Another thing to add to the “ being a caring dad “ thing: The switch parental controls video. He wanted to suspend the switch because Jr. was playing an hour over the set time limit, then hesitated to think about Jr.’s feelings, and increased the time limit for weekends. He also made sure Jr. doesn’t play games he’s too young for, and then at the end even plays on the switch with him! Bowser’s officially my favorite Mario character

I dont consider King Boo a true villain before like the last mansion in 2, at witch point he very much start becoming a villain. In one he doesn't do much after freeing the portrait ghosts. Shoot, the boos are hiding from the vacuum through most of the game. I think they free the other ghost and heard about these two heros and thought they would become a huge threat to them so they wanted them gone. In two though, he nearly destroy the universe as a last ditch effort. Bowser has nothing on that.

I have seen the relationship between Mario and Bowser similar to Kirby and DeDeDe for a long time. Their not arch-enemies. They're more like rivals who try to out-do each other. But, sometimes, Bowser gets left out of a party or get-together and throws a huge tantrum.
This can be seen in the super Mario Odyssey cutseen when you beet the game, Mario and bowser give a little hug after learning that the princess doesn't want to be married to bowser or mario
That's the best way to explain Mario and Browser.
For me, I see Bowser as a Anti-Hero. He is not perfect. (Kidnapping isn't a good idea just to find a Mama for your child after all), but he's doing everything he can to protect himself, his child, and the other koopalings. I admire him for that.

You know what I think? I think it's all just a way of Bowser having fun with Mario, I think all of it is just a game that Bowser plays with Mario. Why else would Bowser want to attend Mario's parties and racing tournaments and even Olympic games? Bowser just wants to have fun with Mario, his only downfall is that Bowser doesn't realize how violent he could be at times, like Yoshi's Island. All he wanted was to ride Yoshi, but due to Kamek's horrible parenting, he did it in a violent manner, you see where I'm at with this?

Here's another thing to mention about Bowser's kingdoms. Compared to the Mushroom Kingdom, the multiple kingdoms he's had were absolutely amazing! In Super Mario 3D world, Bowser literally made an entire amusement park for not only the Mario brothers, but also his people. Another example would be in Super Mario odyssey, where his base is based off of beautiful Japanese or Chinese architecture. It's sad to see an underdeveloped character like bowser get hate not only by Mario and his friends, but also many fans of the Mario franchise.

Bowser is kind of neutral he is a caring Dad and has helped Mario and Luigi on a couple of occasions. His alternate self Paper Bowser has been neutral sometimes as well. So he could be an anti-hero like Meta Knight and King Dedede, but at the same time, he has done some despicable deeds, especially in Odyssey. Then again, I recall Ganondorf, King K. Rool, Ridley, Wolf, Sephiroth, and Kazuya doing worse stuff. These guys listed above either have taken out many people or in K. Rool's case stole bannana's for profit.

Another reason: In super Mario sunshine, Bowser didn't want to capture princess peach, he just wanted a holiday/vacation with his son and the princess! He doesn't want to kidnapp the princess, he just wants to spend some time with her!
If he really wanted that then he should’ve just told her politely or sent her a formal invitation. If he did that Peach might’ve been more inclined to go with Bowser and his son. It’s amazing how people’s opinions on you can change if you just communicate your thoughts and desires in the appropriate way.

He is still a villain but not completely a villain at the same time. He is a caring Dad and has helped Mario and Luigi before in a select amount of games. However, he has still done enough evil deeds to not make him a complete anti-hero unlike Meta Knight and King Dedede.

10. Bowser's minions may be forced to kill Mario, and Mario knows it, so he invites them, but not Bowser.
9. We don't even know if he built the castles.
8. He's trying to beat Mario in everything.
7. From what we know about the game, the Sprixies rule the Sprixie kingdom and don't want anything to do with the other "dimensions".

