I love air fryers. They're perfect for making crispy vegetables - we use it for broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes, green beans, etc etc. It reheats food 1000x better than a microwave, especially pizza, and you can make perfect chicken and fish in it. Huge fan.
Glad you liked it, its probably worth mentioning that practically any air fryer will cook food exactly the same way. As cool as the built in screen and recipes are personally its not worth the $150+ extra over a basic little store bought one.
There's a lot of trial and error when it comes to those things. Having the recipes built in would probably be really helpful, especially for people who don't have a lot of cooking experience. Add in the built-in meat thermometer and I could see it being worth the cost.
I have a simple air fryer with no screen, just digital. It has some recipes on it that I never use. But mine does not have water ability and probes. Those two things add alot of value to the end product. And if you cook quality stuff in air fryer like lamb racks etc and given that the air fryer probably will not break within at least 5-10 year. What is 150+ one time extra for a decent air fryer that you will probably use several times per week? $150/(12x10). I mean, it's not even a cost in the end to even think about.
We love our air fryer over here in Scotland... for many things you don't need to fire up a big oven and its so versatile. It's not a feature rich as this one but it was very cheap, maybe about £50 ($60) and cooks things way faster than an oven and in most cases you can just load in there, set a programme and/or timer and walk away...
The timer functionality is the best. Combine it with a pressure cooker / crock pot with a timer and you're about 30m away from a meal! I'd like a smaller of those pressure cookers too to make smaller batch faster.
Best thing we've tried so far in the air fryer is chicken wings. Found that over cooking them gets them really crispy in trade off for dryer meat but it's fine because it's dark meat. Still amazing.
I saw this new airfryer on Sorted's channel within the past week & its really impressive. It looks like it does a much better job than a typical air fryer. Thank for documenting its temperature outputs and power usage!
I like the basket design for air fryers. I got one that's shaped like your toaster oven even though it insists it's an air fryer. I don't like it compared to a few friend's basket styled air fryers. Not this brand though but my old basket designed air fryer snapped off at the handle after a few months of use.
Have you ever gone over what you're using to format your programs output? Those floating temperatures in what looks like a terminal are really cool and I would like to know how to do it. I have an actual use case for something like that at the moment.
That looks like a pretty good product. I'll need to check the specs on the kick starter, I wonder if it will fit on my counter under the cabinets or if it is too tall. Thanks for the technical review.
Air fryers are just fancy tiny convection ovens. Mine has 2200 W and the container is "double" walled, so the air can circulate freely throughout the food which give them an advantage over my normal big oven.. but that's about it...
Air friers are amazing at reheating oven-cooked meats. Whenever I put over-cooked pork or chicken they seem to taste better than when it was freshly made.
I saw this on Sous Vide everything a couple of days ago, signed up for the email alert for when the kickstarter went live. Having seen a couple of videos now, and being a single guy, I see it as a good option for me. It would also probably be useful for on-call work situations and college living (probably not in dorms though) a little pricey for many college kids, but that set and forget is very handy for the busy student.
What’s the cleanup like of the tray ? My only reservation, and why I’ve not got one is the cleanup and also the use of nonstick and how that holds up over time .
I use dishwash liquid and hot water. I'm not a fan of non stick, but at least the tray doesn't get nearly as hot as a frying pan, so it should last longer than those.
Hi, you use a lot more oil than me when cooking, my air fryer does not have a water system, but it is a out of stock item now. I never had a deep fat fryer as I considered them too dangerous but as I am on my own now, I find it very useful, and I do most of my cooking in it now.
Very cool. I have an older and cheap air fryer and found it’s best use is for cooking for hungry little kids that can’t wait. Perhaps it’s time for an upgrade. Thanks!

I thought the point of an air fryer was NOT to use oil. I'm sure you did it for color and crispness, but it would have been nice to see how the fries came out without the oil.
Love making cauliflower in our air fryer! Break it up, add oil, pop it in, give it a shake a few times and when it is browned, it's done. So good. Perfect side for steaks, chops, burgers, etc cooked on the grill. Ours isn't that sophisticated, just a temp dial and a timer, but it does a decent job on meats when it is too cold/snowy to grill. Unlike an oven or toaster oven, the timer and cool to the touch outside allow us to be comfortable with our young teen using it when we aren't home. The biggest complaint I have is ours is just too small, yet too big at the same time. Can't fit enough food for 4 in it at once, but takes up a lot of counter space. Make me a double basket model that replaces my range hood (include a vent fan) and I'm sold!
they need to be small, cause tere's only so much power that you get out of a socket, and you need lots of heating power for the volume to fry things. But yes, capacity is an issue. One time, with guests, we had two going at once.
