Fanboy and Chum Chum, despite being released to negative reviews across the board and infamously hated for years, has recently received a bit of a resurgence in popularity online, with many claiming it to be Underrated! So today I'm asking the question; Why Was Fanboy and Chum Chum So Hated?

Hello there

I remember being really impressed by the stretchy 3d models when it first aired, never saw anything like it before
I think it was Fanboy and Chum Chum and TMNT 2012 that really made me appreciate how far TV CGI has come thanks to how cartoonish the animation can get.
Yeah. The cartoon physics that correlated with the CGI models feels like if Ren and Stimpy was animated on 3D. It's impressive for its time, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
This show was around the time Nickelodeon shows were making the transition to being produced in HD so bonus.
The characters models kinda look like human versions of the Rabbids
Same! Itâs what made me like the show. While the humor was juvenile, the animation style is what made me like it.
Something I always noticed about the show is that there are literally no background characters, except for a few extra kids in their class to fill out the room. They live in this huge town but whenever they walk around the streets are empty unless thereâs another main character there, itâs almost uncanny how empty their environments are
I feel like a lot of shows have this tbh, I think the big example is Ed Edd n Eddy but that kind of works because it primarily takes place in a small neighborhood
Yeah, the lack of background characters in this show outside of the school and Frosty Mart does make the whole world feel empty.
Because it takes place in purgatory*â@@ghhn4505
Because extra character models cost money.
nobody wants to come anywhere near the immense power of fanboy and chumchum
11:26 I like how Mark censored the word "femboy" but not "cum". Incredible move
Nah I think he said Fuckboy
I thought the ranter was saying "fatboy".
He censored it because he was saying *homophobic slur that starts with f*boy
It was fagboy he censored
I thought it was Fuckboy
Fanboy and Chum Chum is one of the shows that donât make you nostalgic at all, but rather just make you go âoh yeah, it existedâ. Nothing exactly memorable to the point where you can reminisce on scenes that stuck with you, but not so forgettable that itâs entirely removed from your childhood
Speak for yourself this was my shi
Ngl felt the same way about chowder
nah it definitely makes me nostalgic idk
@@perhapsmoose thatâs cool! It could partially be down to the show not being as huge an influence on my childhood like other shows. Different for everyone, I suppose :)
@@Astrotanz Yeah I don't even think I was like a huge fan or anything I just know I liked it at the time and it sort of represents a certain weird era that is special to me so it definitely triggers some nostalgia for me at least
Never understood why people were mad about Nickelodeon not picking Adventure Time. If it went with Nick it would've lasted 2 seasons max for not making SpongeBob numbers.
Honestly never saw it as people were mad, more like "Haha let's all laugh at Nickelodeon for their choices" lol
â@@michaelboyle7281 And this isn't even the first time. I've heard that Nick passed up on The Proud Family, Ed Edd n Eddy, and Pepper Ann.
Nickelodeon is notorious for making bad decisions.
@@michaelboyle7281 got it. Still if they picked it up it would've gone the way of Zim.
@@kittykittybangbang9367 Nick would have ruined all those shows.
â@@MoodKapProductions We wouldn't have gotten Zim if those got picked up
Literally the ONLY reason Chum Chum got an ironic Twitter revival was because the creator made Glitch Techs, a show people actually liked at the time
In reality, it's a mid show, but I'll never forget all the times I watched it with my dad. He really liked the show, and having him laugh beside me is something that caused the show to be a bit more memorable to me.
I'ont wanna hear it, Fanboy and Chum Chum is peak.
Say what you want about _Fanboy and Chum Chum,_ let's give the show a credit for saving _Adventure Time,_ which later became one of the successful on CN in the first place. If it wasn't for the show, then _Adventure Time_ won't lasted longer in two seasons on Nickelodeon and CN would be still stuck in the live-action era.
Yes sir best thing about the show
No never that's like thanking Hitler bc we have Adam Sandler in America today

Counterpoint i feel like Adventure time out stayed its welcome and i was honestly bored of it by the end.
I'd say it was hated because its obnoxious traits (the intro, the excessive screaming, the toilet humor) stood out the most out of anything the show had
And, you know, those things garner hate pretty easily
Yeah it just had 2020 - 2021 humor on 2009 wich didnt worked good
Just dont overthink it
Fr the potty humor and screaming turned me off the show pretty hard as a kid
â@@enderraltorgamer24-teamesq6facts. I hate this humor we got now it's pathetic. It's like the movie idocracy kinda humor. Just dumb
â@@skullio2802sadly this generation lives that kinda shit now.
