Indeed, Mr. Edward “Winters” Gaunt’s understanding of metaethics is beyond reproach, which explains why he condones the MURDER of poor, innocent humans before they have the opportunity to even see the light of day. 👶
The fact that he repeatedly asserts that “humans are animals”, shows what an abject hypocrite is that MURDEROUS sinner. 😩
Furthermore, it is debatable whether Ed is truly vegan in his outlook, since he recently stated on the national television programme, GBNews, that he believes we ought NOT ban animal agriculture!
“I’m not even saying that we should ban meat, dairy and eggs right now”.
Mr. Ed Gaunt,
So-called “VEGAN” activist. 😐

Go to the 8:15 mark.
We as vegans get criticism for being anorexic and eating carrot sticks so we make really good vegan meat alternatives and get criticism for being fatty and unhealthy... can't win 😅
Also I've noticed if we eat more natural diets we get accused of the appeal to naturalism but if we add vitamin and protein supplements then that very fallacy is used against us 😅
It's almost like nonvegans are reaching for excuses 😂
Eat a balanced diet and cop on
Veganism is proven to be as healthy (if not more) as any other diet can be if done properly.
All the other arguments just reminds me of kids who don't wanna eat their vegetables.
How is this a point for veganism? Those that eat only plant foods are generally underweight / weaker etc. and these fake meats are unhealthy. It's just reality.
Fortunately, no one has to choose between meat and fake meat. We can do whole foods.
I agree, and that is the healthiest way to eat. I think fake meats were developed just because humans are such creatures of habit. They prefer the tastes and textures of foods that they are already familiar with. So people who were raised in families where the diet was heavy in meat and animal products feel safer making the transition to a vegan diet when they can still have foods that are somewhat familiar to them.
@@nancyhey1012 Exactly this! When I switched over to veganism I would grill a beyond burger every weekend because back before I become vegan that was tradition for me. Now I eat mostly whole foods, but I still like the occasional impossible nug or beyond burger, even some plant based sausages. Familiarity is a big one.
only whole foods are vegan.
Define whole foods. I don't think seed oils qualify. Processed foods are not whole foods. As noble as vegan sounds it has gone as far down the processed food rat hole as McDonald's. I believe in whole foods. Exactly what in the vegan diet existed in its current state 200 years ago? I'm not vegan for health reasons. If I valued philosophy more than health I'd be vegan.
@@kittyhooch1 philosophy is the medicine of the spirit, that should be our main concern. But luckily we don't have to choose here either, because the vegan way of eating seems to be the best for general health. Just avoid the processed stuff.
It's my fault for eating beans instead of plant based alternatives.
What, the increase in greenhouse gases? :P
Beans, and nuts, and seeds, and whole grain bread, and tofu, and tempeh, and seitan...
That is what I first thought, that this was just people switching to whole plant food.
No wonder vegans have so much gas. All yall eat is beans and grass
I spent a decade following a strict vegan diet, with all the necessary recommended supplements in addition. Never felt worse in my life - daily depressive symptoms, growing brain fog to the extent I thought I was losing IQ, libido dissolved almost completely, extremely hard to gain muscle despite working out 3-5 times a week for the entire decade. After starting to eat red meat, eggs & fish I gained 30% in strength in two weeks while doing the exact same workout routine I had for the last decade, my libido went through the roof, depressive symptoms & brain fog disappeared completely.
Tyson is closing its 9th facility in a year. 🎉
@carmadefries3729 This reflects a shift in sales from beef and pork to chicken. Their plant based meat sales are also falling.
@@Woodworm20-iy7cq yep, and I’m here for it.
The dairy industry is even more precarious. The 2 largest dairy companies, Borden and Dean foods declared bankruptcy largely due to changing consumer demand to plant based milk. Governments like the US are propping up the dairy industry not only with the huge subsidies of the meat industry, but they have bought a huge amount of cheese that they keep in reserve. Do you remember the Reagan government cheese give away?
