TODAY'S VIDEO:
The actor Martin Freeman was recently on a podcast where he declared that he had gone back to eating land animals because he is concerned about meat free alternatives being "very very processed". However, in a staggering display of hypocrisy and contradiction, he also spoke about his love for scotch eggs and pork pies! So in today's video, I take a look at the podcast episode and breakdown what Martin has to say, as well as discussing the media reaction to his announcement.

“Plants could feel MORE than animals” - Hunter debates vegan.
Turds eat animals. The sexiest men save animals.
This is the reason why actors should only be asked about acting.
I think Martin Freeman said 'it's a free country' was because it was it was in relation to him using the word 'allowed' when referring to the scotch egg (as he was a vegetarian but still contained meat). I think it was a statement allowing himself to eat a Scotch egg but still call himself a vegetarian
Going back to eating animals... he should go back to Mordor while he's at it
That's the thing, this very much speaks to the average person. For most people the law is a decent outline for what society deams moral. Though outside of that people still have the ability to choose where there moral line starts as he said. Humans are all very different, I would imagine your problem with this is, given that choice it won't lead to laws banning animal consumption. I think people should be exposed to the practices of the meat and dairy industry and be allowed to make an informed decision. Though the problem is, even presented with this info they may still choose to be omnivores. Most people aren't virtuous by nature, we seek to just live a happy life, however that looks, even if it's at a cost to others.
Good point about the meat and dairy industry hiding what they are doing from the public. In the country I'm from, they lobbied the politicians to create "ag gag" laws which make it illegal to film inside farms and slaughterhouses then show it to the public.
I don’t want to hate these kinds of people but yet I’m filled with rage for them. Very difficult since I tend to agree with Robert Sapolsky in that it doesn’t make sense to blame or hate.. I suppose I’m a work in progress. I really do hate the cognitive dissonance in my fellow brothers and sisters.
Spot on, as always
Some people regress with age don’t they.
We're taught from a young age to conform. We're steered away from thinking critically, creatively, and for ourselves.
8:00 "Rennet"🤮
eating meat makes you dumber. that is why they don't even realize their hypocrisy.
Carnist are braindead. 🤯
The real title should have been “Man admits he never had any morals or ethics, and confirms it to be true by continuing to pay for needless animal abuse.”
Anyone who doesn't do it for the animals can easily go back on it, period. And that's the only explanation to be had
"There's some good left in this world Mr Martin, and it's worth fightin' for"
isn't he the racist actor ?
I've been vegan for something like 9 years and it's so easy and delicious. There have been a handful of times I buy something that had eggs or milk in it without knowing and as soon as I tasted it I was grossed out by the taste and on further investigation realized the mistake and understood why it tasted gross. The fact that so many people are addicted to consuming suffering and fear and do all of the extravagant mental gymnastics to justify it astonishes me. I've had people say, "I love animals! I could never hurt an animal." then when I ask if they are vegan they say no. I'm like *face palm*.... It's so mind blowing how rare it is for people to have self reflection or logical consistency. Clown world.
SMH 🤦♀️ THESE PEOPLE ARE CLULESS AND CRUEL! Its food of the suffering and tortured.
Why should I be vegan?
If you're against animal cruelty. Killing animals and breeding genetically modified, deformed chickens is inhumane.
Another brilliant video Ed.
Martin comes across as a male who can't seem to commit to anything.. He lacks courage and conviction in his heart to do the right thing. He's basically using the argument of his taste buds not being satisfied.. He is the epitome of a weak-minded individual who is only concerned about their fleshly desires. Eating plant-based food would be a win-win for the animals the environment and our own health.
Vegetarians have no real principles, so not surprising
I love Martin Freeman’s work. This is hugely disappointing.
Typical clowns
It's pretty obvious the entire conversation was scripted, and sponsored by big meat / dairy. Everything in this video, from talking points to wine glasses, was extensively choreographed by those paying $$$$ for this false image of normality. Makes me sick!
Agree, they are payed, the meat and dairy industry are more and more desperate. That's a good sign actually. They are afraid of vegans, and they should be!
My brother in law is vegetarian and He is sooo hard to talk to about veganisum! It's like he thinks ...he does his bit and that's enough 😮...he just will not engage at all in fact its much easier to talk to some of my meat eating relatives about it
These people broke my brain.
Yeah, the "there are too many (unknown) ingredients in pseudo animal products" argument never stuck with me, like come on, most of the animal products don't even list what's in them in terms of hormones and stuff, you don't know what you're getting either, just that somone suffered for it.
Wow!!! Neil is good, Now I can never ever be a vegan. Ed let's give you 15 years if your conviction is still this strong then we will talk.
The psychology behind this is astonishing, like you said. I noticed it a lot while watching many reaction videos of Made in Abyss, an anime which has very dark themes. One big arc in the story is eerily similar to the horrors of the agriculture industry. The way people describe the horror of that arc, but don't make the connection to the real life horrific story of our cows, chickens, pigs, fish and so on. It is astonishing. 💔
His argument that meat alternatives are too processed is ridiculous. They may be, but you don't have to eat them. I don't (instead I eat legumes and nuts and mushrooms and whole grains and lots of veggies). And he said he was vegetarian since 1986? So what was he eating in the decades before the too-processed meat alternatives were invented???
Ed, I would like to tell you that you have inspired me with your calm and understanding personality. But I also notice a change. You seem frustrated and impatient. Which i can understand, it must be hard to immerse yourself daily into the injustice and the ignorance. However I believe that your understanding and loving way are your biggest strenght and I hope this is what you will promote again in future.
Vegetarian spag bol is horrid, tasteless. Win for meat. Beef as a carcinogen, the research on red meat being carcinogenic is now being found to be faulty due to the fact that it could not be established whether the meat was from good quality sources (grass fed beef etc), there is evidence that it was hamburgers? Possibly coupled with test subjects making bad choices, a bad diet and sedentary life style. So that casts reasonable doubt on that argument! The argument that he is eating processes food, still doesn't take away the fact all meat substitutes are heavily processed. As humans we developed to be omnivorous, we can't get all we need from just one source we need vegetation and meat. Let's try an experiment: How many animals can you name that have a different diet from the rest of their species, like sheep that eat meat or tigers that eat grass? Many people who have stopped being vegan have experienced interesting effects, such as: within a month feel better, feel stronger and their mental health has improved, is this coincidental? granted this is anecdotal accounts I have heard, but suprising amount have said it. I would suggest that the best way forward is to improve animal rearing standards which I think is shocking and needs to be addressed, let's campaign against this.
The Hobbit was shite

What does Ja Rule think though
I dont care what your studies say, when I was a vegan I was in the worst health of my life mentally and physically. Was spiralling slowly. I got better once I started eating meat, organs, eggs and milk. So go fk ur "science", I live in reality. And reality tells me if I want to live I have to eat what works.
And there goes another.... Great video. ❤
I really hope Martin Freeman and guests see this video.
Getting bent out of shape at the hypocrisy of eating meat but loving certain animals is all too ubiquitous for Vegans but connecting others to this is hard to do. How do we as activists make this happen? There must be some novel ways to do this in a shorter period of time. Solutions over commiseration.