Not ashamed to admit I actually enjoyed this show when it was airing, and I still get a good bit of charm out of it today
There were four episodes in particular that ALWAYS stuck with me!
-Fanboy overfeeding Yo's Tamagotchi pet, they bury the device and it comes back as a psycho zombie
-Fanboy switching brains with a robot (this is the one I meme the most about, and my personal favorite)
-The (in)famous episode about night morning (midnight), which when remembering it's 12 AM, and people are sleeping usually, it makes sense
-Fanboy getting turned into a wooden puppet because of his naughtiness LMAO
I freaking loved all of these episodes đ Another one of my personal favorites was the episode where itâs the school dance and Fanboy goes with a Mop but then the mop catches him cheating on her with Chum Chumâs cousin đ
This video taught me that, thanks to a childhood of avoiding this show and its reruns like the plague, I had NO idea what Fanboy or Chum Chum sounded like. When LSMark played that clip of Chum Chum talking to compare his voice to the Sonic character's voice, I was legit shocked. He sounds so different than what I had imagined.
Bro fr I had the same thought hahaha
Every time that theme song started, I changed the channel
my fav continuity bit from the show is from an episode where fanboy, chum chum and kyle try to turn in a false excuse note to their teacher forever but the note had gotten sliced up in a fan and stuck back together with tape, so their names got mushed together into "Fankylechum". One boy from the class happens to be named that and is the one who gets excused, he went on to appear in future episodes where he was refered by that name at least twice.
Thatâs a pretty good bit honestly
I laughed at the scene where Kyle wanted to resurface the excuse note back by saying "NOTES!" with a magic wand he's using, which results to other things like newts and nets.
I remember really enjoying the episode where Fanboy and Chum Chum wanted to beceome vampires. That and the sentient bubble gum monster episode.
I hated this show as a kid.
It was just so.. off.
It was so strange.
Thanks for cherishing us with your content.
Agreed.
Strange is the exact word that fits the show's weirdness.
This show goddamn sucked
Ha 69th like
Same. I feel like I'm the minority here being like "nah I hated this shit and I still hate this shit"
Funny how the creator of this show eventually went on to make Glitch Tech, a critically praised show.
my guilty pleasure is "the barnyard"
but mainly due to one character
freddy the ferret! man i love that lunatic
The lack of any parents (aside from Oz's mom) was something about this show I always found fascinating. Like, there's plenty of adults, but no parents.
Years ago I headcanonned that the show was set in the future where any and all parents live in some giant space station we never see, and that kids are sent down to Earth to live and fend for themselves.
They atleast have adults, aside for ed edd and eddy.
@@ThePapaja1996 That's what I said. There's adults in this show, but no parents.
In Ed, Edd, n' Eddy's case, adults and parents do exist, they're just miraculously never around.
Parents weren't really needed in the show, I suppose
Well that's dark
that is part of the reason i loved the show so much. no parents to limit what the cast can do. its like tom and jerry, I love the episodes where tom doesn't have an own FAR FAR better than the episodes where he does have one; when the owner exists, tom has to worry too much about not breaking anything which limits what they can do, while episodes where his owner is never present or doesn't exist allows the tom to borderline destroy the house with no limits and do all sorts of extreme things. this is also the reason why I usually hates that so many shows are set in school where it limits what the characters can do drastically.
Robot and Monster is one of the most underrated Nick shows ever produced. It truly deserves a second chance, and I mean that wholeheartedly.
I don't find it underrated as much as I find it mediocre at best. I remember watching it back in 2014 when I was 14 and I wasn't a particular fan of. Mostly because of how needlessly mean-spirited it felt. There also characters I didn't find enjoyable at all. There are a few episodes which I actually enjoyed, mostly because they didn't rely on mean-spirited humor. Despite this however, the show itself is pretty forgettable and it feels like another wannabe SpongeBob.
Oh totally! Robot & Monster and CatDog deserved better. I love Robot and Monster actually being friends and room mates, but it's not being forced. Robot gets annoyed with Monster but if someone tried to attack Monster, you know he'd be the first one to stick up for him.
i know right. robot monster was like pretty popular then after the show got cancelled it just went completely silent
I agree. Itâs amazing but it wasnât bad.
Eh, as someone who watched it I remember it being meh/ok.
A real underrated show is something like Catscratch.