@someguy2135 Borden and Dean were both small fry compared to the big 5 and have been swallowed up by the rest. The biggest selling drink in the US is now bottled water and both companies site changes in the structure of the industry as reason for failure, not a dietary change. Don't forget, the plant based milk industry is owned by the dairy companies.....it's a win win for them.
@@Woodworm20-iy7cq This article from the Washington Post disagrees with you. "Dean Foods, the nation’s largest milk producer, filed for bankruptcy protection in November. I don’t think people are eating less vegan. I think vegans don’t put processed crap into their bodies as much! And that’s is great! 👏👏
Unfortunately the data doesn’t support this.
Vegans made up a small percentage of sales, since we are a tiny percentage of the population. The sudden increase in inflation made the higher price intolerable for meat eaters who wanted to reduce their environmental impact with meatless Mondays, etc.
NGL I eat a fair bit of processed "crap" but always try to make sure I eat the ones high in protein and fibre & low in saturated fats. My main reason for veganism is for the animals anyway so don't really care too much about what I'm eating as long as I enjoy it and it hasn't harmed anything else.
@MrRollingEgo oh really, what does the "data" say, wise one?
Mhmm, I stay away from all the processed crap as much as possible.
I think there’s a dip in these products because more people are trying to be healthy whole food vegans leaning more into lentils chickpeas and beans. Just like with any diet you can be unhealthy and processed foods are not the healthiest.
Precisely. 👍👍👍👍👍
IMO it's because of inflation. The vegan mock meats are EXPENSIVE.
Exactly, I'm seeing this logic show up in other comments and I think it's spot on!
Yep this is pretty much what was said in the video.
I’m looking forward to the world where we can shift all food subsidies towards plant crops and innovations. We could build such an amazing food system for EVERYONE without corporate lobbyists pushing against it.
I mainly eat tofu so it wouldn’t surprise me, but my partner eats lots of veggie meat, i just dont find it as good anymore, its yummier with fresh food
Ed you're a legend. Thank you for everything that you do.

Thanks for being the tip of the spear for Homo sapiens rise in consciousness! I appreciate all your hard work!
I’m 67 been vegan for 12 years and have absolutely no intention of going back to flesh eating , my only regret is I didn’t go vegan much sooner and I’m quite sure the vegan bubble has not burst but I’m positive some farmers wish it had .
No way you went that many years without animal product consumption. The problem with the internet is that it's easy to lie on here.
@@III............ not only have I been vegan for 12 years but I was vegetarian for 21 years before going vegan this is no lie .
One of my favourite vegan chefs is Nisha, Rainbow Plant Life. Lots of simple recipes all from scratch.
It’s amazing having so many choices if people decide to not be a whole food based vegan. Anyone can now be vegan such as those who don’t want to change their eating habits, but just have a brand that doesn’t use animal products for the same exact food. I’m also astonished at the rate restaurants and fast food have come forward with great food options for vegans, making it easier for those who love to socialize with family and friends at these establishments. With the rate veganism is growing in the millions, I see veganism hitting that billion mark definitely within another decade.
If the world pop. Hits ten billion by 2050, I hope a minimum of 10% vegan makes that true!
It must suck for you that people value their health more than veganism.
@@III............good luck finding any scientific data to backup that nonsense! Lower mock meat sales does not say anything about the number of vegans in existence (as Ed very clearly pointed out and backed up with evidence), although if you can prove us wrong please go for it. What a shame you feel compelled to defend abhorrent industries and the cultures that demand they exist rather than learning some compassion and finding ways to not harm sentient beings….
❤❤❤ I agree. In the beginning of my transition I relied heavily on meat alternatives because I just didn't know how to 'eat'. Now that I am more progressed, I eat more whole foods in their original form and a lot raw. I rarely eat the alternatives because my taste buds have shifted and I also find them full of unwanted fat and way to salty. Veganism is our future and the resistance is running scared.
A lot of vegans head that way. We started off with the fake meats then started to transition to WFPB more but ultimately we are lazy when it comes to food so have actually slipped back more to these products. We both know that they are nowhere near as healthy as WFPB but health was not the reason I got into being vegan. If you have health issues and concerns then definitely go WFPB but if you want to be vegan for the animals do whatever is easiest to remain so.
