Overwatch was probably my favorite game of the past decade. I'd just jump on for an hour every day, play 5 or 6 games of Mystery Heroes, have a great time. Only ever played Comp to get my placements done each League, owned every skin and had like 700 Loot Boxes, never paid a dime. I was Blizzard's nightmare, so they made OW2 mine.
Yep. At the end of the day they only care about mindless big payers, not longtime loyal/dedicated players.

I started boycotting Actiblizzard around the time of WoW:BfA. Quit WoW after 15 years and haven't given them a dime since then. It was quite disappointing to see half of my friends buy D4. No integrity.

Never knew RL played deep rock galactic. That’s awesome. 1000hrs scout main, it’s my second most played game after CS and I love it.
Since the topic of embedded streams comes up so often, I want to add one nugget of information to the pile:
Back when they launched OWL, Twitch would also redirect inactive users to the streams. This happened to me once when I had the tab inactive in another screen. I can 100% guarantee you that it wasn't a so-called "raid" or a misclick. I had a programming VOD there waiting for me to watch it, but suddenly I started hearing OWL commentary out of my speakers. I think this was an even more egregious and dishonest way of padding the numbers.
honestly when it comes to the microsoft deal. I hope to god the UK stands it's ground. these huge buyouts are beyond anti consumer. or atleast some governing body regulates them to hell. A start would be to get rid of the awefull practise of exclusives

I'm a big arpg nerd and I didn't buy diablo, probably never will. The price is just ridiculous for an arpg, especially if it's going to Bobby. Path of Exile is doing perfectly fine and it's still a blast to play.
Well didn't the FTC ask a federal judge to put a hold on the MC/Activison deal? And UK said no (for now), so who knows might be it even fails. Or MC somehow plays some "long con game" and pulls it thru in two years or something. IDK

As of today they are selling that pve content. You HAVE to buy the bundle to get access to it. And you can only play with your friends if they’ve also bought the bundle.
My reason for not buying D4, or other Activision Blizzard titles, isn't noble.
I simply don't trust them. I do not trust them that they won't make it all worse down the line. I do not trust them that they won't make changes to reduce the quality of the game in order to fleece people for cash. It's a live service game. I don't get to own it. Once I am bought in, I am at the mercy of any changes. And they have shown that they are even willing to mess with things that aren't even live services, looking at the Reforged debacle.
It's self serving but a valid reason nonetheless.

Diablo's sales numbers are disappointing but not surprising. People have no self control these days, in any industry or market. How many angry posts and grandiose predictions were made about Netflix cracking on password sharing? They turned a record profit soon after it started, new subscribers in droves. Some people seem to have tied their self worth to brands and products, it's like they can't exist if they're not participating in the trend. We've created history's most boring cyberpunk dystopia.
This has been brought on by artificially induced high time preference behavior. We've had nearly 40 years of declining interest rates while accumulating record amounts of debt - but those days are over. Governments can no longer 'print cash' to dig themselves out of the financial hole due to a decline of energy production. The global economy is in the process of entering a recession but in order to get back to pre-2020 production, that will require an enormous amount of investment in the natural resource industry and will take years before new oil fields or copper mines can come into production.
Give it another year or two. Your Cyberpunk Dystopia is going to get more interesting as food prices rise. Pay no attention to the food crisis that's been developing and documented but mostly ignored by the media.

Someone from Activision Blizzard could shoot someone on live television and it wouldn't matter if Diablo 4 was a good game. That's how it works for pretty much every single medium

I got some stuff to say about this, but I should preface this that I have a stake in the merger due to owning stock, thus please take what I say with that in mind in addition to any other reasons I may explain for certain points. And don't buy any stock just because someone else has. Learn to do your own due diligence to determine if the stock is a good investment for you.
NetEase - I wanted to add that I saw some articles covering this, and what it seemed to me was the story was changing from Activision messed it up big by saying something terrible to NetEase to NetEase threatening Activision for a better deal or else they will make sure it gets blocked in China & make sure Activition gets no business in China at all (and thus Activision decided to leave instead of getting blackmailed). I don't know the truth between those two things, but here are two things that did happen. China passed the merger some time after those articles were starting to appear. Additionally, China made up so little of Activision's budget that it barely moved the needle for the company's profitability (I don't recall how much, but I think China made up like 5% or less of the total budget.).
FTC - At the time of the stream, FTC was still reviewing case in their internal courts after blocking it back in December(I believe). Recently, FTC took the case to federal courts which should speed up the process dramatically. The short and sweet of it (because there has been so much that I honestly just don't want to explain, so take the next part here as my assessment of what I heard from people I consider to be legal experts) seems to be that Microsoft's case is solid, but the CMA & FTC are dragging their feet to make the process as long as possible because that is their only chance of victory. CMA & FTC feel like they are colluding with each other to get the deal blocked (including a key person in the CMA decision process apparently working for playstation's law firm). The reason FTC brought the case now to federal court (even though it does expedite the case) is that Microsoft was planning on closing the deal while the FTC was still doing their stuff in internal courts, but Microsoft can't do that due to it being now in federal court. The possible dealbreaker is if the US courts will grant the FTC a PI for the case which basically will mean that the FTC can take its sweet time to decide on the case which can extend the close date to December of 2023 at the earliest. Microsoft is pulling all the stops to get the deal done by July 15th due to having to pay blizzard a penalty and re-evaluating staying in the deal. The PI hearings are going to take place on the 24-27th of this month (i could be off on the dates). It seems like the courts will be in favor of Microsoft due to a lot of stuff, but we'll see. I'm no law expert.
Just a personal funny note. I find it funny that basically every sector of ActivisionBlizzardKing is profitable, but the most profitable is King (more than activision & blizzard segments combined). I guess (Overwatch + CoD + WoW + Hearthstone + Diablo) < CandyCrush

No Diablo 4 - BlizzLauncher uninstalled 2 years ago already - not even watching let's plays or similar. One has to be principled to make a change - otherwise you're just a tool.

Just to tackle Richard saying that people who get "offended" about pride stuff aren't well: it is starting to get really fucking annoying as a normal dude to see this woke agenda pushed literally everywhere. Many people use games to escape the normal life they are living. So the last thing these people want to see is this pride garbage pushed even into games they are playing. If I played OW I would just straight up boycott the game this whole month until that stuff is gone.
