R.I.P.: Slap-On Modded Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator with Machine Room Tour!

- Video Recorded on January 3, 2023: This is a service/freight elevator located in the Hughes-Triggs Student Center of Southern Methodist University that has already received a full mod by TKE approximately a week after this video was taken. I didn't originally plan on filming this, but I figured of getting a video of it anyways as well as including a view of the submersible pump machine. Huge thanks to the amazing elevator technicians for offering me this visit! Unfortunately, I didn't retrieve any parts for the following reasons: 1. I only had this much time to explore SMU as I needed to leave town the next couple days. 2. The fixtures are nothing too exciting as I've seen plenty of Innovation both older and newer, all same-o-same. Installed in 1987, partially modernized in the 2000's or 2010's, but since been fully modernized in 2023 (this year).

Sad to hear that this got modded. I’m glad you got permission to go inside the machine room and get a video of it. I love the epic motor sound it has.
I’ve never seen the Dover impulse with a slap on of innovation
Sure, these elevators are only 36 years old, which is getting up there. But why would they have to replace another Dover DMC elevator, since DMC was one of the very best elevator systems ever made?
That's quite the motor on this old Dover elevator, I'm glad you were able to get a shot of the machine room as well. I wonder who is going to modernize this elevator, from what I saw when the door opened down on the first floor the second time there was some things silver on top of a wooden pallet which leads me to believe it's the new motor.

I have a funny feeling the brought it down to the lower level using the very elevator they are going to modernize (unless there's an entrance on LL). That's ironic!
It sucks to see it modernized but it’s good that we still have a very good motor
The even weirder thing is when we get closer it doesn’t smell like metallic, but it smells like a hot glue gun turned on more like a burnt plastic wood and plastic
Hydraulic oil has the same smell as static electricity cause it has a burnt metallic smell
