Bowserâs Relationships: â¤ď¸ Healthy to Toxic âŁď¸
The king of the Koopas and the main threat to the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser, has easily become the most iconic and reoccurring video game villain to this day.
Whether heâs capturing Princess Peach, terrorizing a tennis court, or capturing Princess Peach, or trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom or ⌠capturing Princess Peach again - he really likes to do that - Bowserâs name is known across the Mario universe, and for good reason.
This large, fire breathing turtle certainly knows how to make an impact on those around him, whether heâs leaving a positive or negative impression - usually the latter.
While Bowser has made some very formidable enemies over the years, he still manages to keep the loyalty of the many Goombas, Koopa Troopas and various other species who follow him even after his many defeats, so clearly heâs doing something right.
With that said, how does Bowser fare when we look up close to his interpersonal relationships with other characters in the series? Which of Bowserâs acquaintances have the best repertoire with the Koopa King and which ones create the most conflict?

I like to think that The Koopalings grew up into teenagers/young adults by the time Bowser Jr. Came into the picture, and they aren't referred to as Bowser's Children anymore because they rose up high in Bowser's Army as Top Star Generals.
In other words they forgot that they're his children as a result?
Bowser is the same age as Mario Luigi and Peach meaning that he is 24 years old Bowser is to young to have kids in their teens

@@fausthanos08 He was a little older, but still an infant. He's still referred to as Baby Bowser. So he's maybe 1 to 2 years older.
Regardless, Bowser has access to magic, so the Koopaling's ages make no difference. Say, they were around 5 to 8 in SMB 3 and World. They lost to Mario, so Bowser has Kamek use his magic to make them older, bigger, and stronger. Now they're in their early to late teens while Bowser is still roughly 25 to 27.

Yeah hurting Bowser Jr. is THE best way to get on Bowser's bad side. I remember when I played Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, after the Marios and Luigi defeat both Bowser Jrs and recapture the two Peaches, the Bowser's were PISSED not because they took back the princesses, but for hurting their sons and pretty much decimated the Mushroom Kingdom as a result

This is a really interesting list! It makes me even more excited to see how Jack Black Bowser plays out in the movie.
There are a few characters I would add to this list.
His relationship Fawful is probably more toxic than to Peach as Fawful was behind the betrayal of Bowserâs troops and actively hates Boswer as much as Bowser hates him. You could also include Yoshi as Bowser kidnapped Yoshis in SMW and fought Yoshi as a baby in Yoshiâs Island.
Bowser's troops didn't betray him, they were brainwashed.
Elite Trio and loyalty - they've betrayed Bowser in Bowser's Inside Story

They weren't even brainwashed there and just willingly betrayed Bowser, and in dream team they imagined bossing him around, also in Jr Journey, other minions insulted and even hit them because they betrayed Bowser, meaning that while the other minions have been brainwashed, the elite trio wasn't.

