Sorry guys, but the creator of these cartridges kindly asked me to remove all links to their store. If you want to find products like these, just do a quick search on google or etsy! Thanks for watching! - Sammie
If anybody wondering, the store name is GameDuck. I've ordered from them before, very pretty cartridges :)
Thank you I actually wanted to buy that Crystal version pretty dope
i have pokemon ultra violet cartridge
why would they want less sales lmao
@@gramplebottom probably don't want publicity to get a cease and desist from Game Freak
Pokemon Firered Rocket Edition was incredible. Has you hooked all the way to the end. I finally got to say yes to that kid on the bridge and join Team Rocket! XD

*(SPOILER WARNING FOR Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)*
If I had any empathy for you, it would be the player having to pull the trigger on The Boss in Snake Eater during the cutscene where Snake kills her. It does happen eventually if you wait too long, but it still kind of sucks to do it.

Glazed is a fantastic Rom, I’ve played it twice already and played through Blazed Glazed (same story, added moves, different movesets and the early game isn’t as brutal) and the thing I love the most is that Tunod feels like a fantastic region to traverse. Both rich in culture and diversity, but the best part is that you get a Johto Postgame and you get to see Johto 3 years after GSC and it is so good. Heck just talking about it is making me wanna play it again. I hope you enjoy that one man, truly a gem of a game and one I recommend above Light Platinum, which is also good but I just like Glazed a little better.
I've got glazed on cartridge but get soft locked when go to get the package from the professor how do I stop this also how can I get blazed glazed as looks better then glazed I mean same game but bet it's no bugs soft locks
@@Martin.chapman the only way to get the game is to play it on PC by downloading the Rom. Or if you have a homebrewed 3DS, you can use a GBA to CIA converter and use FBI to download the rom onto your system.
I’m not sure how to avoid that softlock, I never encountered it myself so I can’t help you there. Sorry.
@@Cosmic_Espeon I’m very new to any of this stuff how do I find more information and any of this stuff
@@KyleBSmith-ub5dl for what exactly? To homebrew your 3DS or to play the Roms?
10:00 "I fought a old man right before i started filming this" 😂😂😂
ROM hacks aren't professionally made, yet there are multiple possible soft locks/corruption issues in Pokémon games since the beginning (the became especially apparent after X and Y)
yeah so true. I honestly hold most fan projects at a higher standard than modern pokemon games these days haha
Just look at the entirity of Scarlet/Violet.
Romhacks seem far more assured than that by contless leagues.
@@_-Lx-_ I couldn't agree more. Sword and Sheild had display glitches, but it was mostly fine. Other games had their fair share of faults, but were well made for the most part.
Scarlet/Violet releases: "Hold my beer"
Unfortunately, ROM hacks are far superior to official games nowadays.
@@MicaelAlighieri So superior that Nintendo is still actively hunting and shutting down old ROM hacks.
Man the people who go through these leaps to do these rom hack physical copies, this is awesome! Respect+
GS Chronicles was a huge deal because it’s a milestone for rom hacking. HGSS is also pseudo 3D, but the port is probably missing a lot of frames in every animation making it less fluid etc.
Awesome video, really cool stuff! That said 49 minutes lost, in a Pokémon, is like the first sit down and not that big a deal IMO. I'll be looking into these as I have a few Zelda ROM Hacks that are excellent.
Nice to see I'm not the only one that loves collecting these! So far I've got Liquid Crystal, Rocket Edition, Crystal Clear, Prism, and Clover. Seriously been considering getting the tools to flash my own cartridges at home.
I like the novelty of having a cartridge for each game with a custom label. I use an analogue pocket to play on so I can always stick roms on my SD card if I want to. I appreciate the advice though.
@@PowerHungryFool what tools do u need to make them at home?
@@Sminder01 Reproduction cartridges, a tool to flash the rom onto the cartridge, a computer ofc, and (optionally) a label printer.
I'm a big fan of physical copies of romhacks, homebrews, and bootlegs myself. Just for handheld Pokemon games alone I've got Super Pika Land, Pokemon Prism, Pokemon Super Gold 97, Pokemon Super Silver 97 Reforged, Pokemon Liquid Crystal, and Pokemon Unbound. I have plenty of non-Pokemon games, and non-handheld games too, though. Whether it be something like Pokemon Yellow on NES, or Smash Remix on N64, there's something really cool about pulling a out a game that was never on store shelves.
