  • @joes6311
    @joes6311 Před 6 lety +24

This movie has one of the scariest moments in all Halloween films, when the Mom is looking out the window and sees her son going into the Myer's house it's just soooo creepy because you know she has to go over there to try and save her son, but she also knows the danger. It's just so counter to normal horror movie cliches (where we see someone do something dumb for a dumb reason). Great review! I'd love to see your cut of the film!

The Thorn mythology was a brilliant addition to the franchise, it raised new questions and mysteries and I believe added to the mystique of Michael Myers. The idea that Michael appears when the constellation of thorn appears… man, that’s just epic. This movie is underrated and the Thorn mythology is under appreciated.

@@valeriebreidenstein8362 Oh yeah, it is so underrated.
To my shame I haven’t seen the Producer’s Cut yet. I’ve got the Theatrical Cut and the Bobby Digital Hybrid Cut. The Hybrid Cut is my favourite version as of yet.
I will get the Producer’s Cut eventually. I don’t think it will top the hybrid cut for me though. Mainly, because the full ritual scene is a bit tacky (I watched it on CZcams). Like, Wynn’s cape is going hard in the cheese department, which is cool, I’m down with that. But I would have handled the cult element in a more subtle way and toned down the Hammer Horror vibe the Producers Cut has. The Hybrid Cut gives you the best elements from both movies.
The fact that H6 has all these different cuts as well is awesome. Such a fun movie to be a fan of.

The look & atmosphere is perfect for a Halloween movie & i liked Paul Rudd & i liked seeing the older veteran version of Sam Loomis & it's an exciting thrill ride in my opinion. It was always such a rare film to find on video bk in the day out of all the franchise, a true Cult film. Another great video with heart & depth

This was the very first movie that introduced me to the Halloween franchise and Michael Myers. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old. Watched it with my older cousin during the daytime and holy crap I felt so nauseous and absolutely terrified as soon as Myers appeared from the darkness to impale that woman on the wall. I was immediately disturbed and addicted! The music, the mask, the kills, the setting/mood/atmosphere was super impressive to me at the time.

The thorn cult is meaningless but to me. That's a plus. Michael slaughters all of the thorn cult members to solidify that he isn't controlled by anyone. Definitely one of my favorite sequels and movies in general of all time. Gets waayy too much hate for what it is. Daniel Farrands only had good intentions and wanted to give Myers a reasonable backstory. This was the best Myers imo, with stunt guys: George P. Wilbur, A. Michael Lerner & Brad Hardin giving all their talents to the character, portraying him as a badass. Also one of the first and only times you ever see a very angry and power-walking (chase through the underground hospital) Shape. It never gets old. I at least wish they would've continued the story in comic-form or books, because I really wanted to see the rest of Danial Farrands' vision. Oh well, nice revisit/review!

    It terrified me.
The gritty look to it suits it greatly, the chase scene all the way to the barn is my favorite chase scene in the franchise, the tweak of metal in the score really suits the look and overall tone to it.
As for Michael......my goodness, he's my favorite Michael, the mask, the way he walks, his mannerisms "kisses the air" perfect.
The surgery room kill is my favorite scene in the whole franchise, the lighting is out of this world.

This movie has great lighting and atmosphere, acting, kills, an amazingly brutal Michael, great characters... technically, it is excellent. Regardless, the story is pretty bad in my eyes. It doesn’t, though, and the plot is what keeps this from ranking it very high compared to some other sequels. I still enjoy watching it, though.
This is your best review of this movie, and you really went into great detail. These revisited reviews are so long and detailed, and I love them. So many years after you’ve started your channel, your reviews continue to get better. So glad I subscribed to you so long ago!

3rd and last. When you review movies, you never realize how much you learn along the way. And often times, the movies that we love the most are the first that we review, which I think is a mistake on my part. But I had to go back and get this one "right" once and for all.

Great job with video Lee! I always thought that most of the fans and other people who saw this film were either confused or pissed off due to all the story changes and problems theatrical cut had that they didn't pay attention on how some other parts of the film were actually well directed, like all the creepy atmosphere. I like Producer's Cut more but i would still prefer if they kept death scenes from theatrical version, which i always thought were very cool.

I think this is my favourite in the series, due to the potential it had and what could have followed (I personally saw Steven growing up into being Michael's anti heroic counterpart, wanting revenge on Michael and the cultists for what they did to Jamie).
My personal opinion is that both cuts have things that work and things that don't. For example, I like that Donald Plesance had more of a role in the Producers cut and the emphasis on the Strode family.
What I liked in the theatrical cut was how the curse ultimately played out like a Red Herring; it was nothing more than a theory that Tommy came up with but is never verified and it gives way to Michael being pure evil as usual (I came to this conclusion by seeing both cuts side by side and noticing all the specifics that made Michael out to be a puppet being ommited in the theatrical version).
I'd also say that Michael's evil is emphasized when he kills Jamie in the theatrical version, as he not only does it in a brutal fashion, but he does while mocking her previous attempt to reach out to him. Hell, in that version the cultists all turn out to be some kind of ruse while Wynn was just a guy fascinated by Michael's evil.

