- Painting en plein air at sunset on Godrevy beach, Cornwall. I had to paint quickly, chasing the light as the sun went down.
Painting outdoors is great fun, especially when you have the beach to yourselves! The tide had just gone out so we could access the beach by climbing across the wet rocks. Not an easy task when carrying a heavy French easel and all the other equipment required.
I did as much as possible en plein air before leaving the painting to dry and completing it in the studio.

Thanks - we were ok as we know the route back very well from there. I think it's time for me to do more morning plein air work now as the evenings are drawing in so fast!

Merci beaucoup. Le chien il s'appelle Basil. Le medium pour cette tableau est approx 70% turps et 30% huile 👌
Very nice work Andrew. Especially considering the limited time you had on location. And nice touch-up work in the studio as well.
I noticed you squeezed out a lot of paint as you started... are you able to save the bits you didn't use..?
I'm always scared to put out too much of that precious paint. I need to overcome that I suppose.

Not having enough paint on the palette was always something that held me back. I do try to use up what’s left, even if it’s just to cover old paintings 😃