What you are looking for are options on the market now. There is a Ninja duo basket and also small convection oven/microwave combo. I have an 8qt that I use at the same time as my Instapot and it works well for large volume.
I was wondering: I have an old move with out the convection air feature. Is there any way to build a small electrical motor for a small fan that would be completely fine with oven temperatures?
You know, Matthias, I'm trying to learn to cook... And what I realized is that I like to make stuff. Anything really, even food! So, I've been thinking about getting one of those... Either way, my only issue is that I'm eating a bit too much... 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Never lose that curiosity. We have a combination air fryer and toaster oven unit. It's useful enough and fast enough and does a nice even cooking job that we don't even own a microwave anymore and rarely use our full-size oven. Edit: Also, any of your long-time viewers know without a bloody doubt that you're not a shill. If this was a turd, you'd be the first to tell us how much it stank and how many corn kernels you found. LOL.
How is it to clean up? And maybe you’ll be the only one who could appreciate this, but, what are your thoughts on the cooking exhausts and humidity flying past that fan above the heating element? Do you envisage the fan getting gummed up with oils and moisture and eventually losing efficiency? What about keeping that airway clear of exhaust grime? These are things that I think about. Not sure what other people think about in this regard
so far no issues, but we used ours less than 20x so far. The fan would need quite a layer of gunk to become ineffective, and I would guess, being so close to the heater, and spinning, that it would fling the grease off itself if there was much of it.
Yes, the size does matter, that is a small size. I have a 6 qt one and now uses the 2 qt model which is way quicker and more efficient than the family-sized one and it cooks crispier than the big one.
SortedFood also recently did a preview of this on their channel for those interested in another take, or seeing some other foods tested. No graphs though.
I have an air fryer toaster oven, but it doesn't have the water part. That gives me an idea to maybe add it to it. Should be easy enough. We use is all the time. Makes great mini pizzas from scratch. Also chicken nuggets and fries. It will cook everything that turns to rubber in the microwave perfectly so its kinda the Ying and yang with the microwave.
I have one of the cheapest air fryers (It has a very large basket) which I use quite a lot, especially with frozen french fries. I don't use any of the vent baskets, I just dump them in and toss them every five minutes. It will brown about four servings very nicely. I like to throw in a couple tablespoons of butter at the first tossing.
I appreciate how dynamic the videos and channels are and not just because you are reading a teleprompter and working the algorithm of the current CZcams fad but are sharing your interests. And even your sponsored videos are still more objective than most of the other people out there.
so far only cleaned the tray, which isn't hard. I'm pretty sure the element incinerates what goes on it, it glows a dull red. But we used it less than 20x so far.
I have a basic air fryer and I use it a lot. Try fresh non frozen hamburgers, they are delicious when you cook them with the air fryer, 10 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius (356F) and they are done, good color, nice bite, and still super juicy. Pretty much any type of meat will do. Fish, chicken, I even cook shoarma or kebab with it. And it all tastes great, and if you want you can get it nice and crunchy while the meat is still very juicy at the inside. And yes it cooks truly fast. That requires a little learning curve. But once you tried several things you know how long to cook it. My basic machine also has simple instructions written on it so that I can set the temperature correctly for the type of meat that I am going to cook. I follow those instructions and that works great for me. And the basket fits inside the dishwasher.
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221 I honestly only cook my hamburgers with the air fryer. I put some salt and pepper on it before I put them in the fryer. You can also make or buy your burgers with unions inside. If it didn't taste absolutely delicious I wouldn't do it. And on top of that it is fast, easy, and much healthier. There is no need to pay attention to it while it is cooking.
for cooking hamburgers, I think you might want to look into a "George foreman" or a contact grill. it cooks both sides of the burger at once making for a faster cooking time. the smallest size is a bit too small unless you only want a single burger there are also better electric grills that will snuff the smoke so it won't set off the fire alarm, those would be good for a dorm or small apartment.
Do you have an electric oven? I'd like to see a comparison of air fryer vs. oven. I believe you'd get the same result when using the upper rack positions, but would it take more power propotional to the containment vessel volume?
oven takes about 3x longer to get up to temperature. and after that, the heat probably doesn't have the same intensity. Being close to the element, and with the fan, makes a big difference.
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221 I don't know, the grill setting on my oven is pretty powerful... It melted the edge band off my cupboards, and annihilated the shroud of my thermocouple too. Any advice for re-attaching the edge band would be greatly appreciated, the darn things are just flopping around now.
Yea, I do like the air fryers a lot. I don't find that they cook "fries" the way that I want. I prefer my fries to be more crispy, and when the fries lay over other fries, they don't cook as evenly. I have found they work really well for things like Sausages in the morning, or for heating Frozen Corn Dogs, after 30 secs in the microwave for a quick thaw, I throw in the Air Fryer for 5 mins... done. It is very fast cooking for the most part.