I actually really liked this show as a kid. It felt dumb and pointless at points, but it never failed to entertain me
Same here but overtime my sense of humor changed and could no longer process the humor this show was trying to portray
Also my father heard jokes from this show and HE JUST. WOULDNâT. STOP!!!!
0:17 Woah, woah back it up there shanty! Penguins of Madagascar is legitimately fucking great and doesnât belong in that lineup imo
I loved when chumchum said "it's chumming time" and chummed all over the place!
My favorite part was when fanboy said "its fanning time" and fanned everywhere. Truly a classic moment.
Remove the later "h" in "chum" if you must.

@@bababababababa6124 yea I just âwatchedâ this when it was premiering but always thought it was weird/unfunny
Come, and or came.
This show was a literal fever dream too
Fanboy and Chum Chum's 2D artwork is legitimately beautiful and deliciously stylish. Even as a kid it stood out to me.
honestly I'm just happy we are finally over the whole "if the art style is as ugly as possible it makes it funnier!" thing we had in the early 2000's, aka this show, almost naked animals, grizzly tales for grusome kids, fleabag monkey face and I hate to say it but Jimmy neutron at certain times, and no I don't mean the bad CGI that can be forgiven, I mean more the designs of the characters, the animation is at least pretty good on the show it really impressed me as a kid
fanboy and chumchum was the show that made me think i was outgrowing cartoons as a kid. it was good to realize a few years later that i was wrong and the show was actually just that bad
Lmao
Thereâs good animation like fantasia and itâs sequel
It may suck but the intro slaps

Back at the Barnyard is the only one of these meme cartoons that I really, really enjoy. It's nothing but an outlet for Steve Oedekerk's shitpost humor and the bad CGI enhances the whole thing. If you like Kung Pow and the Thumb movies, you'll love this show.
I absolutely LOVED the show when I was a kid. the fast paced, cartoony, over the top, unrealistic, hyperactive nature of the show made it borderline perfect for me. there were little to no limits most of the time and dang near anything could happen for no rhyme or reason, which I loved and wish more shows would take note of it.
Damn you for getting that fucking theme song stuck in my head again lol
I honestly love this show as a kid, i kind of felt ashame for liking it when i heard people say It was trash
It isn't that bad, it's just a generic kids show that doesn't do anything remarkable.
I remember watching this show as a kid and thought it was great, but as an adult have 0 reason to go back to it
The people excessively criticizing the show are looking at it from the eyes of a critic on the internet, rather than the intended audience aka children
This show is trash tho
That's because the cartoon "critic" community's mostly an echo chamber
You like what you like, you shouldn't be ashamed of that, never let crowd-think dull your own opinions, they're ultimately the only ones that really matter to you. Plus it's OK to like "bad" things, you do you .
good because its slop
I was always so strangely interested in this show. Not once did I think it was weird. I actually LIKED seeing how insanely weird and outcast-ish it was. I loved the weird and kinda ugly look of the models. Also how hyperactive Fanboy and Chum-Chum were. As a kid, I loved seeing characters who were as hyperactive like me, although highly exaggerated. I only got my ADHD diagnosis at age 18, but this show was my shit as a kid and I now fully understand why.
Same, I remember seeing people shit on the show for being too over the top but it never felt overwhelming to me. It did so much for undiagnosed neurodivergent kids
Uncle grandpa is better adhd
Oh my god the advent that the reason I kept up with this show is my childhood undiagnosed ADHD is so funny to me lol maybe thatâs why it was panned by a NT audience
Yep, as an autistic kid, loud and frenetic cartoons most adults found obnoxious were my jam.
your comment is a contradiction
this same effect is happening to the other nick show âBread Winnersâ im seeing kids flock to it as an âunderrated gemâ on tiktok
god I hated breadwinnies
Growing up, this show always just kind of made me think "I wish I was watching Billy and Mandy."
Iâm not sure if anyone else is aware of this, but back in 2020 there was a massive resurgence of the fandom of fanboy and chum chum, with emo teenagers unironically loving it and drawing honestly really cute fanart of the characters (plus lots of people shipped fanboy with Kyle), and you can still find it if you scroll back far enough in the tags. Less wholesomly, there was a 20-something woman who drew TONS of nsfw art of the characters and had been doing it for literal years, and still does it to this day I believe.
Very creepy tbh they are all kids so that's very gross
Ew
They did not have us in the first half.
We knew exactly where this was going.
