2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Diesel - Review and Test Drive!

- Hi, welcome to the Luxury Car Report. Today we’re gonna review Jeep’s ultimate luxury SUV, the #Jeep #Grand #Cherokee. This award winning vehicle has a new iteration for 2016 and we’re gonna tell you everything about it.
So what’s under the hood? The Jeep we drove is equipped with the 3 liter EcoDiesel engine that got the Grand Cherokee the Green SUV of the Year award from Green Car Journal and gets up to 30 mpg highway. It is furthermore available with the 3.6L V6 Pentastar which delivers 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, the Hemi V8 which gets 14 city and 22 highway miles and finally the ultimate SRT8 version with an EPA rating of 13 city and 19 highway.
What really sets the Jeep Grand Cherokee apart from all other SUV’s, is its unique mixture of a hyper-luxurious interior with high-quality materials and a car stuffed with the newest technological gizmos, together with a 4x4 platform that is actually capable of conquering the roughest trails around.
While Jeep’s Wrangler remains the true off-road legend, it is not the sweetest treat to drive on-road. Jeep has found an unexpectedly well-balanced compromise in the Grand Cherokee. It doesn’t feel rough at all, but very smooth. It has sound-insulating lamented glass and a suspension that you can set to comfortably soften out the bumps in the asphalt. Should you start to miss the outside world, you can open up the large optional CommandView sunroof.
Since we’re talking Jeep, we’re talking Selec-Terrain. This proprietary 4x4 system provides 5 modes to tackle different weather conditions and driving surfaces. The Quadra-Lift air suspension brings your Jeep up to the right level of ground clearance! Going off-road with your vehicle gives a huge fun factor, so if you’re planning on buying an SUV anyway, we’d definitely recommend to consider this real 4x4! Why stick to the road when there are so many other interesting surfaces to drive on?
Is it safe?? With its side curtain airbags, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning, I’d definitely say “yes”! Another surprising feature we found while using the backup camera: it actually warns you when a vehicle is passing from behind, even with high speed!
And all that was being enjoyed in the royal luxury of premium leather with accented stitching, real exotic open-pore wood and a suede-like headliner. And the sunroof, of course. And did we mention that the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s Harman Kardon audio system drives 19 speakers? No? 19 speakers!
So, what is our conclusion? First of all, this SUV has so many features that you sure need to check it out at the dealership to get to know all of them, it will amaze you. I like how the newest generation kinda looks a little like a WJ. I have a 2004 WJ Gray and its still beautiful. This looks like an updated version of it.

I drive a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland EcoDiesel. This car can tow a boat or a camper, drives well on snow and rough roads and yet handsome enough for the city streets.

Yep, it gives a very smooth image! Though we're considering switching to 4K which has to be shot in 30fps due to limitations of the hardware.

GC Overland does not have Harman / Kardon 19 speaker system. It comes with Alpine 9 speaker 506W system. Harman / Kardon comes standard on Summit and SRT models, and is not available as a option for any other trim level. At least in Europe.
subuk same with the American version....we own the limited and I'm VERY impressed with the alpine and could not imagine the Harman/ kardon 19 speakers
I was driving Summit 3 days ago to test it out and I need to tell you the H/K system has not blown me away. Not a big difference between Alipne in my current Fiat Freemont (Dodge Journey R/T) and H/K on the Jeep to be honest. I suppose Alpine on Overland is awesome too.

Jeep without a doubt. Rovers are horrendous in reliability.

Buenas desde colombia ya hera que fabricaran una jeep diesel creo a colombia no llegue eso ya se volvio un negocio con esa gasolina tan costosa que es una de las mas costosas del mundo y mas para este tipo de camionetas con motores grandes de gasolina si llegara a colombia esta jeep diesel valdria todavia mas costosa como haca todo es negocio lastima pero no deveria se asi eso pasa con munchas marcas que mandan al pais en camionetas o automoviles son los basicos con presios de las mas completas o full equipo eso pasa con la toyota prado o con la kia sorento gracias.
Didn't the 2016 jeep go to the new shifter. That electronic shifter was 2015 now the shifter has the characteristics of the old shifter but no cable all electronic. Think this jeep is a 2015 or maybe depends on engine level.

+Justforstyle santana wrong. The shifter is still electronic. It moves like it's an old style shifter but is connected to a circuit board. The shifter that was in the 2014-2015 was this grip style that you click to get the gear. All computerized. New shifter is computerized but looks and slides like a shifter. Check them out. Way Better.

How tall is the driver? Is this vehicle okay for taller people?
The driver in that video measures 6 foot 8. It suits tall people very well, thanks especially to the telescoping steering wheel and the wide range of adjustments of the driver's seat.

My 2016 has the upgraded gear shift lever. That looks like the lever from the 2015.
This is the 2015...the 2016 has a new shifter.

Luxury Car Report the Jeep overland or the Jeep summit both can have hemi was wondering which one is better.
The Summit is even more luxurious than the overland. It features the Harman Kardon audio, even better sound insulation, and some more extra features. If you're looking for one and they're both within your price range, than Summit will get you an even better equipped version. The audio system might be the main reason to decide for the Summit.

thats not even a 2016...the 16's will come with a totally different transmission shifter brcause there was some complaint with the previous ones from 14 and 15
The model year is not the same as the production year. Cars produced during the second half of 2015 are model year 2016.
+LuxuryCarReport you are wrong and kenny is correct this is not the 2016 jeep cherokee. If you take a look at Edmunds video that they did the gear shifter has been redone and taken back to a standard shifter rather than the current one that you are showing in the 2015 model
Luxury Car Report: Not this car! Production did not start on the 2016 GC until Dec 23rd. The Jeep in this video is a 2015.

Matt Lady i bought a 2016 and we have had it for about three months we like it sofar.....I here people say this all the time but I don't hear any one explaining them self....all I hear is jeep shifter this jeep shifter that ....2016 resigned the shifter ...soooo I'm confused I'm sure someone will chime in and tell me moper/jeep sucks and by no means am I a molar/jeep fan (it's my wife's car) I own a Ford F-150 BUT that being said ....honestly this thing is pretty slick I have to admit