My list
HEALTHY
đĽBowser jr
This should come as a shock to no one at all. Bowser truly loves his son and takes care of him like making sure he does his chores and even likely giving him all the toys junior uses against Mario out of love for him. He also get furious when Mario defeats him. Even in juniors debut in super Mario sunshine, while bowser does lie to his son, he later decides to tell him the truth. And it turned out it was okay as junior already knew peach wasnât his mother and he also just wants to help his papa. And while teaching your son to be evil is bad, I blame it on kamek. When people talk about bowsers softer side they bring up junior for a good reason.
đĽThe koopalings
They are bowsers adopted children and are loyal to him no matter what. I donât think bowser abandoned them. The koopalings have been helping bowser for longer than junior has and bowser spoils them out of love. He also also doesnât get mad at them (or junior) when Mario defeats them.
đĽHis minions
Aside from some exceptions, Bowser is usually NOT a tyrant towards his kingdom. He is actually a benevolent ruler. In fact he might believe that he would be a good ruler for the mushroom kingdom but his methods are evil. He is usually nice towards his minions and even from some along to have fun with him in spin-offs. This isnât always the case but it usually is. He is also not mad when he finds out one of his minions defected from the koopa troop and even wishes them good luck. He also seems concerned for his kingdom in bowsers inside story
4 Kammy koopa
This is one of the relationships he has exclusive to the paper Mario series. Kammy koopa is bowsers second in command in the first and second games. But bowser isnât the absolute nicest to her.
5 Kamek
The reason he is this low is because he raised him to be evil and is reason why he is evil. But Kamek still cares about bowser and loves him like a son. He helps bowser in any way he can showing his loyalty to him.
6 Koopa kids
The last healthy relationship is his relationship with the koopa kids from Mario party. They are usually are bowsers henchmen but sometimes have gone against bowser which is why they are this low on the list.
NEUTRAL
1 Elite trio
While they are usually loyal to bowser in bowsers inside story they do betray him. After Fawfuls death they returned back to him and bowser doesnât seem to care that they betrayed them and gives them their jobs back. He also is usually nice to them too.
2 Peach
While has kidnapped her like a hundred billion times he does seem to truly love peach and is upset when she rejects him in odyssey. Also whenever he kidnaps her he never really harms her at all and just puts her in a cage.
3 Wario and Waluigi
Aside from viewing them as neusances and Wario sometimes helping to stop him, he doesnât really have any real relasionship with them.
TOXIC
5 Most of the supporting characters in Mario
Since he is the main antagonist, he has a lot of heroic enemyâs but the relationships arenât that unique.
4 Luigi
Even though he sometimes forgets his name, Luigi does more to stop bowser than most do.
đĽMario
Even though Mario is his archenemy, there are some good things about this relationship. He has been willing to put aside his differences with Mario to stop a greater threat. Also while he hates Mario he does respect him. But still I would be crazy not to put this relationship in the top 3
đĽFawful
Bowser HATES Fawful. Out of all the villains bowser has helped to defeat, Fawful is the best example. Fawful literally brainwashed his own minions and is the reason why he got possessed. (Also Iâll give a brief mention to midbus right here.)
đĽThe dark star
Fawful was bad the dark star is worse. Once it takes the form of dark bowser, this infuriates bowser causing him to hate him more than Fawful and utterly despises dark bowser.
HEALTHY: Bowser and Bowser jr
NEUTRAL: Bowser and Peach
TOXIC: Bowser and Mario

Given how easily Peach gets kidnapped every time and never gets stronger protection or ever puts any precautions in place, I'm going to say Peach LETS herself be kidnapped.
That's why everyone hates her. She could LITERALLY EVEN FLOAT in 3D World and still can't float all the way from Bowser's Castle to her own kingdom? She's the laziest girl ever.
It's a mutually beneficial dynamic for the three of them. Mario gets to be seen as a hero without having to put himself at serious risk, Peach gets to be in charge of her kingdom without having to make decisions or take responsibility (because she's just going to get abducted again anyway), and Bowser gets to cause as much chaos as he wants, as often as he wants without having to commit to anything long term.

Itâs possible that Bowser and the koopalings use their magic to keep her from floating away. Also Iâm pretty sure Bowser keeps kidnapping her because he likes her. And when it comes to Mario and Bowser getting fed up with Peachâs BSâŚ.

In my heart, I believe it to be canon. Unlike Legend of Zelda: Age of calamity.
Kind of feel like Yoshi should have been in the toxic part, I mean Yoshi and Bowser have interacted with each other in games and Yoshi was Bowser's first enemy. Kamek should have been bronze medal for the healthy relationship, aside from the fact Kamek was his caretaker as a baby, Bowser treats Kamek better than all his other minions.
I love how the new names for the characters always become their first names, and the old name becomes their last name. Peach used to be Toadstool, and now it's Peach Toadstool. Bowser used to be Koopa, and now he's Bowser Koopa. Or King of the Koopas. AKA King Koopa. Eggman used to be Robotnik. Now he's Eggman Robotnik. The only exception to this, is Jumpman.

I honestly say that Bowsers relationship with Mario is more along the way of toxic ish. After all they both have worked together on separate occasions and Mario even invites Bowser to sporting and golf cart events
Apparently, all of the mario characters are just actors and are actually besties outside of the plays they take part in.

