Thats why certain people have certain jobs, because they're excellent in patience & dealing with children & elderly people (nursing homes, etc..) My Ma is one of these people, nurse who used to work in a nursing home with more "dementia" patients.. Retired now.. Thank God for these people! Just like everyones been saying... Judah bug is slowly getting used to using his “voice box” or “buzzer”! His kindergarten classmates encourage him to use it- which helps! We are still looking to have Judah go through surgeries that would reconstruct his airway. Once his airway is stable and can support his breathing we may be able to remove the trach! And then, finally, we can have the necessary procedures done to try to fix his vocal cord paralysis. It’s a long journey! But he’s a champion! Most electrolarynx users are older than Judah bug. He’s a unique case!

I don't know whether he taped it or glued it but he could press the button and stick it up to his throat and talk over this evening radio and a lot of people enjoyed conversations with him. Every now and then somebody who didn't understand would try to mock him but he wouldn't get mad he would just explain he had a problem and that it was not a CB radio toy as some people thought that it was the only way he can talk. Those people would back down real quick and apologize LOL yeah he was a union driver in Illinois and Ohio Interstate 70

Phil Ha It’s not an ignorant question- yes, consonant sounds can be produced to a lesser degree without an voicing. However, all sounds have a base vowel that is produced by voicing it then is shaped in the mouth to make it a consonant. Judah’s speech without any device assistance sounds like a lot of clicking. Someone asked me once how we taught him to click like a dolphin. 😳🤦♀️🤷🏻♂️
My husband had his whole voice box removed nearly 4 years ago. He now breathes through a hole in his neck. He has a valve in his neck that allows him to speak normally by blocking his breathing hole. If he doesn't block his hole he can whisper, but had to really articulate the words. If he moved his mouth like he would for normal speech, it would sound a bit jumbled.
That woman has massive respect from me. She is brilliant at her job. I hope she knows how important she is.