My theory is that Bowser kidnaps Peach over and over again so Bowser Jr. can have a mother figure.
The strongest evidence I have of this is when Bowser Jr. says he knows Peach is not his real mother. This implies that Bowser made his son believe that Peach was his biological mother, probably so he didn't feel lonely, much like Bowser did when he was young, since Kamek raised him.
And he loves Bowser Jr., so he's willing to do anything to make him happy, such as giving him a mother. Sort of a bummer for Peach, but it's not like she's ever mistreated, on the contrary!
Now if Mario could just sit his fat Italian ass down and let Bowser give his kids the happy family he never had..

Some of Bowser's actions just melt my heart.
He was going to set a time suspension for Bowser Jr's games during the Parental Controls video, but he decided not to, as he didn't want to hurt his child's feelings just like that.
He also makes sure Bowser Jr doesn't do things he isn't supposed to (from his context), he adopted 7 kids, which takes a lot of dedication, and he has one of the biggest fan followings despite his actions.
Also, like Nico said, he probably just wants attention, as he made the traps so easy for Mario.
And he wants Peach as his queen because he wants a mother for his children and a romantic/sexual companion for himself.

Just because Bowser temporarily aligns himself with the heroes to fight a greater evil, it does not take away his villain status. Situations like this happen all the time especially in the comic books. Sometimes Magneto would help the X-Men fight Apocalypse just because Apocalypse is a lot more dangerous to the world in general. Once the greater evil is dispatched, the villain goes right back to their evil ways.
Namely, the unions with the enemy does not make him a non-villain.
My theory is that Bowser is trying to form an ALLIANCE with the mushroom kingdom. He is the first to realize both koopa and mushroom kingdom had been fighting for so long and he decided to stop it, by marrying the princess. Sure, no one in Mushroom Kingdom or any empires would allow their enemies to marry their beloved rulers, and that’s why he kidnapped the princess, because he wants to form the alliance so badly and wanted nothing to stand on its way. Of course, Mario will always be there to get Peach back, but with Mario marrying Peach will still have both kingdoms fighting. That’s what I think

+Oli414 So Mario is controlled by an AI, 1-2 question blocks are spawned randomly (why should you place them?). but the trick is, your minions have to be able to walk throught Castle as well, so you can not place random stuff. you have to find a Balance between a Castle their you manage your minions and try to make it hard enough to Keep Mario away. Sound awesome!

The only reason why Bowser did join forces with Mario is that both the mushroom kingdom, and the Koopa kingdom were in danger. And villains sometimes put their differences with the hero aside to deal with a much stronger foe. In fact, Bowser should've have just be nice to the mushroom kingdom instead of invading it, which might be why Mario and his friends don't invite Bowser to the party, because Bowser kept invading the kingdom.

At first Bowser refused to join Mario and Peach, but joined when he found out that if Count Bleck wins, the world would be destroyed and there'll be nothing to rule over.
Also every point is filled with plot holes. Bowser is the most successive, most powerful and most evil villain to ever exist. He is, actually quite intelligent. Take Mario galaxy. He literally captured the power of many stars (from comet observatory) and using this He took over the entire universe. To completely halt the comet observatory (that can travel to the centre of the universe in minutes) and take it over calls for precision and timing, along with the perfect assault. This happened shortly b4 the star festival. Bowser also then in a matter of minutes devastated the mushroom kingdom and took the castle into space, to the centre of the universe. Only with the power of a powerful luma did Mario get to defeat bowser (galaxy 2 is officially non-canonical). Bowser literally reforms galaxies in ways to obstruct Mario from getting the power source of each, a power star. Ofc bowser Jr wastes some grand stars, and can be entirely blamed for Mario being able to power up the observatory and getting to the centre of the universe. Ofc bowser gave up some grand stars as well but he was stalling Mario, as his plans were nearly completed. He just had to kill mario and then he would be unstoppable. Also bowser can teleport with dark matter, showing another unique power that is unmatched. He is not pure evil but his evilness and power is unmatched by any other villain.
