  • Filmed on December 24, 2018: Here is a ride on top of the car inside the shaft on the freight elevator in a high-rise office building. Huge thanks to ThyssenKrupp Elevator and the property management for arranging this elevator shaft ride and making it happen!!!! :D

    Your very lucky Jim most people would give anything to have a chance to. See inside an elevator shaft I’ve been in many myself it’s nothing to special but your one lucky kid.! I’m glad you was able to take a ride I know Kone is not doing this anymore due to liability and insurance.’ So the fact you was able to do this cherish it forever.’ And thanks for making amazing content

    One of the only people I’ve seen to go on top of a lift (and put it on youtube) with permission. Cool video!

    10:19 That cartop control looks similar to the Mitsubishi cartop controls I've encountered recently, except that common button which you call enable was on the button but maan that's really similar to the Mitsubishi cartop controls and I like it!

      Sorry, I meant the common button was at the top, not button!

    Very appropriate, good job asking an engineer. Some others don’t have any authorised engineer helping which is a shame. But hey your doing appropriate stuff

      Most likely a Maintenance or Service person from Thyssen. I’m in elevator construction in NYC for KONE. Local 1 Elevator Constructor.

    10:46 holding the finger reminds me when I was operator man for an antique elevator and I had to hold the lever in order the elevator to move.

    Thisbthe slowesst elevator ever 😂

    • @JimLiElevators
      @JimLiElevators  Před rokem

      That’s because when someone is running the elevator from on top of the elevator car, it’s known to be slow because the elevator is set into inspection mode. You never ride on top of the elevator car inside the elevator shaft and full speed, it’s very dangerous!

      @@JimLiElevators depends. we always set the inspection speed to 0.5m / second. that's slow enough to be safe I think. you can still go sloth mode if you want but nah.

      The car is Def on inspection and most likely being run with a cartop run box. Comp chains are attached both under the car and under the counterweight to eliminate excessive shifts in weight.
