- In this weeks video I did a Crich circular walk which took me to the abandoned Wingfield Manor, through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and up to the Crich Memorial Tower. A brilliant walk and perfect if you are in Derbyshire and looking for a historical walk!

The Earl of Shrewsbury was married to Bess of Hardwick (Cavendish) Queen Elizabeth l and Bess were basically buddies and the Queen decided that the Earl and Bess would keep Mary Queen of Scots under house arrest, she stayed in several houses including Chatsworth House
Brilliant! Thank you very much for filling me in, I’ll pin this comment so others can see 👍😁 really appreciate that 👍
@@alexcripps.outdoors no worries I did a,walk awhile back of similar route, although a bit further and talked about the history a bit more of Wingfield manor
Ambervalley has simply got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth, aswell as the history of the place, incredible!
Completely agree! I’ve only lived in the area for a year and I’ve felt very lucky to be here during the lockdowns, lots of great walks in stunning countryside!
I love the stone work on the Manor. Love the architecture in town. Great adventure. Enjoyed coming along, thank you 🙏🏽
Hello Alex, the false spring that was last weekend lured everyone into a false sense of security huh, I must admit I reached for the shorts! 🙈
Great video and what a fab little village! Smashing area, similarities with Wiltshire ❤☕👍
Loved the old manor house, Kat was purring with the facts!! Well played sir 🤗 the bakery peaked my interest I wont lie lol, love a good pasty! 🥐
Closing in on 100 subs, keep up the good work and keep the videos coming! ❤☕👍 stay safe and well, Ceri and Kat 😁
Thank you Guys!
Haha the shorts haven't been touched yet! Yes its a great little village and so much to do and see in the area.
Wiltshire is definitely on my list of places to visit this year, especially after watching your videos!
The bakery is amazing! They do a Wednesday night pizza night and its incredible! 🍕
Glad you like the history, not my usual area of expertise it must be said!
Thanks again guys, all the best 👍😁
lovely place 👍🏼
Another great walk Alex and thanks for sharing, you really have some marvellous open spaces around there. “Classic British winter weather” Know exactly what you mean there! All the best mate, Paul
Thank you Paul, been very lucky living here during lockdown. Yea the weather has been crazy this past week! Cheers 👍👍
Beautiful!
Thank you! 😁
Looks like a nice relaxing walk, and something pretty cool to explore in the end 👍🏻 new subscriber! 😁🙌🏻
Thank you so much! Subbed to your channel also 👍
Gotta tap the trig after all that history. Splendid walk. I wonder of Mary was allowed to walk around there. Good going. Mark
I hope she was allowed, would be a shame to be locked away in such an amazing house! 😆
@@alexcripps.outdoors Yeah, being banged up behind the door isn't the best.
As a Wingfield thank you for this video 👐🏼
Another great video, keep them coming Alex! 👍🏻👏🏻
Thanks lads! Appreciate it 👍👍
Great views from the top of the hill by the tower. Lovely. Must check out that area sometime although we are staying in Hayfield on the next visit 👍 Great video Alex.
Thanks Greg! Yes, probably a little to far to venture from Hayfield. Perfect place to Kinder and the rest of the Dark Peak though! Thank you 👍
Great video Alex. Never seen that place before and I’ve done a bit of walking around Crich. It’s quite fascinating learning about the history of these old buildings isn’t it? Can’t quite believe how the weather changed from the previous weekend, although Sunday wasn’t too bad here. Looks like winter has returned though 😫
Thank you Anthony. Yes I only found out about it the day before I did the walk! Great bit of history indeed, had to write down the facts for filming as I’m terrible with dates and names! I know, the weather seems to have done a complete U turn, I work as a gardener so it’s been extremely miserable today 😂 Thank you Anthony, appreciate your comments as always 👍😁
Great vid Alex!! love the history! Cant wait to follow along for more, new subscriber over in California!!!
Thank you very much👍 I've subbed to your channel also, great videos and look forward to seeing more! 😁
nice one...lovely walking area
Thank you 😁 great walking area indeed 👍
Great video pal! Definitely a change in weather from other other week haha. That house was mad great to see very old buildings like that with a lot of history behind them and thanks for all the information you gave along with it 👍🏻
Yay!! Bagged a trig too! 😁😁😁🔼 Good man 👏🏻👌🏻
Like that Kinder Scout wall hang 🙌🏻
Cant wait to see your future plans on your channel.. I have some mental plans too along the year so can't wait!
Well done for nearly hitting 100 dude 👏🏻
Take care mate
Thank you very much! Yes it’s a great bit of local history, didn’t know it was there until I looked on a map at the weekend!
Hopefully bag a load more trigs in the Peak District soon, thinking of trying to bag all 88 by the end of the year 👀👀
The wall hang was made by a local artist in Sheffield, forgotten his name annoyingly, he does them for all the big mountains in the UK, top class.
Look forward to seeing your future videos/plans as well. Not long now!
Thanks a lot mate really appreciate it, take care 👍
@@alexcripps.outdoors Wow cool yeah get on it!! Especially living that close too you could always nip to a quick trig route 😝 you'll smash that mate. Ive done around 18 or 19 I think but a lot of them were before I started this channel and Insta page so only have photos of about 7 😂 gonna have to go back to the others I think to get a pic haha.
It does look cool mate you shoud get a few done of places you have been, depending on the room you have I suppose.
Thanks dude can't wait 🙌🏻😊
Nice vlog 👍🏻 Have a good day my friend 😉
Thank you! 👍😁
Looked like a great walk-hike..🇺🇲🤠
Thank you! 😁 Just been on your channel, some great videos, subscribed 👍
@@alexcripps.outdoors appreciate that..
amazing video
Thank you very much! 👍
Loved the style of video mate. Similar to myself with vlog, b-roll and some informative info in there! So much to explore, never even heard of these areas so i need to get a little further afield post lockdown and check it out. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this 🤝
Thanks mate! Yes was thinking that when I watched yours, real similar! Haha yeah it’s just south of the Peaks, been lucky to have this area to explore during lockdown, ready to get back in the Peaks now though! Appreciate the comment, cheers mate 👍👍
@@alexcripps.outdoors let me know when you’re back this way and we’ll get out together
@@ShaunPettigrew I’d love that mate, sounds a plan 🤝
So sad this has been abandoned by English Heritage. Looks like a beautiful place to go in.
I know! I couldn’t believe it. It looked as if part of it was being used not too long ago. Such a shame.
Wouldve been nice to know the starting point of the walk and the route.
Like your jacket pal
Cheers! 😁 It’s the Rab Prosar down jacket 👍
@@alexcripps.outdoors wood u sell it
