One of the BIGGEST PROBLEMS I had with Iceland besides the expensive costs was the name of places and things were too long and hard to read/say. I can go to China and at least when communicating with out group it's easy to understand and pronounce "Beijing', "Kumming", etc. But Iceland?? "Kleppjárnsreykir", Bláskógabyggð, Kirkjubæjarklaustur, etc .

I went to Iceland about 3-4 years ago and it was the most expensive place I've ever been. The cheapest hotels / airbnn were about $100-$120 and wouldn't be near a prime area. Most restaurant dishes were $15 MIN!! At what is a 'cheap' semi-fast hamburger place inside a gas station and it was about $17 for a burger and fries. that quality in the US goes for $5-$8. The food stuck so badly and was so expensive that in 7 days there, only 5 times did we eat at a restaurant. We decided to go to the grocery store for food and settled on rotisserie chicken or buy stuff to cook in our AIRBNB. We also ate a lot of peanut butter sandwiches for snacks or a small meal.

If you want to eat it nice touristy restaurants then of course its going to be expensive but there are loads of shops selling cheap sandwiches, the lebowski bar will sell you a burger for about £10. Sure beer is expensive but its not too bad if you go off the main street and find a happy hour. Its very easy to spend a lot of money in iceland but its also not that hard not to if you try a bit.

it's fascinating to me, how friendly the couple are...
I always believe that human basically friendly, but then something bad happen and that what makes them caution.
I put myself as an example...
I came from relative small city to capital, at first I don't understand why everyone so individual and some of them refused to answer if I asked direction, also some of my relatives in the capital told me to guard my belonging closely. Because back in my home town, let's say I went to McDonald's alone, then I wanted ketchup, I just leave my belonging at the table to took ketchup...
I then I got thief a few times (my wrong for not careful) then I began to suspicious with people that I don't know, let's say someone asking something then I began to suspicious whether this person had team that would took my belonging while I had conversations with this person..
So with this very friendly couple, because of low criminals I think they felt comfortable and safe around tourists or new People and God forbid something bad happen to them that could change their friendliness...

I hope one day I will be in Iceland. I am from Israel, a country which is slightly more expensive than Iceland. But here it's different, because it is a very sadistic country with military forced labour camps and extortive monopolies, so most people in Israel live in extreme poverty and extreme frugality and not nearly as well as people in other developed countries. I hope to get out of poverty one day. It will take many years to get out of poverty and to free myself from the systems of aggressive exploitation and aggressive extortion here. I also suffer from the heat and the humidity here, which is pretty extreme. In the future I would definitely move to a cold country, the coldest possible, if I will have the option.
