For example in Okinawa, Japan, the locals eat a diet that’s greater than 95% plant based (all meats are less than 1%) and experienced famine where they survived thanks to the sweet potato. People are plant based because they’re in poverty. I’m a sick-unemployed vegan from a working class poor family and I wouldn’t say my diet is a privilege other than the fact I get to choose it. Which all animal eaters do, unless they’re children forced to eat animals.
Can you share what you think makes it objectively a privilege to be vegan and eat plant based over other lifestyles and diets?

@@SerenEnfys I am not really sure if people in Japan have this high plant consumption they eat tons of seafood, but your argument is true, I am from India and the cheapest food there is vegan food, even the staple traditional food in India is vegan, Indian food culture is heavily vegan based, everyone from poor to rich eat a tons of traditional vegan food, and meat is more expensive. So I would say being vegan is not a privilege, the most cheapest food on earth is vegan ie rice.

I will agree, vegan meats can be expensive but in my 4 years vegan, that’s only for luxury vegan meets. And even they are roughly similar to if not a little more expensive than corpse. Animals are mass murdered which brings the cost down and their bodies are used for multiple things. Sometimes their flesh sold as meat is a byproduct of a different, original purpose. I love savoury and umami, so I love vegan meats and I eat often. I get from a food bank and buy great, cheap frozen and fresh from the supermarket. Often their on deals too 😀 Again, I’m poor and unemployed due to sickness, I’d like to know how my veganism is privileged 😆 (I know you’re not @areyouveganyet so that’s not really a question for you) :)

I didn’t know about neuralink’s animal testing. Thank you for making this video. It’s very hard to hear about the suffering those poor creatures went through and are still going through! It’s crazy how so many people are okay with it, including the doctors, scientists, staff, etc. The lack of basic compassion among us is astounding.

Trying to discuss Ireland's methane generated by grazing animals is a nightmare. Ireland's big farming lobby groups either claim they're providing carbon capture or that they want to see the "full science". They demonise foods that are imported and say there's nothing more environmentally friendly than eating local beef or dairy while at the same time trying to find markets for livestock products in Singapore and South Korea.

As a old fan(sadly) it hurts me, i always knew he was an asshole but i thought he was at least an smart asshole.
Tesla helped the E-Car Market(even if he wasnt one of the original owners) and SpaceX was and is still one of my favorite space companies, the raptor engine on the starship is a technological marvel, its sad to see how he has fallen down the rightwing funnel, i think a mayor part of it is that leftwing politics mostly criticize every step you do(which is great but if you see everything as a personal attack its bad), rightwing politics are reinforcing you as long as you make money and generally have rightwing views nomatter how much BS you say, so you have two audiences one that constanly criticize you even if you generally agree with them and one that praises you for the most BS Ideas you have.

My friend who very much likes me. We met up the other day and he out if no where brought up the vegan thing. He was spitting random stuff and was really getting angry. I kept calm and just wanted run away with how upset he got just because i didnt agree.
I hated it. I tried changing the subject but he kept bringing it back. He said vegans are missing nutrients, that it makes no difference to the climate, that vegans are just doing it for virtue signaling, nothing to do with animals. He likened it to a religion, crop deaths and other stuff.

When it comes to Tesla Elon joined shortly after founding and when they were barely a company, and was the main financial backer, he was going to make an electric car company with jb straubel based on the same open patent technology Tesla was based on from the Tzero electric car. Without Elon and Strauble, Tesla would not exist today.

From the US, but live in Northern Ireland. I'm from the a forested part the US, and I must say the lack of forests / trees here is downright bizarre. Lots of green (grass for grazing), but hardly any trees. Some patches here and there. (And if you do find a patch, don't be surprised if the trees are planted very regularly as it's not a natural forest but tree plantation for harvesting.) It's sad but most people in the UK/Ireland are used to this, to them this is normal and natural. They insist they just don't have the space compared to the US, but frankly if it's a choice between trees or cows/sheep, I'm going with the trees.

For Germany, at the least I was impressed by seeing some buildings in Munich with lots of plants in them / on them? Little things like that make modern cities (or modern parts of a cool old European city) so much less dreary.
Most people care nothing about nature. I believe it should be a requirement of have a nature class every year in school. eg once a month, the students are outside all day in the woods. And, to graduate from high school, must be able to identify all local plants and birds (by sight as well as song).
Most people don't care about nature because they're never in it. Granted, my opinion of humanity is so low at this point I'm not sure how much such a class would actually change hearts and minds. At the least it'd be a bit of nature therapy every month for stressed out students. And hey-o, in the US, less stressed out / happier students might lead to fewer school shootings, you never know.

Yes. It’s a sad fact that, much like a large portion of the United States, the British Isles cut down & destroyed vast portions of their natural forests long ago. Most of the original “Sherwood Forest” of England is long gone. Was it all cut down & destroyed for the sake of livestock grazing & feed? Even though Musk is known for Tesla, he didn't co-found it. Due to some lawsuit, however, he's able to call himself co-founder.

@@artlover2866 Tesla was founded in 2003. In 2004, Musk made a big investment and became a board member and the majority shareholder. So obviously, he didn't found Tesla. I don't know much about it, but the founder that got pushed out of the company sued over who can call themselves co-founder. In 2009, they settled the lawsuit and now there are 5 "co-founders" of Tesla, Musk being among them. There is a CNET article about it called "now there are five". Just do a google search.

I'm against animal testing and experimentation. And I know how musk runs his companies. He pushes for faster pace, short deadlines, simplifying processes to the point that they break and you have to add 10% back on for it to work. So its unfortunately not surprising that an already awful practice on animals is being made worse by the Musk type of ambition that drives the success of his companies.

When Jordan Peterson talks about psychology, I find it interesting and pay attention. If Elon Musk is talking about engineering, I'm. all ears. Either one of them giving diet advice, I ... well, noting, I don't listen to either of them on that subject.

@@keithoneill6273 to be more specific he is a venture capitalist. He has a BA in Physics from UPenn and a BS in Economics from Wharton No degree in engineering.
On the other hand I tend to facepalm when elon talks about engineering (hyperloop for example or tesla taxis earning you money or underground rgb tunnels).
@@keithoneill6273 Musk is the pinnacle example of capitalism run amok. He's like a comic book super rich super villain with more money than functioning intellect. Perhaps it is the gallons of neuro-toxins he drinks in that diet coke destroying his moral reasoning and scientific cognition...? Musk can afford to hire the world's best engineers but that doesn't make him an engineer.