It's unfortunate that the cost of decent reflashable PCBs is so high, though, particularly if you want ones that will work for Pokemon games. I have the equipment myself, and flash cartridges, manufacture cartridge labels, get cases, design and print covers for the cases, the whole nine yards, but decent cartridges are definitely the biggest barrier to entry, financially speaking. That said, if you're interested in making your own, too, you may want to keep the following information in mind, so you don't end up accidentally spending money on something that doesn't suit your needs.
It's possible (but a pain) to get cheap Chinese repros and put different games on them, but even if you manage to get the correct PCB that you need (which you're never guaranteed to get), solder in a battery, and so on, Chinese PCBs are flimsy, low quality, and thus, much more prone to failure in a pretty short period of time. Plus, if anyone's looking to do Crystal Clear, battery saving is a race against the clock, because that game chews through an internal battery in usually, at most, 7 days.
There are BENNVENN carts, which I don't have experience using personally, but having browsed the shop before, they're marketed as being "higher quality" bootlegs directly from the same factories as the Chinese bootlegs. Can't attest to the quality, personally, but the PCBs definitely have the same IDs as Chinese bootlegs I've bought, and seem to be constructed in the same way. But, the price is only slightly higher than on Aliexpress, so for all I know, could be worth it.
Then you have RetroStage GBA Blasters, which are reasonably priced but don't support RTC reliant Pokemon games, and games with large FlashRAM.
Then there's insideGadgets flash carts, which there are models of to support pretty much any kind of game, but cost an arm and a leg. They're GREAT cartridges, a have a few myself, and am pretty confident they'll withstand the test of time, but they really break the bank. Most of my experience with a reflasher is on their GBxCart RW v1.3, and it works pretty well. It sometimes has trouble reading and writing carts reliably, but mine is something like 5 years old I think, and they've upgraded to 1.4 since then, and the 1.4 is (I'm pretty sure) $16-$20 cheaper than mine was, so if I didn't already have one, I'd personally go for it.
And in case anyone's interested in buying from Gameduck, I can't tell which, but the PCBs seem to be either Chinese Bootlegs or BENNVENN, so I wouldn't expect it to last. One of the ones I had ordered from them was dead by the time it made it through the mail to me, and despite saying they'd send me another one, they just gave me the run-around, saying they shipped out replacements but never providing evidence, and then trying to guilt trip me about it. So for anyone owning one of their cartridges already, if you have the equipment, it may be worth getting a higher quality PCB, and switching out the shell for the Gameduck one.
Best of luck on making your own carts if you end up going through with it! It can be really fun, and if you ever have anyone over to play games that's less familiar with this stuff, it can be cool seeing the looks on their face when they pull something off the shelf they've never seen before, like a Hyper Metroid, Fix-It Felix, or even a translation of a never-outside-of-Japan release, like Custom Robo on the N64. As a last note, if you intend to print your own labels, too, I recommend printable vinyl sticker paper (here's what I use www.amazon.com/dp/B0B56C18W7?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1). Photo paper is too thick to look natural, and regular copy paper looks crappy, and both need glue. Vinyl sticker paper looks pretty nice, is thin enough to look natural, and sticks on its own, all while having a slight shine to it that's close to the shine you get on official cartridge labels. Plus, if you branch out to systems that bend the label (like Genesis, SNES, or NES) it's a godsend to have something that bends so easily and doesn't spring back up on its own.
I know this was probably longer of a reply than you would've bargained for, but figured the information may be helpful if you dive into the hobby. Most of this stuff I've learned the hard (and sometimes expensive) way myself, and I figure other people would just as soon not go through the same thing right off the bat.
Does RTC work in any of them?
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! I had no idea there was a whole community of Pokemon ROM hackers. The GBA games were my favorite generation and to think that there's all this new content to play is amazing. There's something so nostalgic about the GBA physical cartridges, and seeing these new ROM ones felt really cool.
Didn’t know there was so many damn rom hacks lol, I recently picked up a GBA SP and it came with two Pokémon rom hacks that I didn’t even see here, Blue Kaizo and cosmic emerald. I was going to sell em off but I might keep em now, the vid got me interested lol.