Rebecca Sugaresque moment
i was part of this over quarantine. fbacc was one of my favorite shows as a kid, even back then i tried to hide it because i knew it wasnât really the best and it was a pretty out of character thing for me to watch, but it did help me through a rough patch in my childhood. i liked seeing fanart of the characters in so many different art styles and it was just plain fun in a dark time. oh god donât remind me of that artist though, the shit she did was absolutely abhorrent, i still wish i could delete images from my brain
I swear I always find myself agreeing with you almost 100% of the time. Especially about the cycle of shows being called 'bad' upon release then years later when the kids who watched it grow up it's called underrated... I remember shows like Chowder and Flap Jack were universally hated online when they first aired only for them to be look back at fondly now. Hell, it's happening with Teen Titans GO right now... That show was hated by everyone just a few years ago and now it looks like it's developing a fan base of "You know guys, it's actually good!" This is the never ending cycle of nostalgia...
People hated chowder?
@@tjreardon8495 Yup, I remember people talking so much smack about it on cartoon fourms saying it was a part of 'the end' of Cartoon Network alongside CN real. This was way back around 2008 when it first premiered.
Most of the hate of chowder are probably from people who are nostalgic for stuff like ppg johnny bravo and dexters lab
@@zeroxluluRespectfully, how old are you? I remember growing up with chowder and flapjack, always thought they were great (flapjack more so bc my dad also found it really funny): I canât really remember people hating it? Maybe Iâm missing somethingâŠ.
All that said, I think that cycle kind of makes sense. Like, itâs easier to find things to dislike than it is to find things to enjoy. TTG does have plenty of legitimately funny scenes and moments, but also has some pretty obvious technical flaws. Plus, the show being aired near 24/7 did not help its case lol I say that though as someone who didnât like the show, but did find some scenes enjoyable. I think people just feel better able to express that sentiment with the show kinda far removed from public consciousness.
@@TheNwr1 I'm in my mid 20s lol by the time Flapjack/Chowder came I guess I was entering my 'tween' phase and started thinking I was too cool for cartoons lol It was also around the time I first had access to the internet so of course I would hop on and find that a lot of people also shared mutal dislike for Chowder/Flapjack and other shows airing at the time. I wish I still had it but I remember uploading a crappy vid using a loop of Chowder speaking and text to speech program to make it seem like he was talking about how much he sucked haha it only had a handful of comments but they pretty much all agree with sentiment that Chowder/modern CN sucked and that they should bring back the 'classics'. Of course 'classic' is subjective, my cousins would say the shows I grew up with like, Foster's Home or Camp Lazlo sucked compared to the 'classics' they grew up with. Again, it just seem to be a never ending cycle of the older generation saying their stuff was better only for the younger generation to grow up and say the same thing lmao. All that being said, I now feel like I was a bit hard on Chowder as watching it now I find it has a lot of funny scenes. I can't say the same for Flapjack though, but that's just my opinion.
I feel like the reason it developed a fandom at all was mainly because it was pushed so damn hard.
Nick really wanted the show to do well, and the best it did was gain a fandom of people who are like "It's kinda good. I liked it."
this sparked a memory inside me that i definitely didnt want to remember. back in 2020-2021 it had REALLY resurged and had its own fandom, which i was in at the time, and let me tell you, im embarrassed to say i really enjoyed the fandom when it was alive. a bunch of people shipped kyle and fanboy, or another "wizard" named sigmund-- not going any further then that. so this video sparked my embarassing memories of that phase, thanks but also why must you put me through this mental torture
I remember hating this show but I still watched it a LOT for some reason. I think despite the odd designs, wacky animation, and weird humor, it still scratched some part of my kid brain. I think my favorite character was either fanboy or the magician kid, since I remember liking their scenes the most. I'm considering rewatching a few episodes because my kid brain might've been too harsh on it.
I think I watched it because I just liked cartoons
Same but I think it is just because it was on a LOT,, like nickelodeon basically played it all day iirc
I highly agree with what you said near the end, Lots people act like every piece of media has to be either a 10/10 masterpiece or the worst thing ever created which is baffling to me
Thatâs why people crap on turning red when itâs a fine film it had a personality and a good tone leagues better than lightyear which was as entertaining as dinosaur (2000)
â@@staringcorgi6475 The reason why the film got hated because it has anything to do with periods and why it failed because of the pandemic happening. Turning Red is a solid film, but the unnecessary hatred and controversies ruined it so much that I wished it deserves better.
Yeah, where's the neutral scale?
Canât believe someone else also appreciates that song at the beginning of the video from Pac Attack, such a hidden jam. Perfectly edited with the intro commentary too.
