we all know why a HS student is helping the disabled instead of the government.

We NEED more people like that young man to step up to the plate and find solutions to today's problems.

plenty of them all over. scientists and engineers etc. They're generally ignored and shunned until they give up or just go away and do their own thing.

Ladies and gentlemen the electronic voice box as it's called is actually called a artificial larynx so here's the deal this man had his voice box taken out and he had what is called a laryngectomy. and a laryngectomy is the surgical removal of the larynx/voice box. so the person who lost their voice due to cancer has to find a new way of communication. the artificial larynx is a speech aid that helps people speak after laryngectomy. the user puts the unit on the neck or against the throat to speak. and the user presses a button and the unit produces a steady robotic like buzzing sound. or if the user uses a oral adapter the person puts the oral adapter on the unit and the user presses a button and the sound from the artificial larynx goes through a straw and the user puts the straw in his/her mouth and forms words to speak.

I taught him that, kachow! So glad he said his purpose is to help people, I said that is the purpose of engineering.

Was _not_ expecting students in my first decade of teaching to make the news; I'm glad she reported my student to KHOU.

Yeah great. I mean, the kid is awesome.
Why should a man, who got throat-cancer, have to rely on an 18-year old for this? I don't see a feel-good story, but a dystopian shitscape in which we live in. This is not a good system.

It's much better than not being able to make yourself heard. And it sounds better than having a button in your throat that redirects air through your esophagus. Makes you sound very gurgly.

Can someone remix this and put Intergalactic when he tries to speak?
