The jets really have to retire 33 someday. He was such a fan favourite and a truly unique talent. There’s never been a player like him and I doubt there ever will be again. Enjoy fishing big guy, you earned it!
Amen! A true unicorn and legend.
@@beyond_thebench come back to us Buff
@@colink638 please! Haha
We in Winnipeg didn't win a cup with him, BUT I'm thankful for his best years being played for us. Dustin IS the reason so many tickets got sold. No offense these players are set for life after about 2 seasons. Leaving 14 million on the table is not a big deal when you have made about 50 million already. Most importantly he didn't abandon Winnipeg for a better team or bigger money. He retired. Once a Jet always a Jet unless you are named Evander Kane.
He always put on a show, a pleasure to watch every night!
Or PLD.
Or Trouba.
Age, injuries, the physical and mental fatigue of the road over the long season, 82 games, plus preseason, now international preseasons, playoffs. He had done his thing, it became time for living. He followed his heart, great story, fantastic career, he made enough money, won the cup. He should be in HHF.
Absolutely! Sailing off into the sunset as a legend of the game.
Quitters aren’t celebrated in the HHOF
are you kidding. Once they mandated the jab he called it..Good for him
As a NYR fan, Byfuglien scared the crap out of me when the Rangers played CHI or WPG. I couldn't imagine going up against that guy in a game.
As for his decision to leave the game for fishing, I totally get it. I wish I could retire and just fish as often as possible. Nothing but respect for this guy.
I always liked him. When he had those two Vegas players on the ice 😂😂😂 that was gold
Core memory of Buff!
Extremely smart athlete. Be your own person is a great attribute.
One of the great personalities the game has ever seen!
In early 2017 I had two consecutive surgeries on my lower spine. When I came out of the haze and fog of being under after the first surgery the nurse in the intensive care unit asked "how do you feel?"
My reply was "Like I just took a hit in the corner from Dustin Byfuglien"... to which she laughed like hell.
Big Buff was a joy to watch in Winnipeg all those years. He's definitely missed and will never be forgotten. All the best to him, hope he's enjoying early retirement. If anyone earned it, he did.
😂 He was indeed a unicorn, we miss ya Buff!
Dustin my friend your sadly missed ! I hope what and where ever you are i wish you all the best ! Thumbs-up on a great carrier !
Amen! 👏🏻
As a Winnipeger I have 2 Jets jerseys but only 1 name bar..buff..he was a unicorn n I miss him dearly on this team..I hope he’s happy Tks buff!
A Jet legend forever!
Every Jets game I attend I wear my 33 jersey with pride as he still is my favourite Jets player!
Love that!
We miss him, but he did the right thing. He is a Jets legend for sure.
We miss ya Buff!
He honestly deserves to be in the Hall of Fame of his career wasn't cut short guaranteed he would have a Stanley Cup under his belt by now if he hasn't already oh wait he has NHL please put this giant man in the Hall of Fame it's been
Get Buff in!
He was always true to himself. A lot of players of any sport not just hockey stick it out and their bodies pay the price.. He walked away when it was right for him. He did it his way on his terms not driven by the all mighty $. There should be more like him. I am proud of him.
Amen!
I salute you Big Buff. Thanks you
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dustin, I am glad that you are taking care of you. Only you know what your body can & can not take in the long run. Mentally or physically. I am very proud of you, & also very happy that you are taking time out for yourself. I miss you on the ice my friend, for sure. But in the end, it is your choice. You will always be one of my favorite players in the history of the game. Miss you my friend, but very happy for you in life. Peace to you always Dustin. 🫡
Well said!
What a legend, there will never be another Buff!
Everyday I’m Byfuglien 🙌🏻
😂😂😂 love it!

Is it from "every day I'm shufflin" from party rock anthem by LMFAO?

@@beyond_thebench
I knew it, from the way it was pronounced.
I grew up with Dustin, great man and has always been cut from a different cloth. Never forget the year he left our team for juniors
His greatest accomplishment was convincing the hockey world that his name doesn't have "fugly" in it.
