether you give him an Oscar or not, his performances are always memorable. Actors half his age have lost all intensity & passion but look at him! Forget looking for accurate historical facts in the movie, its a drama for God's sake! Sometimes appreciate art for art's sake! Pacino does a brilliant job as always!
Just saw this movie for first time tonight on HBO! I came here to see this great scene again by the Great Al Pacino! Excellent! His eyes alone were insane! I "felt" this scene! Al is THE Best!
Only Pacino could have pulled this off,,,, He nailed it ,,,playing Phil I am sure he must have been close to Phil and hang with him and observe him for some time to emulate his speech and manner
+batts2008 he was so good as phill spector it was so real. better then scar face. another movie I like his shake spear movie. MERCHANT OF VENICE.A POUND FLESH THATS ALL I ASK FOR. I thought he got it two when I saw vincent price version in THEATER OF BLOOD. fantasticly played. POOR SPECTOR CANT EVEN TALK CAUSE POLLITS,IN THROAT. god is punishing him will not let people help him or care about him .cause he never repented. there fore he is sent to be punish and god does not want anyone to help him. I knew this when SPECTOR SAID THERE ALL JELIOUS OF ME . he said that to RONNIE SPECTOR FORTY FIVE YEARS AGO ABOUT BAND WHO COULDNT CARE LESS ABOUT HIM. MAKEN HER LAST FORTY FIVE. WITH HIM.the man is in denial his freinds are gone that protected him and should help him. no one was there to stop him as pulled that trigger in to LANA CLARKS mouth . she did not die suddenly. you know in the eighties I was buyen up all phillies records. and I had feeling this man is gonna commit murder. so dam sad .cause, wrecking crew, really like him. he was likeable at when you watch him talk he was fair at times. but his bitterness cause him to hold royalties and didnt care. BUT BACK TO AL BRILLIANT JUST BRILLIANT!
Why does Al Pacino give the best performances of his later career in HBO movies DAMNIT!!!! His performances in Angels in America, Yoi Dont Know Jack, and as Phil Spectre are his best performances of the 2000s and 2010s
Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys estimates that he’s heard “Be My Baby,” by the Ronettes, more than 1,000 times. The very first listen, 50 years ago this month, still haunts him. “I was driving and I had to pull over to the side of the road - it blew my mind,” Mr. Wilson said, repeating a story that has become something of a legend. “It was a shock.” Just 21 and already frustrated with his band’s basic surf music, he bought the single and set about deconstructing its arrangement and production. “I started analyzing all the guitars, pianos, bass, drums and percussion,” he said by telephone. “Once I got all those learned, I knew how to produce records.” Those records, many fans would contend, weren’t half bad, but if you ask Mr. Wilson, they still don’t stack up. “I felt like I wanted to try to do something as good as that song and I never did,” he said. “I’ve stopped trying.” Mr. Wilson added: “It’s the greatest record ever produced. No one will ever top that one.”
It's a very good pop tune and a well-done recording. It's entertained millions of people dozens or hundreds of times each. A great record? Undoubtedly. Best ever? There are hundreds of others I enjoy just as much. That does't mean they're better or worse.
I just watched this film last night, Al was so good. Once again, you forget that its him. And you kind of feel sorry for Phil too, all of the emotion in his eyes
Amazing Phil had the idea of Pacino playing him in a autobiographical movie in the 70's...Phil was always far fetched and had this great idea, a three part movie with Kubrick, Scorsese and Coppola directing each part with Pacino playing him as an adult...and now not only did it come true, they look a lot alike as elderly men. I love this scene, makes you angry and wanna cry for him and smack him at the same time. Phil was a nice guy with a mental illness bipolar disorder. I feel badly for him.
I LOVE when Al gets cranked up! I have yet to see this and thanks for posting. It reminded me I need to grab a copy. Also recommend his HBO bio-pic of Jack Kevorkian ... BRILLIANT. He even LOOKS like JK.
I hold the world record! for number of times watched! And Justice For All!!!! I love that film, ALL the cast are superlative, I had a very nasty man harm me ( not a brutal rape, but esp since we use terminology more respectfully and accurately now, sex abuse plus...and because I am STILL in therapy etc, suffer nightmares, PTSD, live on medication, lost my university degree- 2 credits short of Honours B.A., unable to hold even a McJob, I thank the universe for volunteer work, helping others helps me SO much ) I "use" the film, "Justice" esp his should have won an Oscar for, final speech! "You are out of order...this whole trial's out or order..." Sadly the TRUTH doesn't come out or if it does, it doesn't "win"...It IS a game and the so-called, lesser person- I tried to take down a rotten to the core, narcissistic, leads a double life, psychiatrist- I know why women don't report abuse much of the time and I know how Pacino summoned up the anger to pull off that incredible bravura performance! I get SO upset by stories in the media, a song a movie, a book, etc, I have often fantasized about getting to have coffee, sigh, with Al Pacino and telling him to get his reaction, I love that man , I know he 's a ladies man, with a bad reputation- well I don't live with him ( I am not attractive) but as one of his most "devoted" such a corny word! fans and from a terrific bio I read, no I am NOT naive enough to believe all I read, but having seen all his films, most, several times, I think he would sympathize- not that it matters, Sorry I bothered you. You tube will be giving me the hairy eyeball again for content and length- people NEED to discuss this sort of thing. Look at poor Phil Spector, mental illness runs in his family, severe mental illness and the music biz is cut throat and add some coke and booze- I am not defending him but I do respect the man- he changed music for the better, forever and I hope he saw Al's wonderful performance and found some peace at last. Thumbs up to 2 geniuses! Namaste, Z ( back to And Justice...!)
What an outstanding performance by this wonderful actor...i think Phil Spector would be proud of him......i still think this whole business is very sad...Phil was a gifted man...and let's be real about this...who knows for sure if he is guilty or innocent...i'de like to think it was the latter!

