- Now we know that Spiral in Marvel vs Capcom 2 isn't the best character to use, but you guys know me! I love me some low tiers. I had to play her against people just to see what I can do with Spiral. What do you guys think of it?

Since Children of the Atom came out; Spiral's crouch fierce (where she makes her arms into a fist) has been my favorite basic attack animation in any fighting game. Whoever thought of that is a genius.

Spiral is a rare character compared with others. Need a lot of trainning and sometimes feels like she is outmatched easy and sometimes feels like she can outmatch even top tier easly, i think all depends about skill player.
Here we an see how good was Cap as assistant for Spiral, but don't see her at full level, i mean Justin can't take the best of her. Maybe cuz he don't use much Spiral and need more time and practice with her on battlefield.
Anyway i love Justin content and i hope he keep doing this for a long long time.

There was a time when I tried to learn Spiral, until I realized how hard she was to use. In a strange way, seeing Justin also have issues with using her makes me feel less bad about that 🙂
Back when I used to actually play the game consistently I ran a team of Spiral/Dhalsim/Blackheart.
Always felt the team had a hell of a lot of potential, but I was nowhere near good enough to make the most of it.
Would love to see what someone like Justin or Duc (seeing as how he is already familiar with Spiral, and that seems to be half the battle) could do with the team.

Spiral is a lot like Morrigan in UMVC3. They need assists to compliment their game. Without them they're just good/really good, but not great.

I played toddler mvc2 in 2000, but memory card issues meant I never unlocked all the characters. I do watch an occasional bit of mvc2 besides Mr. Wong.

Hey, J...Not to be critical (because you are a much much better player than I am), but I have been playing Spiral and CA together since the game hit arcades. You need to use her knife trap>assist>teleport more. It gets around Sentinel and baits the player. Spam with teleports.

For a low teir character she has a great assist for ground pressure and anti air.

Spiral (ground) + Silver Samurai (Projectile) = some 25-30% chip damage on team super.
0:40 Why do you think that is? I've often wondered why there is only one real spiral main in this entire game. Spiral is a God tier character, yet only one guy actually plays her. So strange.
Mainly because she is just really difficult to play well from an execution standpoint, as evidenced by Justin's performance with her here (and we all know Justin is a natural with like 90% of the cast). That should tell you something. She is a very difficult character to just sort of jump into, even for experienced players.
She is also much more dependant on certain team compositions than all of the other god tiers to make the most out of the tools she has.

Spiral is and very helpful character as she can do many dancing sword as she can, and she have a good range Heavy punch.

This is why i feel that spiral shouldn't be tier 5. She can feel that way when she has the right assist but outside of that she is completely outmatched by the rest of the tier 5. She is more a tier 4 arguably even tier 3.
Spiral's a tough one to rank. In the right teams (and with the right players), she's very safe, generates meter for free, is great at being lame, and can do decent (though mostly unremarkable) damage. Without that support, she drops off significantly, and she's straight-up hard to play.
To be fair, he's playing 7 point team against a 13 point team.
@@jasperjones8401 You say that as if Justin doesn't dominate in almost all of these "let's try character X on a ratio team!" videos 🙃 Spiral is one of the harder characters to play well, and she's relatively dependent on a team that works well with her.
@@jasperjones8401 Your only proving the point that Spiral shouldn't be a tier 5. I don't use her but I've played against her a lot and all the tier 5 characters can be start, mid and anchor. Spiral is the only one that can really only play start and depending on which assist she has mid. The main reason is she needs time to setup and the assist like doom allow her to do that but outside of that she isn't good enough to constitute being a tier 5. Justin has destroyed 13 point teams using the same tier system. Have you seen his amingo videos? He be cooking people. This video just shows how Spiral shouldn't be a tier 5
@@wilsonaguiar4646 I think a case could be made for moving her down a tier, but its really kind of a difficult position to be in.
When she has the proper tools at her disposal she is very very good, and definitely could be considered top tier.
That said, compared to the other top tier characters, she is much less flexible in terms of what she can make work. Someone like Storm or Sent can be paired with just about any team and do well simply by virtue of their solo performance.
So I could see an argument for bumping her down a tier, because she definitely CAN be top tier, but requires certain builds to really do so. Whereas the other god tier characters can generally shine no matter who they are paired with.
Also, she is a difficult character to play in general, which doesn't help.

I wonder if Spiral just is not really viable in the ratio format. The team Justin played with Spira, Capt & Amigo, cannot really leverage off the meter Spiral's swords generate. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this video :).
To be fair, he's playing a ratio team against and actual competitive team, I think we need to see more of what she can do against a balanced team

To be fair, the video is a bit misleading.
Spiral has a LOT of good things going for her, but she is the very definition of a build around character. She is also probably one of the most difficult characters in the roster to play at a high level in terms of execution.
Which is why most of the big names in the game consistently agree that she is top tier. Even though the only one you really ever see playing her (much less to her full potential) is Duc.
She's good, but requires a lot more effort to be good than any of the other characters that are generally considered God tier.
Spiral was a great character in the Children of the Atom series, but not a good character in the MvC games. Honestly a few little tweaks and Spiral would be competitive.
