Yes. I spent too many Halloweens throughout my childhood watching them on AMC and VHS to dislike them. I have a soft spot of the slept on sequels.. Halloween 4 is probably my favorite
H5 is a guilt pleasure of mine. I totally understand and agree with all it’s flaws. However it’s so nostalgic, plus you get crazy Loomis and a tall, creepy Aggressive Myers. I’ll take it !
Yes I really enjoy 5 too despite it's flaws. There are some great kill sequences in 5. To me it's great from when Michael kills Michael to get the camaro, to the showdown at the castle style Myers house. The laundry shoot scene absolutely terrified me. I like the look and feel of the movie as well. The feeling of nostalgia from the late 80's. A more organic and real time. Get rid of the man in black/thorn stuff, get rid of the humor music with the dumb cops, and at least kill Rachel off later with more honor, it would be a solid movie. I don't get why all the hate for Tina. Yes she is annoying, but she is not as bad as everyone makes her to be. I really like Don Shanks' portrayal of the shape. Donald Pleasance is still epic as Loomis, and Danielle Harris is an outstanding child actress. I don't know why there is so much hate for the mask in 5. I will admit it is not great, but it is not bad either. It still looks frightening. It kind of looks like he is more pissed than ever.
The positives of H5 for me are: Don Shanks as Myers (terribly underrated imo), Loomis' "In my heart, I knew Hell would not have him" speech, Michael the greaser's hilarious death and the laundry chute scene.

I'll tell you me thoughts on the film here: For me, this is when the series starts it's downfall. They should have waited 2 years instead of 1 because the story is just so lazy, it's obvious that they just made it up on the fly. The characters are really bad. Killing off Rachel like that was so unbelievably stupid and I wish that Rachel and Tina's deaths were switched. Thank god that the last act is pretty good and intense. But everything up to it is bad. I'm in the middle with this one and I give it like a 5/10. At least it's not as bad as 6-rzh2 (except h20)
23:09 I do agree Rachel surviving longer and even giving her life at the end would have improved things so much . I can see that they wanted to keep Jamie as isolated as possible but I always found it strange how Rachel and her parents were all leaving her in Haddonfield literally a year after the previous attack. Also I totally agree with the stalking, I really liked that he stalks in this one but the directing doesn’t draw you to him in the background.

Rachel never heard Jamie talk again. Yet Tina gets excited when she hears Jamie talk, when she had never heard her talk before. Makes no damn sense. It also disgusts me.
Just because Tina wasn't seen or mentioned in 4 doesn't mean she didn't know Rachel & Jamie. It's not like Lindsey & Grady would have been the only people Rachel knew lol.

I don’t hate the Tina character either I feel like she is redeemable when she saves Jamie in the end. I agree about Myers in jail it really does not work thankfully doesn’t last long lol. I really enjoy these D watches I wish I could do something like this with action movies, but I feel I’ll get hit with damn copyright strikes. It’s nice to see Halloween 5 get some love plus I do love the mask and Don shanks as Myers is excellent. Great job sir. ✌️
Just finished watching this. I completely agree that the nighttime scenes are much better than the daytime scenes. I never thought about that before and I definitely agree. 14:39 “Halloween Erection” 😂
I always read it as Tina could almost feel Rachel was there & something was off... like something really bad had just happened in that room to her best friend & it kind of creeped her out for a second that’s why the doorbell scares her & makes her jump.
I love H4 but I've always struggled to enjoy H5. The best I can say about H5 is that maybe it's juuuust good enough to watch without having to fast-forward through the entire flick.
I love the Thorn trilogy, but I’ve always had trouble appreciating Halloween 5, and the Giallo explanation is blowing my mind. Looking at the movie through that lens definitely changes my perspective a bit

Awesome video Lee, these are alot of fun. That is the same Sony region 2 player I have as well and yeah, my only nitpick is it can be a little noisy sometimes. God I love Deep Red, it is probably my favorite Argento film. It is so good. I already posted my mini rant on Halloween 5 on Kller Flicks when you posted the link to this video so I won't go into it again haha. I still like this movie but it is one that I revisit the least right second only to Resurrection (the abomination). I look forward to more of these types of videos man, they are so fun. The DWatch returns! This movie is a perfect example of what happens when you rush something that could have been special. Instead it turned out to be a mess. Either way, I still enjoy watching it every year. 👍 🎃
I honestly love Halloween Five and I think it's because I saw it when I was like 8 (I'm 20 now) and I thought Michael's mask was scary and I just loved lots of the scenes like the laundry shoot scene. and because some if not all parts were filmed in salt lake city in which is where I currently live. P.s yea I still recognize some bad scenes in the movie. And some parts are boring. Overall 7.5 /10

W/out Pleasance's epic level performance of character since part 6, it's the #1 missing piece of the franchise for it 2 ever b as great as it ever was for any future H movie made since his sad departure from life.It would be nice if Tony Moran had a small role or recast as Myers for (Kills) or (Ends) but that doesn't look like they ever had interest.
Never thought about it until now, but Jamies death scene in the theatrical cut of Curse could be seen as a little jab at H5. In 5, Jamie reached out to him while he's crying (ridiculous) and he almost let's her. In Curse, after she's impailed, she reaches out to him again. This time he sort of toys with her and mocks her for a second by putting his hands out, just before he violently impailes her further onto the farm equipment... Although Curse has a million problems as well, his portrayal is far more true to the character than it is in 5.

Well maybe Tina didn't die cause we don't see her dead, this is the last time we see her - cuts to next scene & edits out the shot that shows Tina dead on the stretcher, hand flop and all hahaha 😂 Sorry couldn't resist, had to give you some crap for that one 😉 I will say, it's funnier when people acknowledge something like that using some self-deprecating humor vs...uh this haha. We can all laugh together.

I may be bias because 5 (then 4) was the first halloween movie I saw as a kid and I think it has some really good chase scenes despite the overall movie’s downfall... the laundry chute scene, the car chase, the clinic chase, those suspenseful moments are some of the best in the series 🙌🏾

Of all the criticisms I've thrown at H5 over the years, I never had a problem with the score. Always found it very dark and one of the few redeeming qualities.

Although he would probably deny it if they wanted someone to play Loomis, Jr. I cannot think of anyone else who could do it better than J of WWAM. All he would have to do is dial it back and be serious...BAM...Loomis, Jr. Hell he even has the right looks for it!

I may be bias because 5 (then 4) was the first halloween movie I saw as a kid and I think it has some really good chase scenes despite the overall movie’s downfall... the laundry chute scene, the car chase, the clinic chase, those suspenseful moments are some of the best in the series 🙌🏾

Do you like the h5 score?
Not really. It's kind of lazy compared to the others. But it does have a quality about it.
Of all the criticisms I've thrown at H5 over the years, I never had a problem with the score. Always found it very dark and one of the few redeeming qualities.