You overdosed on copium with that last line
Not sure why I got an ad for beef sticks before watching this video. I am literally the opposite of their target audience
Theyre trying to win over/distract fence-sitters before they can make up their minds. It's a strategy many anti-social justice peeps employ. It's why you often get anti-trans ads on pso-trans content for example
I guess because the title of the video sounds like anti-vegan clickbait
There are non-vegans who will end up watching Ed's video for one reason or another. The ad was likely placed on this video to target these people. In case they start thinking about going vegan, the meat industry wants to tempt them back. It's an extremely dirty tactic, but that's what they do.
Pretty sure it’s on purpose, though.
I also get ads like that on videos like this fairly often. They tend to be for dairy in my case though.

Personally, I simply can no longer afford many of the vegan products I used to buy before. I'm a conscious buyer with a sharp eye on prices, and I saw some "interesting" increases over the past 6 months (sometimes literally overnight, like a shampoo that on a Friday was £2 and the very next Saturday was 2.60). Spring onions went from 37p to 59, frozen veggies from £1.79 to 2.89, agave syrup was £2 now is 2.80, and the average price range of vegan meat/cheese before was £2-2.80 now is £2.80-4. I used to treat myself to some of these vegan alternatives every now and then, but now I just live on canned legumes, pasta, and fresh fruit and veggies, which is healthier anyway. I buy soy chunks and tofu for protein and it's still budget-friendly. Whilst wages remain the same, all prices for essentials have increased dramatically, and I don't quite understand how this is not taken into consideration when it comes to a lower availability of vegan products. It's just obvious that if I have to spend x amount of money for my weekly shopping, I'm not gonna choose to blow it on Beyond Meat (£4 each) or vegan brie (£6).
Same here. Still vegan, just not buying the pricey stuff. So many of them are made from TVP too, yet cost more than $50/kg
Vegan products are often priced higher than ordinary foods but if you shop around, you can find them at lower cost such as vegan cheese. A company called Violife make a good 'Epic Mature' vegan cheese which is £2.75 for 200gms in Sainsburys, Tesco and Morrisons. If you go to Lidl, they often have specific good value vegan products at lower cost than in other supermarkets.

Awesome video, Ed. Kind of almost made me cry. As an ethical vegan of almost 18 years, who has dedicated her life to building a brand for over 13 of those years, based on compassion and spreading awareness to advocate for those most vulnerable, it’s been rough to see all the disingenuous brands making bank off of consumers’ lack of critical thinking (among many other factors) and yes, often putting out inferior products. I’m meticulous with what we put out- I don’t want anyone eating a single bite of our chocolate to say it isn’t good because it’s vegan.
Buy your rice and beans wherever you need- but let’s support good vegan brands and great vegan products.
And not listen to these absolute idiots putting kids through irrational spelling bees 🙄❤️
My family is low income at this point in time, so things such as plant based meats are more of treats and i only get them if their price is reduced to something more reasonable. I have no problems eating tofu, beans and lentils everyday though.
On a side note, i do feel like there just aren't very many plant based or vegan people in my small town because I've noticed that the dry beans, lentils and peas section has gotten smaller as of recently. I could be wrong, but everytime i go to the store and look in other people's carts, pretty much everyone has something that has animal products in them except me.
why buy plant based meats when they are so easy to make ? even plant based eggs and cheeses. I only buy whole foods and in the summer I don't buy them , I grow them myself.
Well, I'm actually pretty limited with what options i have tbh. I can't find a store in my town that sells mung beans to make egg replacement, can't find black salt for the eggy taste either, also they're just too expensive for me on Amazon. Closest i get is scrambling tofu and adding nutritional yeast. As for the plant based meat, i actually want to learn how to make seitan. I haven't been able to yet because I've been waiting till i actually have a job so I'd be able to pay for vital wheat gluten. I'd love to be able to bring a nice homemade plant based roast to holiday gatherings. Cheeses, cashews are too expensive for me at the moment. There are some potato cheeses I've wanting to try out but at the moment I'm perfectly content with nutritional yeast.