If this list included characters from other series, I'd give the silver medal of healthy to Eggman. The two get along VERY well when it comes to the Mario & Sonic games. I'd rank it gold but Bowser is such a good and protective parent over Bowser Jr. who in turn looks up to him greatly
You never know with eggman. Eggman doesnât seem to actually care about anyone other than himself. He wouldnât have a problem using bowser as knuckles if it got him the emarlds or whatever he desires.
That being said they do make a very good team of smarts and muscles
It seems weird to put the Elite Trio high on the list since they betrayed him only to go back to him after Fawful was defeated. He did give them a promotion prior to Dream Team so their relationship is questionable.
Hold up, if anything, I'd rank the elite trio lower since they DID betray Bowser at one point during Bowser's inside story.

The Elite Trio and Koopalings also had quarrals in M&LSSS + Bowser's Minions. 1-Up Binge and Wicked Binge need to get their act together!

Out of all Mario villains, bowserâs definitely my all time favorite, heâs funny , strong, looks cool, actually pretty smart when he needs to be, and went through a great character development arc in the M&L games, heâs a pretty good father, too.
Not fawful on the toxic list?
He used bowser like a pawn to get rid of mario and luigi, took over his castle, hypnotised his minions, crushed him with his very own castle, embarrased him by making him fat to get stuck in his own castle, built train tracks through his treasure chamber, crushed him with the mushroom palace and used him to kidnapp princess peach.
To me fawful is the number one most toxic relationship with bowser.
My head canon off the Koopa kids is that that they are some kind of low-effort âmass-producedâ clones of bowser. Like he wanted to clone them, but theyâre incomplete, or he was just lazy about making them, and left them to rot after jr came of age to meet Mario.
As the WAHs, I think he thinks of them the same way like a drug dealer would think of a delinquent. âOoh I can get a quick buck and a laugh outta these goobersâ
As for mario, I think he respects him in some weird way like Eggman does sonic.
Browser Jr. is Bowser's only biological child. The Koopalings were all adopted.
His relationship with the Koopa Kid(s) could look much worse if one considers a Mario Party Advance minigame where they have a dispute and drag the player character into it to find out who's in the right. That and the fact that he makes many Koopa Kids do the fighting for him.
There was also in Mario Party 7 where Bowser threatens to throw Koopa Kid(s) in the dungeon if they mess up.
I think Bowser would of been just as bad without Kamek around.
Peach probably isn't the most toxic relationship with Bowser because remember in Super Mario Odyssey Bowser tries to marry Peach, which proves that he loves Peach, or hates Mario, or both.

Surprised Princess Daisy is not on this list. Princess Daisy is the only person Bowser actively avoids and suffers PTSD from Daisy slapping his face and sending him off into oblivion in Mario Party 3.

What about Bowser's relationship with his brother? Bowser's Brother only appeared in Super Mario The Lost Levels.
We barely know anything about Bowser's brother, but since Bowser's good qualities are that he loves his minions and family, they probably have a good relationship.

I donât Bowser is truly a Villian. I mean, he takes care of his kids. And ya gotta remember that ending of Sunshine with him and Jr. He isnât half bad.
Bowser went back in time to murder Mario and Luigi when they were babies in new Yoshi's island, he also goes back in time and kidnaped THOUSANDS OF BABIES throughout the entire planet in order to find the 7 star children, he enslaved toads in Paper Jam Bros, he turned them into bricks in the first super Mario bros, he blows up toad town every time he invades the mushroom kingdom, he tries to force someone who doesn't love him into marrying him, he hit a knocked out Mario with a lighting bolt with enough strenght to send him flying back down towards the planet in a clear attempt to kill Mario, he tried to take over the world multiple times, he calls himself a villain on multiple occasions and loves being evil, in dream team he litterally says that the entire world and peach belongs to him. He is most definitely a villain, he is extremely power-hungry and has attempted to take over the world on multiple occasions and whenever he wants something, he takes it throughout force. Just because he has a few redeeming qualities doesn't make him a good person, just because he's a good father- well he actually spoils Jr rotten, so I'm not even sure if he's such a great father, good parenting doesn't equal to giving your child whatever the heck they want whenever they want, plus he is raising Jr to become a evil king just like him. Bowser loves being evil and calls himself evil on many occasions, it's his hobby. He literally says to baby Bowser in partners in time to become more evil. Sure, Bowser loves his son, and he also loves his minions and is a genuinely good king to them, but you cannot say someone who tried to conquer the entire world on multiple occasions and doesn't mind hurting BABIES to get what he wants isn't a villain.
The Elite Trio should be ranked lower because if there is one thing there not is loyal, I mean it's not Bowser's fault but they betrayed him twice and one of those times they (maybe) had there free will and on top of that they really only tried so hard after that because they wanted to get promoted over Bowser.