😂
Big fan of Buff; Was family life issues part of his retiring; Hope he is at peace and happy;
Miss ya Buff, you were a beauty!
fair play & respect to buffy! hes feckin entitled to do what he want with his life without anyone talkin between!
Amen!
My favorite player to never play for the Leafs. I only ever cheer for Leaf players but Buff was awesome. Total package. I'm glad he's found happiness. Hey, he likes fishing more than hockey. Great for him.
I remember Buff being more cautious and timid after the ankle injury alongside that concussion. Still came back for the playoffs and we’d have a cup if they didn’t hand the series to Vegas.
Remember when Scheifele got a penalty for high sticking himself with Stone’s stick?
Ya! The injuries definitely factored into him stepping away from the game for sure.
1 of the most underrated players to ever step on ice.
he is 1 of the GOAT's
Jets were on a tear in 2018. Imagine if he had stayed
What coulda been!
Big Buff was my daughter's favorite Blackhawk even with the star studded lineup they put on the ice. When asked why she just said he's a beast dad! And he continued to dominate after going to the Jets but still enjoyed watching him just laying it out every game. As an old beer leagues goalie we have one human that skates with us in similar fashion. About the same build as Buff and the heavy shot that knocks the cobwebs out like getting hit with a brick. I can't imagine Buff ringing one off my dome. I'd probably need a brain transplant 🧠 🔧. An exceptional competitor and warrior.
Very well put, he was a beast indeed! 💪🏻
Would have like to seen information about what he's doing now in more detail
I wish we knew more! Haha basically all we know, he’a fish’n haha
Absolutely respect his decision, even though he left all that money behind, had some good years left. He had essentially did it all and you can't put a price tag on happiness. Also for how physically demanding his role was, he probably didn't want to risk injuring himself or take all that abuse if you don't have to. It's like walking away from the poker table while you are ahead is how I look at it.
6"5 260lbs DB was a force to be reckoned with.
A BEAST!
For your personal entertainment, watch videos of BUFF’s greatest hits! THAT IS ENTERTAINMENT! Miss you big guy!!!
Some great montages out there of Buff just crushing people haha
Rumour is he’ll be back for the 2024 playoffs.
Back for a cup run!
Always great to see Buff in his natural habididiitattdatatdat
😂😂😂 ooops
@@beyond_thebench 🤣😁
I saw Byf when he played with the Thrashers. Dude is a BEAST!
Major beast!
When Big Buff retired the Jets game just wasn't the same. His brute strength and hockey ability was a pleasure to watch. I'm sure being hit by Buff was in many opposing players mightmares. Love to see him play again!
We miss ya Buff!
I'll say what I always say when Byfuglien's name comes up... There have been better players who have retired since him, even a few HoFers, but I'm hard pressed to name a single player that retired since Big Buff that I miss more.
He was that freaking unique.
Big BYF was cement wall , but he was not a goon H also had great Stick savvy
Oh ya very talented player for his size!
As a Jets fan I Sure do miss Buff Great player!!
The NHL isn’t the same without him!
I love Big Buff!!
Buff was the best!
A true Power Forward who could also play Defense...amazing!
He was a unicorn indeed
Buff was that guy. Love to see the American boys doing big things! Dude was the size of an offensive lineman. BTS is that guy! Dont know the man personally, but hes a real one.
Ya a true specimen!
Well I hope comes back what a amazing hockey he is ..
Good tough player big part of Hawks cup win ! 1) Ankle injury 2) liked a nip once and a while ! Caught up,with him
I’ll keep my jersey forever
His legend lives on! 🤘🏼
Buff wanted his future and he saw it and he grabbed it. As heartbroken as he left all us jets fans, you can’t be mad at the guy for doing what he wants. Leaving behind 14 mill doesn’t matter either, I’m sure he and his family have a big enough bank account to dismiss that anyway lol cheers buff
Well said sir!