I was having dinner while watching this video. After watching you make fries, I couldn't stop myself, and made frier in my air fryer too. Now, I'm overly stuffed and wish I hadn't. 🤣😂😅
The thing that's nice about the computer controlled system is that they can always tweak the programs to better finish stuff off, like those burgers you weren't too thrilled about. I wonder if this product will be hackable...
Saw this on sorted food as well, it seems for once it's a kickstarter that isn't just a shameless cash grab. The temperature probe is the real deal here, giving you full control of how done you want the meat. I miss that in my Xiaomi air fryer.
Great video, I’m really curious about the water and potentially baking breads, since steam injection ovens are rare and quite expensive. Air fryers are essentially convection ovens, and I prefer the toaster oven shape for loading so personally ended up tabletop convection oven more like your toaster oven, but this seems like a great product for those that like this form factor.
It doesn't have a bread mode, and the water injection only happens in the automatic programs. But I don't think this would work all that well for bread. The heat comes from the top, and if the pan was full of dough, the bottom wouldn't get enough heat.
I made small buns in my air fryer, and with the hot air circulating underneath, they came out very well. I also have 2 spray bottles: oil and water to use as needed.
I bought a basic one and I’ve net exactly found it convenient. It doesn’t have and inbuilt return paths, so if you fill it so that there’s a layer of fries, it basically just acts as a clumsy broiler. Turn everything every 4-5 minutes and it works fine, but it’s not great. Not sure if it’s any faster really. The newer ones with a rotisserie, racks, and the ability to dehydrate look a lot more worth the counter space, but by that point I’m not sure that you’re saving all that much compared to an oven, so the selling point gets wonky.

Either way, my only issue is that I'm eating a bit too much... 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family!
Looking good Man...
That's pretty interesting. I have used air fryers that really only work on frozen battered foods that I don't really want in my diet anyways.
Nice review! But how do you clean the thing? The tray's loose parts OK but the rest? Will it end up as your old oven after some time? :)
so far only cleaned the tray, which isn't hard.
Good to know. The thin pre-made patties aren't optimal in the fryer.
Your #3 of people that have been sponsored this air fryer in the past month!
Easy on the canola oil. I'd stick with extra Virgin olive oil instead.
for cooking hamburgers, I think you might want to look into a "George foreman" or a contact grill. it cooks both sides of the burger at once making for a faster cooking time. the smallest size is a bit too small unless you only want a single burger
there are also better electric grills that will snuff the smoke so it won't set off the fire alarm, those would be good for a dorm or small apartment.
I have one myself. For me it's basically a smaller, economic oven. Particularly if you don't have gas. And you can put mine in the dishwasher
How do you feel about heating non stick surface chemicals? Do you think a ceramic version matters
Personally lover our enamel pans (ceramic coating) but they are heavy. wouldn't want that in an air fryer, but stainless steel would be nice.
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221 yeah, maybe a small stainless convection oven would do the trick. Thx!
Thermal imaging is a handy tool, wish they were a bit cheaper.
You can get low-resolution camera modules for something like £100.
Place FROZEN burgers and lamb chops etc in the air fryer if you want a char on the outside.
the second burger patty I did I put in frozen, for better results.
This thing would be great for roasting coffee.
usually, it stinks of plastic that gets way too hot
but this one looks like it is metal, so thats good i guess
Yea, I do like the air fryers a lot. I don't find that they cook "fries" the way that I want. I prefer my fries to be more crispy, and when the fries lay over other fries, they don't cook as evenly. I have found they work really well for things like Sausages in the morning, or for heating Frozen Corn Dogs, after 30 secs in the microwave for a quick thaw, I throw in the Air Fryer for 5 mins... done. It is very fast cooking for the most part.
Fun to shake up the content a little bit. 👍
They blow hot air on chips. :D
I believe you
I don't do Kickstarters any more. Either fund your own initial production runs or I'm not interested.
wait till July then.
I personally like random stuff videos like this, showing off tech, how it works, how it’s advancing etc
The obvious question is - are those angled cupboard doors above the range hood angled to follow the ductwork? Do they open, or is it just decorative?
they are angled because they need to cover the range hood on the front, but not proturde in front of the crown molding between the cabinet on the top.
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221 that makes sense, didn't see the crown moulding in the shot.
The newer ones with a rotisserie, racks, and the ability to dehydrate look a lot more worth the counter space, but by that point I’m not sure that you’re saving all that much compared to an oven, so the selling point gets wonky.
yes, I turn over the fries about two times during the cooking too
To reheat pizza use a frying pan with some water (use a lid). Life changing!
is it not just a tabletop convection oven?