For some reason fanboy and chum chum was a big part of my childhood
i feel like you're so good at covering animation because even when talking about shows you don't really like like this one, you're still able to name a lot you love about them and show respect for the creators. it's really refreshing and nice to see. :)
This is why Iâm less harsh on kids shows these days. As a kid in the early 2000s, I canât say every cartoon I saw and enjoyed wasnât trash
Even back in the early aughts, people who grew up on 80s and early 90s toons were trashing the tastes of kids then. Just look at any animation-related internet message board from the time.
I liked rubbish when i was young and now heavily like most of illuminationâs catalog once i watched actual good films i now see them as absolute rubbish like the minions movie
Basically, the cartoon community told me that: If the show dosen't have lore and it's a comedy, it automatically bad
I think thereâs two sides of reactions to this show.
Either itâs âan abomination and the worst show to ever appear.â
Or
âClassic. Nostalgic. Absolutely loved it!â
Your animation skill are getting better every time I watch! WELL DONE!!
I remember loving this show as a kid, glad it wasn't 100% unfounded. People treat this show like it committed a heinous warcrime, but it's just harmless (long as you plug your ears whenever Chumchum speaks, that is)
I honestly loved this show as a kid, hell I still think about it from time to time nowadays. Also in terms of their parents, I'm pretty sure that Chum-Chum still has a mom and dad, they were talked about in an episode (I forgot which) where Chum-Chum grew giant after getting upset at something, and it turned out his mom and dad were also giants.
Incredible Chulk?
@ thats the one!
Yes.
i appreciate the show artistically because it's very clear they designed these characters to look good in both drawing AND 3d. the art itself is charming (and proof that styles don't have to be "pretty" to be good) and it gives me like- wackier psychonauts vibes :D
...
also friendly reminder this has the same creator as glitch techs
4:53 I laughed WAYYY harder than I should've at this clip LMAO the absolute lack of answer in this reaction is fucking golden :'D
FINALLY! LS Mark is covering a REAL Cartoon
Never liked this show as a kid and i still donât really now, but this video gave me an appreciation for the animation. It is actually pretty impressive
I remember watching like 1 episode as a kid and it taught me what the emotion of hate is
Fanboy and Chum Chum always scratched this particular itch I've always had, and that's watching the antics of childhood friends. Ever since I was a kid, I would always look at people and wonder what their lives were like, especially their childhoods. I adored my own childhood, and I miss it now more than ever. Watching cartoons about the daily lives of childhood friends gives me this warm feeling of nostalgia.
I have two lasting memories of this show:
* The theme song is terrible, and I always muted the TV whenever it was playing (though I've heard some recent-ish instrumental covers that prove it's actually quite catchy without the terrible vocals)
* One time my sister was watching iCarly when the network glitched somehow and showed the visuals for an episode of Fanboy and Chum Chum while the iCarly audio continued as normal. It synced up surprisingly well.
I actually only liked the theme song at first I thought it was catchy and had an interesting beat lol, my childhood friend had to convince me to watch it pass the theme song
I think the voice acting in this show is good, but not for the actors in the theme song.
Wait, there's a character that's a literal wizard attending this regular school because he was kicked out of his wizarding school? That sounds like a way better premise for a TV show than this! WTF wasn't this show about him instead!?
Haha, most of the fandom that exists for this cartoon says the same. Then again they also simp for him so...
ââ@@nnemmesissimp? Bruh he's like 9 đ đ đcreepy af
@@circleinforthecube5170 He's 12 but yeah no better LOL
Good question. This is why you give more thought to a show before you give it the green light.
I recall enjoying robot and monster, along with the other shows that circled fan boy and chum chum on nicktoons like Sanjay and Craig and breadwinners which had a very catchey 8bit background noise that reminded me of classic video games.
I was 5 when fanboy and chum chum aired and I remember loving this show and can still remember being older and watching re runs on nicktoons đ
I honestly always thought this show was funny growing up. More so in an ironic way. It did lead to some killer memes.
The Robot and Monster renaissance is coming, Mark. Be afraid.
I still canât get over the fact that nick chose this over adventure time
Or that when the creator made a much better show they put it in hiatus to this day
I can. Cartoon Network rejected Fairly Oddparentsđ€·ââïž
I don't know how I still remember the exact same episode I started watching this (The one with the movie theater), but yeah even as a child it was really noticeable how stretched thin they were with the assets by the end
5:10 this clip shows perfectly why Boog is one of the greatest anime villains of all time/Carl Wheezer universe.