Thank you for representing for us working class folks. Everyone seems to think vegans are rich, but many of us eat the cheapest foods, dried beans, etc. also being in a small town, I know it isn't easy! It matters that you are an example to the people around you, you do have an impact!

Your dog doesn’t hunt for it’s food so as long as it gets adequate nutrients it’s all good
@renayjain4216 You have no clue what you are talking about. I saved his life by giving him the best plantbased food. He was always sick and throwing up when I gave him meat and animal products. It turned out he is allergic for animal protein. So before you open your mouth again and call me extreme, better look at yourself. You probably would have kept on feeding him meat. Then he would have been dead by now. He will be 14 in August and is very fit, happy and healthy. So who is the extremist here...???
@@loadeddiaper4216ewe sound like a mindless slave
@@loadeddiaper4216dogs arent 'natural' anything. Theyre very different from wolves and they are actually omnivores, which is why they thrive on plant-based diets
As a more experienced vegan, I tend to go towards whole plant, much more than I used to as a beginner vegan. I often thought about the fact maybe "bad" vegan products like very sweet cookies or vegan crisps won't do very well, because vegans tend to understand good health more than meat eaters, because meat eating is the default position to have in society, and veganism is the challenger that brings out more curiosity surrounding good nutrition. I do buy vegan ice-cream, and crisps... but just not as much. I prefer cooking. With vegetables. This may be why you don't see many "bad-for-you" vegan products. They're just not in demand. I would suggest looking at a correlation between lowering sales of "fake meat" products, and a rise in sales of vegetables and legumes. It may indicate a simple switch from beginner vegans who have learned from their experiences. Less vegan resources = more reliance on experience to design your diet. There are fewer vegan cooking hacks, etc. Great video, much love, Ed!
I went vegan in January after being vegetarian for 6 years. I had a delicious black bean burger with vegan mayo and vegan American cheese to celebrate my PR in the half marathon in a brew pub with my run club. So delicious and no harm done.
Our French Bulldog has been on a plant-based diet since 2020 and has been quite happy. Even after nearly 4 years he devours his dry kibble with gusto. Just adopted a second Frenchie and will be transitioning him to a plant-based diet as well.
Veganism rising! ✊🏽
Thank you for all you do Ed!
that 2019 vegan boom was ace, some awesome lines were coming out in regular supermarkets, i had soooo much choice. but yeah, more beans and tofu than fun fancy fake meats mainly due to cozzy lives. i'm also exploring vegan cooking a little more instead of just substituting like i was to start out with, i feel like that's a natural progression anyway; away from fake meats and towards beans and lentils and that, and that's kinda one that I'd guess capital owners would likely not understand.
because switching to a vegan diet was a moral conclusion for me, my switch had to be more or less immediate, i couldn't cut down on meat slowly because i just didn't want to eat it anymore, and the substitutions made things easy, i just picked up different items that did the same thing. I'd still suggest substitutions and fake meats as the best way to start for someone who is doing it for moral reasons, though if they are doing it for health reasons mainly, I'd probably suggest a different route.
Ed - one argument you did NOT make is that many vegans don’t choose to eat products that remind them of animal products. The decline may just be that people are discovering lentil and bean burgers or simply opting for the endless array of alternatives to plant-based meat in the vegan diet.
And they’re very heavy on gluten which irritates many people’s tums. Also idk about you but I seriously wheeze and ache after eating beyond meat. So salty and fatty I can’t handle it
I don’t eat the Impossible ck’n nuggets or Beyond’s sausages either, too successful recreating animal flesh😮But for one individual I know, it helped him become vegan 🌱
I think it's often then case. At first you just look for alternatives of meat products to make the transition easy then you open up to all the different vegan dishes. I used to spend a lot of money on vegan burgers or nuggets, now it's mainly tofu and home cooking. So I guess I'm responsible for the drop in the sales of vegan alternatives even though I didn't quit being vegan.
