Prizmatic sunset is spot on!! No Muddy colors from habitually painting with compliments! Wow, the way Mr. Bretzke pulled it all together and adding those touches of color made the landscape luminate. So very inspiring Thx 💥

Absolutely blown away by this I’m a watercolorist but have purchased oils etc months ago to try oils . I’ve been procrastinating ever since but after seeing this I’m going to try and follow it today that’s how strongly i feel about this demonstration. As an artist for over 50 years I find the best way to communicate value and color in the paintings of reflections is the phrase "less than." Dark values will reflect less dark, light values will reflect less light, colors will reflect less colorful.

Here is another physics of light tip : Sunsets are easier in winter time, the sun hovers longer before going down. In summer, the sun very quickly dips below the horizon, it is to do with the way the earth orbits the sun in a more longer elliptical path in the winter when the colder hemisphere is further away It is no coincidence that the masters of the last century usually painted their sunsets in the colder seasons where the sun takes longer to set, giving them more time to paint the sunset before them.

It could only have been better if you did it on a plate with egg yoke and jelly leftovers. One of the best breakfasts of the year and I look forward to seeing you again in the field and painting!

Radiologist usually stay in the dark, but Carl put some light on this important subject sunsets!
