      Do you think the 2020 LS500 will age as well as the 94 in 30+ years?

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety

      Ehh probably not it looks so of it's time and that's my problem with the LC500 as well. To be fair the 94 looks like a 90s car but it's clean and kind of timeless whereas the LS500 is not timeless. That's the one good thing the Porsche 911 has going for it because it's always an evolution not a revolution

    I have an LS430 and to answer your question what luxury is:
    To me: “not feeling tired after a tiring trip”.
    In my LS noice cancellation, ride quality, interior quality and tech makes me not to get tired in long trips.
    If your car is luxurious, you simply won’t get tired in it-that’s luxury summarised.

    New LS is a little disappointing for me because for all its size outside it is not big on the Inside. Great review by the way.

      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety +6

      Yea I noticed that I thought that was rather strange I guess it's because they went for a coupe like design. But leg room wasn't as much either kind of interesting but I did love the looks of it haha. Thank you again for stopping by and showing support my friend

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety +5

      It's just weird how the previous generation 460s had more space that's all usually space should go up not down especially when the cars get larger that's all most normal people of course don't have issues fitting

      @MeynMotorGroup  Před 4 lety +4

      @Pika Pika yes roof line is def effecting things but I just love how this thing looks that I don't really care but again I'm a normal size person so I rather have the style

    • @LilRick96
      @LilRick96 Před 4 lety

      Yeah with the LS500 being bigger, how do they drop the ball on leg space? A Honda Accord has the same legroom.

    • @LilRick96
      @LilRick96 Před 4 lety

      @Pika Pika but that's the sad part tho. This car is longer than the previous LS but a smaller interior. That's unacceptable. The 7 series, A8 and S class have way more room. My LS430 UL almost has the same space. Lexus dropped the ball on that

    the 400 is all things considered the much more impressive vehicle, at the time it was a genuine leap ahead in terms of how meticulously and thoroughly it was engineered and executed, now there's no real reason besides price to get a 500 over like a new S class... the LS 600hl was really the last time the LS was on the same field as the competition
    enjoyed your review, my 1999 LS is still my favorite car and that's even after also having the 2005 E55 for a few years... nothing else is just quite so nice to use, it's really the perfect balance of when a car stuck to doing it's best to just be a car without attempting to make any decisions for you, and the instantaneous and linear power delivery (and sound) of the V8 just can't be matched
    if you're ever near the NY area i'd love for you to be able to review it, and the E55 for that matter lol

    Great job on covering both vehicles so well. I love your Lexus content and the passion you put into these videos, you also helped me learn more about the 2010 ES350 before I picked mine up. Regarding the LS400, I suspect that it needs new struts at the current mileage, which is probably why it rolled so much in the corners. I have a 98 ES300 that needed new struts at the same mileage and it completely transformed the body control.

    @roberte.andrews4621 Před 3 lety +1

    I studied at The Art Center School and planned to be an automotive designer, so my comments aren't off the cuff opinions. The original Lexus was styled to have a quiet dignity, an understated purity of line in the manner of the famed Bauhaus, whose philosophy was Less Is More. Translated, that means form follows function. Toyota's target was the CEO or professional upper middle class management people who gravitated to BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Toyota spent over $1 billion on their Project F1, as it was called. Within 2 years of introduction to the US market, Lexus was No. One in the luxury sedan class. As the competition fought back, Lexus wanted to tap the younger performance market and the stylists were told to jazz it up. Unfortunately, the cookie cutter grille and swooping, pointy lines of front and rear made for an aggressive change of character and the entire feel of the Lexus was lost. Subsequent yearly variations only made any distinction Lexus had fade into obscurity. It's not easy to maintain a dominant character year after year, as Porsche, BMW and Benz have done, but if you can't make your product stand out from the rest without alienating your base customers, things could get out of hand. I'll keep my classic LS400. It suits my senior status and is a source of conversation, when I run across someone who knows the Lexus story. Whenever I take it in for routine maintenance, the younger mechanics ask if I want to sell it. It appears there is a certain cult of the elegant beater car lover afoot. "Less", as in money, is "More" for younger drivers of modest means and oldsters on a fixed income.

    Great review. I disagree about what you stated about the LS 400 not being recognized as a status symbol by most people in current times. I believe they would be because of the Lexus badge on the LS 400 and it has aged well. Any German or british or domestic luxury car from that older era would be so lucky to look half as good in modern times...or wait, most of those German/british/domestic marques are in junkyards.

    I currently have a 1994 LS400 with 160,000 miles. Its my daily driver. I also own a 2006 LS430 with 87,000 miles. Almost time for the timing belt! Its a sweet drive. Its the blackcherry pearl color. I haven't seen another one like it. I am currently looking to buy a 2010 or 2011 LS460. Its just before they changed the body style. I haven't found one locally with the right color. I want a black interior and blue or red exterior. I am tired of the cashmere interior of my LS430. Once I find the LS460 I will sell my LS400, which I have had for 12 years. Except for a timing belt and a power steering pump, its been a vary reliable car. It will be hard to give it up but I must move on.