I got a few cartages from different ppl over the yrs but 2 questions.
Is that version of Liquid Crystal complete?
The one ends about halfway in Orange Islands and my version glitches when encountering Crystal Onix.
I know the game updated more but idk if there's a cartage with a more upnto date one
For Glazed aside from that forest glitch r u able to get further? I got like 3 copys of it and it typically seems to always mess up/soft lock events when u save and turn off. Only made it to about the 2nd gym.
It's a really cool and fun game but haven't found a cartage that works.
One of the more common earily blocks I get r the 2 grunts blocking the forest entrance coming back with no way to get them to move again
I really like this content, I’ll be subscribing
Pokemon Unbound is the greatest ROM hack that I have ever played. This one should be made into a cart by GameDuck.
Unbound is legitimately one of the best Pokemon games imo
Yeah, I haven't even finished it and I love it
@@pdawg1555How many Pokemon are in that game?
@@Sidthesloth77 no clue, you'd have to Google it
Almost all of them other than a few legendaries and mythicals
Gonna have to get these 😊 thanks for the heads up 😮
The only ones I'd personally try n get on a cart are Gaia, Crystal Dust, maybe Ash gray or somethin. Gaia and CD for sure! I may try with Crystal Dust once its finished- it'd be like a official game and I'll add it to my collection lol
Ash gray was awesome, I got half way through but still a great game.
Hey, the cartridge with that Ho-Oh printed on it looks very cool 😯
Just looking at the shape of OG Game Boy carts fills me with an undescribable nostalgia.
Also I played Orange Islands, it actually feels more like a Final Fantasy game with the party system and less like a Pokemon game.
Epic video. What a cool collection
That fire red actually has a crazy ass ending I love it
So, this comment is way after this video was made, but what did you think of Liquid Crystal overall? Also, are there any GBA roms with physical carts that include the physical/special split in them? I just upgraded my GBA, and I need some new games for it lol. I have all the mainline games for GBA, but would love to try out a couple Roms.
I just beat rocket red a few days ago, its amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Grew attached to Rattata 😆 now we know what happened to Blue’s Raticate. Rocket Grunt Sammie stole it!
😈
there's actually an in game story explanation for blue's raticate
I always wanted a Pokémon game set in the Orange Islands!!! That’s so cool someone made one!!
Thats some nice quality!
I was thinking of this idea replacing your old shells that have been damaged and turn it into updated shells and maybe save your cartridge from being stolen too since they will think it’s a fake copy lol
I recall playing the liquid crystal rom. It was harder then the original crystal last I recall. And shinies had a higher chance os spawning
Do you find that the cartridge version of rom hacks are just loaded with gamebreaking glitches? I've purchased a few on a whim and I've had horrible luck. I can't go very far into the games at all before I discover some bug that won't let me proceed.
I have a couple rom hack games I bought a while back. They can with cool custom boxes and everything. Haven’t finished them because I kinda fell out of Pokémon but now that I’m back I’ll probably boot them up again
They look so cool, but sadly no amount of searching on etsy has turned up these specific cartridges. Guess their shop got taken down...
Its still there, i just ordered gs chronicles from them.
@@BlueFlameWolf yeah I only found it by using a VPN. It's blocked for my location normally and they don't ship where I live sadly enough.
I have a physical copy of the Orange Islands rom. It's a favorite in my collection of games because it's so unique.
Does the clock on your cartridges work, can you still trigger time based events?
Orange islands was a great play. It also includes the 2nd movie.
5:57 You could say the same about the official Pokemon games nowadays, unfortunately
I’ve played them all and I was a bata tester for gs chronicles I tested it on my everdrive gba and psp go
Hey hi, where did u get those cartridges? I cant find them 😭
If u don't mind darker more sensitive games I recommend Outlaw, Cawps, and Kurusu(I think that's what it's called with a Gengar mascot)
Outlaw play as a criminal in Kanto
Cawps play as a cop in Hoenn
Kurusu I think your a victim in the sevi Islands?(only 1 of the 3 I havent played)
The 3 r made by the same guy personally I liked Cowps alot more.
Basically there alot of characters that die or get killed and kinda graphic(for gba pokemon sprite standards)
It's called Korosu I think.
I think its a cool concept to have fan games on a cartridges but its just not right. Sellers just put those roms on there from free community projects and make bank while all they have done is put it on the cartridges and print some labels. The least I would expect is that the seller would donate a fair percentage to the projects.