Totally agree that 6 is best myers. H6 was my fav growing up. Also just saw the producer cut for the first time ever yesterday after hearing about it for years.. didnt like it as much as theatrical, but agree with u on the first 2/3 having great character scenes. But immediately i thought wow it would be cool to see like a spliced cut with best of both. Then i find this!! You are the man sir!

It was so much fun to hear about your hybrid cut! Awesome video and love Halloween 6! I prefer the producers cut except for the ending. The ending to the producers cut pissed me off because Michael getting stopped by rocks was stupid!😂 Also didn't like the fact that Michael is the dad of Jamie's baby

Also how do I get a copy of your cut of this movie? I would love to see it. You made so many great points especially about how everyone still talks about this movie so much and I never hear anyone ever mention H2O in at all. I’m glad it gets the love because it really is a special movie and just has this amazing feel to it. The feeling is hard to put into words, but I get excited every time someone mentions this movie and of course when I watch it. As always man great work. Great review Lee! Yes! Halloween 6 is definitely one of my favorite sequels too. It very underrated in my opinion. It had a good score, awesome mask, awesome character's, and just a great movie. I loved even as watching it as a little kid and still do. Yes, there is a couple of problems in the movie and it's not as good a few movie's in the series but I still enjoy the movie. I even love the Producers Cut. My rating for Halloween 6 on a scale of 1-10 is about an 8 or 8.5.

I love Halloween 6, its arguably the scariest Halloween in the original franchise and Michael mask is probably my 3rd favorite. Not to mention this is the first time we ever see Michael as brutal as he is. This was all before Rob Zombie had his chance at the franchise. I really need to watch season of the witch. I heard great things about it.

I HATED this movie for a long time, but after rewatch a few months back, I really liked it! But I still have a lot of problems! The Thorn concept is still dumb, but I ignore it now, so it doesn’t bother me as much. But the acting is great, Myers is terrifying, the kills are amazing (even Jamie’s death, I’m ashamed to say😢😢😢). The score is absolutely awesome, and this film is really good! I’d give it an 8/10. In your case, it’s a low Purchase Worthy. Great revisited review, Lee, as always!

    Good video Lee! :D
I adore the H6 Producers Cut. The ending is a little lacklustre, but it does fit with the film as a whole well enough so I accept it in a way. The atmosphere is the best of all the Halloween films. This film has totally stood the test of time despite the madness of its production. I honestly love it more than the original. 4-6 are my favourites. I'd love them to continue from 6 but I don't think it will ever happen.
Also, I honestly wish Danielle Harris was in this film. She's criminally underrated by the people behind this franchise.
Edit: So cool you did your own cut btw. I do wish the Producers Cut's ending had more vamp like the theatrical. It's the one thing it's missing alongside Danielle. Want to also say I agree that JC Brandy really did a good job as an older Jamie.

I actually never minded the exploration of the 'thorn' story line and the explanation
behind Micheal's madness. "Whenever it appears, he appears". lol
Micheal was truly the most brutal in Halloween 6. If you look at the kills across
the series, H6 has some of the most memorable in my opinion.
The electrocution of the stepfather in the basement comes to mind.
When he foams at the mouth and his head explodes, with the flashes
from the electrical current, like a strobe light showing Micheal's eyes behind his mask.
And also the hospital scene is brutal. Or the scene of Micheal slaying the boyfriend
and the showcase of his viciousness in slow-motion through the POV of the telescope.
Just... he was brutal in H6.
There was the Raining Red scene.. etc...
I was a fan of the electric-guitar Halloween theme which I believe only worked for this installment but it's very catchy and well done. I ended up buying the soundtrack.
I liked Micheal's walk in the film. As he moved forward intimidatingly with his fists
    clenched by his sides.
Pleasence's last Halloween film that he starred in.
There's also many flaws in the film too of course.
The casting of Jamie probably being the most controversial, but overall,
I think 6 is one of the more scarier Halloween sequels, maybe the scariest.

    • @DrumdumsMovieReviews

Yeah I agreed Gorge P Wilbur and A Michael Lerner they're the creepiest and scariest Michael ever if I have both the theatrical and the producers cut and if they're were a Tupelo con and both actors were there actually I would bring my Michael Myers mask I wish I had all three and the thorn film I would ask them to sign them.

  • @Melvinwacko
    @Melvinwacko Před 5 lety

The Michael in this one might be my favorite one. The performance and costume is great and it is one of the most brutal and angriest Michaels, which is shown well in the lab massacre. He also comes off as a antihero in this, considering how many of his victims are jerks. That radio host, the Strode dad and the evil doctors in the aforementioned massacre.
