@Jared Sabatelli The difference is that Japanese comedy can get away with being disturbing through abstraction (see also: Bob Team Epic) while hentai has to have at least one character who is _at least_ realistically (albeit idealistically) anthropomorphic, if not human. Even that one hentai I heard about where a guy has coitus with a doorknob anthropomorphizes the doorknob before the coitus is preformed.

I think he was intentionally making a reference to one of the games. In one of the titles (I think it's "We Love Katamari" but I'm not sure) every time you unlock a cousin the King will describe them and then follow up each time with "how disturbing".

Miki's name is most likely a reference to the character Miki Hoshii from Namcos Idolmaster franchise, since hoshii means star and her head is star shaped.

Nick could also come from niku, the Japanese word for meat. The "mi" in Miki, in addition to meaning beauty, can also mean three or third.

I always assumed Dipp got his name from being covered in stars. One could say his clothes are like a constellation, two of which have the word "dipper" in the name.

Not to be horribly rude but Lockstin's personal health is not really something any of us should discuss willy nilly. If he references it or cracks a joke about it, well alright. However, him not mentioning it again for the whole video should be a sign that we shouldn't tread on his personal life like this.

Not unless if he mentions it otherwise or with his dedicated video(s) like the one you mentioned, on videos like this I personally see it as a bit rude or disrepesctful, at least with the original comment I was just replying towards. No problem with a fanbase learning and teaching others about this guy's physical health issues, I just see it as yes a tad disrespectful with the way the original comment was trying to lean towards.

Ah but what gets rarely talked about is that peso has also another meaning in spanish. It is not simply a currency but peso literally also means weight.

Pokkle *is* a generic magical elf thing of very small stature, that is a fact. And this is very consistent with the koro-pok-guru of Hokkaido Ainu lore, which are known in Japanese as コロポックル or koropokkuru.
I suspect if you saw Pokkle's japanese name, it might be written with the same three kana at the end of the phrase.

Ohh, this is such a fun video! It's so rare to see these sorts of videos (or anything really) for Katamari, and this was such a good watch! Some of these have stumped me for a while, I honestly didn't know about Opeo at all!
There's a couple of name changes/details that I didn't see covered, so I thought I'd just bring them up because trivia is fun!
Daisy- Horumon, either from a Japanese loan of 'hormone,' which is sometimes put into cow's milk, or from 'horumonyaki,' which is a Japanese dish made from beef offal
Huey- Literally just 'Y,' I assume for his shape
Lucha- Fukumen, meaning 'mask,' since he's a masked wrestler
Macho- Gatsu, or 'guts' I assume in the sense of being strong and determined
Twinkle- Subaru, which in Japanese refers to the Pleiades star cluster
Velvet also makes a bit of a pun in the original Japanese, since it's pronounced 'berubetto' with 'beru' also being the pronunciation for 'bell,' possibly because of her sort of bell-shaped torso.

Katamari Damacy was one of the first video games I every played. In it, Jungle had a green-and-brown military pattern, so the name fit more. Also, Lalala was peach; she wasn't tanned yet.

The namco dating sim has homestuck characters for some reason, but sadly not rose or Kanaya, probably because they are married but hey, your character is (implied to be) female, they could totaly at least jokingly flirt with her. Or, more interestingly, they could fall for you, in the caligonus quadrant, then again no-one would stand a chance against rose in such a rivalry, she would most likely win every time, although your character is a blank slate from the start, maybe you start liking how much she defeats you and she then tones it down a bit to keep you from getting to comfortable, and then you can actually get some descent retorts in and it eventually stabilizes, or maybe terezi steps in and auspistecizes you two, I dunno I just want my gall in the game