Finally someone says it, its not the rom hackers that put these on cartridges its some scammers trying to make a quick buck
The best way to play these hacks is on an emulator
for real, i’d rather donate to the actual creators than buying cartridges from these scammers
@@lexi2114 and that's on god
You’re basically paying to have a physical version of the rom and you’re not paying for the rom itself that would be illegal.
@@zenvultra4457 thats the whoel point we been saying it aint fair
I think you're going to enjoy pokémon fire Red rocket edition It is definitely one of my favorite hacks very good game
Pokemon Gaia was by far one of the best ROM hacks, not sure if it was ever finished past the elite 4 but still an amazing and challenging game
They are slowly working on a post game update. They have recently been posting new music on the creators CZcams channel. I can't wait for the final release. Easily in my top 5 rom hacks of all time
played the orange island but it wasn't completed was so fun I beat all these rom hacks hands down glaze snd liquid crystal best ones you have there
Its looking like pokemon glazed cart has softlock after softlock to the point to where it just isn't worth it. I ordered that and unbound after I watched this video a couple weeks ago and I knew of the risks. I got two badges this time and now im locked because the game crashes after I talk to Blake to get on the boat. The game is so long so will there just be a new issue each badge or what lol. I hope to have better luck with unbound.
What are the names of the gamboy color games you did earlier?
Do you know if u can transfer some of the pokemon from gen 3 to gen 4 ds games i know that some pokemon from gen 4 on a gen 3 cartridges wont work or fake pokemon but what about the otheres?
Where can I get that Pokémon Glazed from to buy. The last one I had wouldn’t even work right
Do the custom cartridges suffer the battery running dry issue?
Did he make the hacks or is he making the carts and boxes only?
Do the original creators of the hack get any of the profits made?
He just puts together the cartridges and boxes. I think it'd be pretty illegal for the creators of these rom hacks to sell these games. Or earn profit off of them. Mostly all these rom hacks are free to use. Some of these rom hacks inform thr player that they could have gotten the game for free (didn't need to pay for it to play it). Usually its in the intro if they include it. You're mostly buying the design of the cartridge, and the pcb. Because you can find these roms online.
I always see weird roms on cartridges when I scroll through eBay and always wondered if they even worked or if they didn’t just freeze and glitch a lot when youd try playing them.
Pokémon My Ass
yeah they are everywhere but just make sure you do your research and read reviews because not all of them are as high quality as the ones in this video
@@supersambams where’d you get yours I would love to get some with boxes and these look insanely good
@@inrxo gameDuck on Etsy
My fav pkmn rom hack is DBZ Team Training, it replaces pkmn with DBZ characters and it's awesome. Also a Fire Red hack.
I life in Germany and I see a very great shop 👍
I have just a Everdrive GB with many game's
The Graphics of Pokémon GS chronicles looks like Gba version of heart gold soul silver.
Yes. There is tho, a hgss GBA "version"- it's called Crystal Dust! A 1-1 remake of the og Pokemon Crystal with Kanto and trading capabilities with official games
i bought one called radical red and the audio for some of the encounter cries were bugged which was annoying
I got a SHINY BELDUM on the last tile of a forest area before exit, I was very startled and dropped my phone, having both no idea Beldum were in the area, or any inkling that I could possibly be receiving my fav shiny on GLAZED. Besides this it's a great game, love the Antagonist Pikachu, stick with it and restart. Pretty sure there's a rather questionable dialogue about some girls Umbreon licking her doughnuts I came across at some point, take that as you will 👅🍩 😭
If anyone can find that actual seller (appears to be gone from etsy) i wouldn't mind contacting them another way and seeing if they'll still make some of these games
Do these have the battery inside to take advantage of the day night cycle?
First of all great video!
Secondly it’s not Ra-tat-ah it’s Rat-ah-ta even dexter the Pokédex pronounces it Rat-ah-ta in the 2nd episode of the first season when a Rattata is going through his bag looking for food lol
I really want to play some of these ROM Hacks, Ash Gray specifically but I can't find a download that keeps my progress saved.