I think those alternatives are mostly helpful when you make the transition. Same with alcohol. At first you just buy the non-alcoholic beer/wine whenever you're hanging out at a pub then eventually you stop caring and are fine with a juice or coke.
Less meat, less heat, more life.
Meat eaters live longer.

Great video Ed. I think inflation and rising food costs is another factor that wasn't mentioned. I am vegan, and have been for four years, but have recently stopped buying Beyond and Impossible products. Why? Not because they aren't good (they are actually great), but because they have become unaffordable during a cost of living crisis. I am only buying bulk products and no-name versions of most products. I'm not spending 3.5 $CA for a single Beyond Sausage... Ill stick to cereals, rice, and beans.
Ed, you’re brilliant. Thank you ❤
My dog is vegan and looks and acts healthier than most dogs I see. I use holistic brand superfood blend because no bad oils but I’ll check out the Omni brand 👍
Thank you for exposing the lobbiest of death.
Would love a video on bad vs good plant based brands and companies
On behalf the innocent animals and the planet, we thank for the time and effort you put into educating and helping people adopt a cruelty-free diet and lifestyle. Your efforts are much appreciated. 14 years vegan, lifetime vegetarian before that. Now fruitarian.
I also wonder why they only count the number of vegans by how much “plant based meat” is consumed. I’m vegan and I’ve never tried it because I prefer Whole foods and plants. Just because it’s out there doesn’t mean that all vegans buy it. It’s not a scientific approach
Love your work, thx winters
I hardly have mock meats when they're a luxury- plenty of protein in other forms. The coconut oil in many of them is more sat fat than I want anyway. Gone to more whole foods which are cheaper and great anyway.
longer someone's vegan, the less they eat "Vegan Products" and just eat veggies and beans and stuff.
Your book " How To Argue With A Meat Eater" finally arrived! I can't wait to read it. Keep up the good work you do, Ed.
Ed! thank you so much for all the research and planning you do for the videos, and exposing all the bs the "big players" are trying to throw our way. I hope and pray that you are always safe and healthy, and may the best of the best always be with you. Stay safe out there and take care, Ed!
Many of us are whole foods plant based, seldom eating plant based burgers, ect unless we make them at home as in black bean burgers. Just healthier without the extra processing.
The thing I love about Ed is that whether on video or in his books, he never resorts to anger or shouting thereby not putting off his critics. He’s just an intelligent communicator/debater who uses facts. ❤ Also, I ate no meat as a vegetarian, so why would I buy vegan meat? The whole meat argument is irrelevant.
Well said, I completely agree, he is a true inspiration, I honestly don't know how he keeps so calm, cool and collected, especially in times where people are so rude and obnoxious towards him....patience of a saint!
Thank you for addressing this topic as always with great thought and eloquence.
Please bring Omni to South Africa. My dog companion absolutely loves vegan foods and is flourishing on it.
Feeding a dog a vegan diet is animal abuse, slave owner.
I used to eat a lot of vegan junk food, but then became 100% whole foods. By the sale of vegan junk food seems like one vegan is gone, but in reality, that vegan is still there, just healthier.
I like my vegan junk food. I'm skinny already, all good. I want to support those who can make a change for the rest who haven't made that realization yet. Something tastes better to them then maybe they will choose it for their health or the planet. For us it's the animals first as vegans anyway.
🌱
People are getting more aware. The world is changing. Keep educating and spreading words of compassion and kindness to animals. My sons will probably live in a vegan world and that makes me feel happy. Ed, you are a great voice for the animals. We are all grateful for what you are doing for them, the humanity and the planet. ❤ Go vegan, everyone.