Miss seeing his magic....glad to hear is doing well ...hoping him all the best
We miss ya Buff!
Favourite Player Ever
🙌🏻
The buff the man the legend
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
He left at the right time, a few small injuries and age catching up was probably a good choice. Seemed like the fun guy to play with and the game and the coaches are probably way too serious these days.
The league changed when Buff left!
I equate his story to Barry Sanders. With fame and fortune comes a price to be paid. They both walked away instead of paying the price that is expected.
Great comparison! Definitely sometime athletes in general have to deal with.
Thank you 33🏆
❤️33
Byfuglien's motto was you can't always get a goal, but you can always get a hit...
Love it - what a warrior!
You need to travel your own path and protect your own health! 🥳Buff
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Sorry..."Those are some pretty impressive stats..."
Fun video, good job.
Thank you!
One of my favorites. He was phenomenal with the Blackhawks in the 2010 playoffs.
A FORCE in that playoffs!
God loves u all God bless
This overly produced video completely over looks several major events leading to his retirement.
I’m a Jets fan, and a Byfuglien fan. He was never comfortable with his celebrity status it seems and was a fairly humble guy. But he knew when to step up, and was always his own man.
What this video completely omits is the untimely, recurrent, ankle injury that sidelined him indefinitely, and pushed him into retirement. There was controversy over the way his days in Winnipeg ended. He kind of retired without telling anyone, then wanted to come back and be paid for the time he was absent. I forget the details but it was sad the way it ended, for fans at least. No retirement announcement. No ceremony. No goodbye. He just faded away.
Andrew Ladd is a class act too. Hope they’re enjoying whatever they choose to do.
To this day, still miss Byfuglien in the line up.
Lord Byfuglien's best quote:
" I hate Halloween." If only more men hated the spirit of deception and begging! If anyone knows where that video clip is about hating Halloween,, please let me know.
This is a real thing?? Haha
I hope you are content, safe travels
Thank you
👍🏻
Berry sanders retired at 30 while still rushing for top of the league numbers from the lions. Dood still had 2 or 3 really good yesrs in him
Great example
Only Byfuglien can answer whether or not the decision to leave hockey was right for him. Since he didn't come back to continue his hockey career, I suspect that the answer might be yes, It was the right choice for him at the time.
Spot on!
He was also tired of getting injured I remember him mentioning that on an interview the moment he joined Winnipeg Jets I became a Jets fan but when he left I was no longer a fan
Top star in jets 2.0
Absolutely!
Dustin Byfuglien is my GOAT
🙌🏻
The stick buff traded for a rod is in my room lol
True story!?
JUST LET HIM GLIDE INTO THE NET AND SCORE 🥅🏒
Big buff the freightrain
remember how bad he handled pronger, one of the best dmen in the world was throwing tantrums about buff playing forward too hard lol
Owned him!! Haha
@@beyond_thebench even tho i loved pronger, thats one of my fav nhl moments ever
@@the.wayne.b two beasts!
HOW OLD IS HE? He should watch the game live that will be awesome
38 now, he left the game years ago tho. I don’t imagine he even watches much anymore haha
I would question his past. Luckily he doesn't have any issue with alchol or drugs (that we know of). That would be his business if so. There could be some sort of trauma like what happen to Fleury back in the day. I wish him good health no matter what his decision.
Possibly! Wouldn’t say he is the type to come out and express those types of things if that were the reason.
Dustin couldn’t play in the NHL today.
Because it’s too soft and he’d get suspended after every hit.
Right! 😂 He’d be crushing these kids out there today.
How do you walk away
Ask Barry Sanders
he will have to come back for a year so we can retire him properly :D
That’d be awesome!
Was hardly in his prime when he retired 😂
He was past his prime
Maybe!
6:53 habatadatat
😂 tongue twister lol
Watched him in PG with the Cougars. If he ever decides to lace them up again for a run for the Cup, I hope the Leafs grab him....I don't care how old he is!
That’d be wild, Leaf fans would be going nuts haha
It's his life, who am I to say?