Pokémon Unbound on a cartridge should be really GOOOOOOD, imo is the best hack rom rn
Where you bought those games? I want to buy them too
My crystal dust has graphics glitch spirte only incide buildings even with new game again inside buildings its blurry becaouse of the messed up spires any solution?
I wanted to get some but it looks like their shop doesn't exist anymore
There are actually some ROM hacks that I would say are pretty “professionally” made. I’ve been getting into them recently since I’ve played most of the main series already. Honestly, games by devs like Skeli are amazing, take Pokémon unbound or radical red!
Unbound is so good

Were is the sellers link. I need working carts. I brought a cosmic emerald off etsy and it crashs on save.
Don't mind me if I just didn't get to this part in the video yet, but do these have save batteries which will run dry and delete your save file? I remember having a fake cart as a kid and that's what happened to me. Curious if they are still on that disappointing production level nowadays. If not for that I wouldn't even care about owning fake games.
Seconding this question I’ve been wondering if battery backed sram reproduction carts work with say Pokémon stadium 1-2
@Anthony Lara they don't work with Stadium, no. Tested this myself.
With the GBA carts, no. With the GB/GBC carts, they do use a battery to hold the save. Thankfully, with the way the board is, if the battery dies you can easily slide it out and out in a new one.
Where did you get these?
It’s not great, but I’ve got a physical snakewood that’s my only rom hack I ever bought. Learned to love all its flaws and decent writing over time.
Pokemon Prism is the king of ROM experiences on cartridge (at least in my opinion). It only has like 4 "fakemon", but they are legendaries that are specific to the Naljo region and they look incredible. The game is amazing and blows pretty much every other romhack out there out of the water. Your starter is a godd**mn Larvitar. Words cannot describe the awesomeness of the overall experience. Go play it.
Hey do you have the link to the sellers website ? I’m really interested in checking these games out
yeah I want to know too where to buy them
can you trade between these and your original firered / leafgreen editions?
So what was the seller's name again? I couldn't really hear it very clearly
Where did you get your ROM hacks?
Im playing through glazed cartridge and got to the part where you meet Blake and get on the boat and when he says the boat crashes the game went to a black screen. I tried to do it a couple more times and gave up but I left the game on and I came back to the room an hour later it was loaded where it was suppose to be. So that glitch or crash looked bad but it eventually loaded
The cartridge looks ❤ good
What is the orange charizard cartridge?
I like these old Pokémon version games
Where can i buy??
How would one go about making these? Resin printing?
Pokemon Light Platinum. Damn I threw in 300h on that one.
Those are so cool
I dont know if these guys have the right to sell others rom hacks on their own cartridges...
They do not.
Where did you buy these cartridges?
The only thing I don't like about these is that the actual creators of the rom hacks don't get any of the money.
They didn’t make these to get money, you can’t buy the rom anyways
People just profiting off that by selling these
@@AlexT-md9dfThat's still stupid logic. That's like someone selling hard copies of Infinite Craft and claiming that it's perfectly legal and okay to do so because the original creator didn't make it for profit.
Who did you buy these from and where?
Which of these is most difficult and which is the longest game?
Did anyone ever make a real ROM hack of Pokémon Black version from the creepy pastas? If so, does anyone know if they made a cartridge version or even a ROM?
A guy was working on it way back when, but I don't know how far he got.
Damn, you were so happy when talking about stealing Pokémon to little girls and old people 😂
But can you trade to any of the original gba games?
I really want Pokémon emerald kaizo on a cartridge but idk if it’s possible
Any of these games completely finished?
Id love to see pokemon crystal clear on a cartridge
is possible to transfer this rom hack pokemons to gen 4? (sorry about my english :^) )
These look awesome! Are these able to connect with legit games by any chance?
Tbh I'm scared to try rom pokémon games on my ds because 1. It might Crash my system or 2 have screen tear but those are my opinion and i bought my first gb rom called Pokémon Pink Version and idk if it will crash
my fav bootleg cartridge is a cartridge of snakewood (its a guilty pleasure of mine, even if i cant get passed the first fucking town)
hey so uh, I think that rocket edition states some theory about ditto that the guy who designed mew said was false as a true statement.
i think the point of that game is that it's full of fanmade theories
@@carvelcake yeah but their theory is still wrong.
@@brawlfan most of them are. it's just for fun
@Pi yeah, pretty much. I think of Rocket Edition ad an alternate timeline.