I want to boycott his music, so he can't get any more royalties coming in to him and his odious wife, but I like his music too much to do that. I watched both trials, and was SO PISSED that the jury foreman and who knows who else in the first trial, actually believed that cock and bull story that Lana Clarkson would actually commit suicide INSIDE his house! What a bunch of morons. I know there were a few more intelligent jurors who didn't buy the lies the defense team tried to present, but because of the idiots, they had to go through a new trail again. I hope you don't seriously think this deranged lunatic is really innocent????

Al Pacino deserves an Oscar! He's amazing. Too bad that poor girl had to ruin God's gift to music in Phil Spector. Still the greatest music producer of all time... Not news. Lana ruined his life to immortalize herself.

Context? A play? Movie? Present? Past? Or pending? Is it good acting? Indeed Pacino compliments Spector by amplifying his flaws and showing his confusion. But what's the point? Are we supposed to sympathize with this coldblooded killer whose bloodlust spent itself on the most vulnerable dreamer of them all--a B-movie actress reduced to a coat-check girl at the "dispensable" age of 40. When she's barely inside his door, he's announces his base intentions--this confused Caliban rising from the muck long enough to express his discontent and then, simply because he had the power to do so, shooting her point blank the moment she's entered his lair. Pacino, he's not worth all of your rhetoric. He's no "tragic hero," he's not even operating at the level of a "monster." But he is a "menace," a fading coke-head all too eager to pull out his pistol to commit the rape his limpid "maleness" is otherwise incapable of inflicting on his innocent victim. True, he was the first of his kind--a Pied Piper to the new consumer youth culture. And now we have more producers than musicians. Recently, I saw Spector's appearance, in the mid-60s, on the Merv Griffin Show. He had little to say while Griffin emphasized this creepy young man's power and eminence. When questioned about his toughness, he said that if his karate couldn't do the job, he had a gun that would. We should have taken him seriously. One of us should have warned Lana Clarkson about him. We should have protected her and come to her rescue. By not doing so we're complicit in the harassment of women who, having been demonized by us as witches, are now using that designation as a badge of honor and a license to exhibit their super-powers to bring down their transgressors. If Spector is no longer relevant (for the past 30? maybe 40 years?), that's the way the cycle of pop music, and the progression to old age, works. But why should we have to listen to him whine? Phil Spector once personified adolescent experience in a way that resonated with the youthful audiences that found meaning in the music he produced.. But he now represents the exploitive, rapacious male who, for thousands of women, is the toxic element they will no longer tolerate. Perhaps Pacino's characterization of Spector will touch a familiar chord in each of us, mirroring our own youthful confusion and leading to recognition of the feminine side that is part of the make-up of every fully developed, complete male.
wow!!! this guy is a ripoff of some of the 70s greats like deniro, palcino, keitel ect. he is trieing to hard. Ok, he is not bad, but the guy needs to learn from his elders and betters

The Godfather was a masterpiece

Stewart’s performances were great, but they are too antiquated.
