Sounds like a brilliant yacht - perfect for adventuring & short-handed cruising. The ability to safely venture into areas of shallow water and yet be seaworthy enough to cross serious oceans is invaluable. Sounds like the boat is slow. 18.6 down wind / down wave is a rare event. I agree that safety should be top priority but their are times where speed plays a major roll in safety as well.