Daisy hates people who pick on her friends like Luigi, Peach, and Mario. As well as her opinions of him in Fortune Street.
Diddy doesnât have much but same could be said for him and Wizpig lol. Diddyâs mainly came from Brawl. Other than that Diddy sides and is pretty close to Mario so Bowser wouldnât like him.

You forgot Captain Goomba (from +Bowser's minions) he was more loyal the the elite Trio and is tasked with training Jr. In Bowser's inside story + Junior's Journey. In superstar saga minions Captain Goomba outlasted the Koopalings and the elitetrio when Fawful was trying to brain wash them into being loyal to him. Then the elite Trio betray Bowser in Bowser's inside story and ask for forgiveness after
Though I have to say I feel like mario and all characters being rated in this scale seems to be off because paper bowser when infected by the black ink asks mario why he was in his castle and if he had forgotten a scheduled kart race meaning that this might be more like a tom and Jerry situation where they are staging the fights and the conflicts even though they do actually feel that way about each other at times seeing as Jerry breaks the peace agreement just to antagonize Jerry in their vacations from their fights. I feel that the situations we see in the Mario aeries are staged with the exception of the original mario vs donkey kong identifying the first of the 3 generations koopa to young bowser which leads to the 3rd generation bowser and bowser Jr which is just bowser from the past in an alternate timeline. And in this case for mario we really only see the first and 3rd generations with baby mario picking up after their grandfather and fighting both 2nd generation bowser and 3rd generation bowser seeing as older 2nd generation bowser can identify their younger self where as 3rd generation just full on adopts himself
In both Mario e Lukgi superstar saga e inside story, they betrayed Bowser, Koopalings and Capitan Goomba for helping Fawful. They close Bowser in a box and leave it in trap and put a bomb on the Tartaplane to kill Fawful's enemies, so Bowser's minions. They show that were happy to do it and every minion know their unloyal.

Well, given that bowser kidnaps women on the regular, is patriarch of a "clan", not to mention and imperialistic king, I would venture that the koopalings are his children via concubine. Bowser jr definitely isn't from a marriage, the only woman Bowser loves is peach, which is why he's trying to force her into marrying him. Bowser literally wished to the star spirits that peach likes him in paper Mario 64. Bowser Jr is probably a result of either black magic, or during paper Mario 64, Bowser used the star rod to wish to have a kid.

@@nicholayrichardson9668 Dude, dry bones and boos have shown to speak and think of their own, they can also kart race and participate in parties. Also, if they were anything like classic undead, Bowser would never give his minions such a fate, yet there's a lot of dry bones and boos in his army. And either way, the Koopas have a magic potion that turns dry bones to normal Koopas as seen when Jr did it with Dry Bowser.
You forgot Yoshi, Toad, other of Bowserâs minions, etc as a kind of relationship with Bowser, obviously.

I've always wanted to see, even if it's very hard to do, The Henry Stickmin Collection characters: good to evil. Now, i'm not saying every Bio in the game, but only the most important and canonic, also in order to classify you need to undersant what they are willing to do in varius situations and mix them up like Reginald is willing to betray Henry when he takes his place but he saves him when he helps the toppat clan from failing the Mission. Henry migth also be a hard decision to make, but i'm sure he deserves a middle spot since he can be good, bad or neutral.

in defense of bowser's parenting, he never exactly had the best upbringing. he was an
orphan who's closest thing to a parental figure was his advisor Kamek who kidnapped
babies and was very tyrannical himself. everything that bowser teaches his son is essentially
what he himself believes to be right as it was seen as okay to him when he was a baby.

Why are the elite trio so high?
A little late but I think Dr Eggman is missing in this video . They teamed up in some opus in Mario and Sonic at Olympics Games . Exemple for London on 3DS Eggman ask him to defend his machine and he accept . He follow Eggman plan and no one of them search to betray the other. They acted like freinds in this game . I didn't play in every opus of this series but I think we could put Eggman in the Healthy section .