Exactly!
I am no fan of Tkachuk. However, if I were a GM of a NHL team with a small size of brain, I would rather have Tkachuk than Msthews if the goal was to win the stanley cup.
Individually, yes, I do believe Mathews will be a better STATS players ( more numbers on paper)
However he is one dimensional and his stayle of play thus far proved does not work in today's Playoff Hockey.
Also, as a Royal Canadian Lad cheers for Canadian Based NHL teams, looking at today's NHL, Florida Panthers is in a better position to win the cup.
NHL has been trying to 'Grow' games in places Hockey has no business ( California, Texas and all of Southern United State)
Yes. Of all players forementioned , I would take Tkachuk in a heart Beat.
Totally fair point that I think a lot of people would agree with! Until Matthews proves himself in the playoffs, he’s just a stud regular season player.
His life his choice
Absolutely!
Amazing player, however this video answer ls little about his surgery or issues with leaving the Jets. It's clickbait
Truly!
"It's REAL LIFE"
WTF are you even talking about? Byfuglien did NOT take a 3 year break and return to the nhl
honorable mention: "habititat"
😂
Would like to see him on Spittin chiclets
That’d be unreal!
Habititat?!
Ya bit of a tongue twister for us apparently 😂
Great job repeating the exact same thing and the exact same clips 6 times and making it seem like a video with substance lol. You forgot the cocaine bust and legal issues.....
👍🏻
I like how the nhl never speaks about him. He's blacklisted for what ? Because he wanted to retire his choice.
Ya you don’t hear much about him really! But I think he wants it that way.
So, where he is? We know who he was, but your topic was: WHERE HE IS??? You and your channel doesnt deserve any like since you never answer your own question.. I will report that.
He’s fishing, somewhere! Haha
Byfuglien owed his fans an explanation of why he deserted them. He owed them that. He hurt a lot of people, not by walking away - that’s his right- but to just leave them hanging and wondering why? that was the height of rudeness and self-centeredness no matter how you cut it. As far as this article goes, it totally sucks. You praise him endlessly and keep hinting you are going to explain what happened as if you had inside info but you don’t. Anyone who is a Jets fan knows nothing new at the end of this article. Winnipeg Jets were on the cusp of greatness when he left and the organization has never recovered.
Just another whinny sore loser. Get over it and remember the good times he brought. He doesn't owe you a thing and he has a right to his private life just like you.
I agree with you on the fact that this video does sucks. It doesnt show anything new. Whats even worse is that this video hints that Buff loved hockey. He didnt. He only played and went pro because he was good at it. It made him rich and his plan was to always play until he was done. Also a major fail that they didnt show any footage of him playing this summer with Hossa at Hossa's farewell game. How do you fuck that up lol Multiple players current and retired have gone on record saying that he doesnt even watch hockey and unless he played with them, knows nothing about other players.
@@coreytrevor3910
If anyone is selfish it's you two Bozos. Unlike many overpaid, underperforming athletes he gave full value for his salary. He doesn't owe the Wpg fans an explanation anymore than if you two leave your jobs for a better future. I'm certain you haven't had concussions which have left those with more than one at severe risk of huge neurological problems.
Nobody owes anything to anyone for the decisions they make for themselves. Fans can accept it and move on, or they can whine about it, but he doesn't owe anyone anything.
Jets better retire #33 sooner rather than later
Agree!
didn't take the shot so he cant play
😂
Spoiler alert: He went fishing. Don't waste your time on this clickbait. Thumbs down.
*Update: He’s still fishing 😂
Must be nice.. I'd gladly walk away from my underpaid shit job and fish all day..
😂
Wow, do you repeat yourself in every video? Must be exhausting
Nice
Wow Anthony your a real gem 😅 take some notes and retire you dick
Right. Anyone with nothing insightful to say just repeats themself. I hung on to the end thinking he would get to the point he kept alluding to but never did. Waste of time.
Who cares
Clearly lots of people
The worst generic naratif scrip i ever seen. This video is bs