It's possible, just yesterday I was listening to Vegan Business Tribe podcast with some stats and he said we just might need a generation for veganism to be more common (there's plenty interesting stats in this video, highly recommend as a companion piece to this Ed's video): czcams.com/video/KIQ8bmyVyaI/video.html
People who say that the world will never change are just refusing to take a reality check and compare today to what it was 10 or 20 years ago. They also forget that the only constant in the world is progress. Sadly, that progress is slow because there always has to be a huge group of guys boycotting literally every single change in the world. But eventually they just give up or move on to the next thing. People were laughing the same way about computer geeks just few decades ago. Yet here we are. Every big change in society and world started with a huge backlash. There's more and more reserach on how eating plant-based is beneficial to both humans and the planet. There's barely any scientific argument left for continuing the consumption of food made from animals. Eventually it's gonna give. Will we see a change in a year or two? Most likely not, because I see the meat industry and the anti-vegan trolls fighting really fiercely trying to stop the progress. But about the only thing they're gonna achievie is slowing down the progress a bit. It's unevitable.
Also, I always like to tell people: "What would you rather have to tell your kid in the future? That we were part of a generation that finally made a change and gave them a better world or continuously explain why the world is worse than ever and why people justify so much abuse?" Idk, feels like a no brainer to me. It was easy for my parents to control the narrative when I was a kid (small town, 90s). Whatever they said I had to believe and didn't have much in terms of doing research. Same with media, we didn't have the internet so you basically bought everything they would say on TV. But today? With the internet? That kind of lying and gaslighting is gonna be impossible. We'll have no choice but to be completely honest with our kids. Otherwise, they will quickly educate themselves and start asking "Mom, Dad, why did you lie to me?".
There has also been a drop off in meat production. Tyson foods has shut down numerous chicken production plants.
Thank you Ed! Vegan for ever and ever and Never forget that!💚
why are animal abusers so keen on abusing animals on a daily basis, but are the first to cry bloody murder if a dog or cat gets kicked?
Because they're "speciests". Some species matter, some don't. Carnist logic

@@absolutezeromusicofficial They dont matter, I dont mind
Dogs and cats are pets, and animal abuse is illegal. Do you own a pet pig, cow, or chicken by chance?
We live near Los Angeles and we are experiencing more and more people going vegan, or at least becoming either 100% or nearly fully plant-based. If sales of vegan meat and cheese are dropping (big IF), then I would guess that it's because people are also realizing that a whole food diet is better in every way than eating processed food. So maybe people are buying more beans and less Impossible junk. That's certainly the case in our household. We still have Gardein in the fridge, but are moving to a predominantly whole food diet. And as you stated, the cost of plant-based meat alternatives is so high now that people are just buying something else... like nuts, beans, and seeds.
I have been following a vegan lifestyle for about two years and a half but never felt the need for vegan chicken. One cannot take just one parameter to pass a judgment about whether veganism is going up or down.
Thank you for all your efforts Ed ❤
Just went to a vegan buffet in my city yesterday and it had a 30 minute wait. Meat is getting desperate this is always a turning point in any rights movement. When the establishment starts to propagandize agaisnt you
can confirm, only a year or two ago i went back to eating tofu, beans, edamame, chickpeas, seeds, peanutbutter, etc. instead of highly cost-inflated plant based meats. i buy a gardein product maybe once a month. life is just so expensive and chickpeas in pasta or scrambled tofu from aldi is just so much more sustainable.

They should ask those kids to spell "Sodium Erythorbate and Sodium Ascorbate." When they ask for the definition, they should say "Two chemicals required to be added to bacon to help stifle the production of Nitrosamines, which cause cancer." (Those are the chemical names for Vitamin E and Vitamin C, but still, that's the level of misinformation that ad is spreading.)

Regarding the higher level of sodium in synthetic meats - I take issue with that as having made beyond and impossible burgers at home - you don't need to season them as their is salt there already. Using ground beef for a burger you have to season it to get flavor from it else it is just texture.
When the Pros vs Cons of meat vs fake meat is talked about, they are almost certainly showing beef with zero seasonings which is not how people eat meat.
In other words, they are still being dishonest even with the sodium argument part of it.
I feed the dog in my care a whole-foods plant-based diet, he is energetic & acts much younger. Compared to being slouchy & dull on the previous diet when cared for by others.