A show you should cover is Kid vs Kat. That was a great show; the first season had some rough areas but was very funny and the second season was good. But unfortunately we never got a ending to the show - there was supposed to be a 3rd season which didnât happen and the second season finale (which is in no way acceptable for concluding a series) became the series finale.
Yk I always wondered why season 2 ended the way it did, know I know why
@@draguOdoT Yeah, the show started off a bit bad with the third and fourth episodes being some of the worst of the entire show but then with Season 2 it got quite good: we saw a larger picture, Coop and Kat worked together on several occasions and there were only 2 episodes I didnât like.
@@EpicJoshua314 On August 19, 2011, Rob Boutilier announced via Facebook that Kid vs. Kat wasn't renewed for a third season and he lacked the rights to make further episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted a third season though considering the way season 2 ended.
First of all love your content no lie your content gets me thorough my days. Fabulous and keep up the great work.
I think the style of this show impressed me more than anything like how everything was all stretchy and weird. Also yes it did cross my mind as well like where are their parents and like if chum chum is supposed to be younger, than how does fanboy keep sneaking into his same class.
This whole show was just like shenanigans turned up to 200. I swear. And i fucken hated it. It just reminded me of my siblings and trust me when you hear your siblings yelling and the tv mirroring that....its the fastest way to go insane.
A wizard kid going to a regular school after being expelled and hating it, thatâs just good comedy.
For some reason my dad thought this show was called Fatboy and Chum Chum, and wondered why the skinny guy called himself fat...
Yeah that's the most intresting thing I can say about the show.
The Madagascar penguin animated series is actually a banger though.
I watched this show intensely in middle school! I related particularly to Kyle as we have a similar personality,I even wanted braces as he made them look so cool, although my teeth were ok,now over ten years later,Iâm probably getting the braces as my molars have shifted and I bite my cheeks every time I chew anything now.
5:59 the hero would also make me think of diamond head bc the way his head is
Honestly, I loved this show. It was goofy, not super serious with even its storyline, the animation style was super unique to me. I know it was kinda cringe, but that didnât stop me from loving it, it was a guilty pleasure.
It wasnât a gem, or a top favorite, but I liked it. It wasnât underrated, I just think that there were some merits that made it unique and creative. Itâs not terrible, but itâs not underrated either. It was just simple, goofy, and had a lot of artistic merits that I admired. Plus, a ton of references to different comics, action movies, the like.
Spongebob Squarepants + Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie = Fanboy and Chum Chum (that's how I describe it as)
Its crazy i can't remember a single episodes from this show but i remember that i used to love it when i was little
Scoring through CZcams and I saw the thumbnail and title and unlocked a hidden memory with the name of the show đ
I grew up watching Fanboy and Chum Chum it is still one of my comfort food for animation it is genuinely good and up there with classics like Robot and Monster.
11:31 really glad you brought that up since nowadays every show has to have lore or serialization, even shows like Big City Greens.
The over-saturation of these type shows make it hard for the showâs target demographic of kids to follow but not adults, hence why we got the animation community today.
Ahhh yes that silly little shpw about the girls and the frogs? Yeh in the next season one of them gets fucking stabbed great for kids
I would disagree, as a kid who grew up during the lore heavy cartoon era I absolutely loved it, kids like thinking that they are smart and lore gives a way for them to engage with the thing they like beyond: I like this. But then again cartoons that are just silly goofy fun are very enjoyable
Which is one of the reasons Star vs The Forces of Evil downgraded with the third and especially fourth season
@@ObviOneKenobi thatâs accurate
Fr, kids can have fun and just enjoy nonsensical comedy without already preparing to understand deeper meanings and lore and such
Hearing the music that used to be played in skate or die from when I was a kid brings back memories
This show and Breadwinners was my jam when I was around 10-13
Well, the biggest word of the show is Probably:
"Terrible...but pretty fun sometimes."
*Sometimes
My creative writing teacher loved Fanboy and Chum Chum. He actually sang some of the songs from the show in class sometimes, he was one of my favorite teachers.
I never hated that cartoon, I loved it back in the 2010s and I'd watch it with my sister, it was funny.
I need a compilation of all the Palpatine references within the show. I recall them being hilarious when I watched this show as a kid.
Im a huge fan of both Fanboy and Chum Chum and Robot and Monster. I grew up loving both and recently still finding myself loving the shows just as much, even if there was a lot of nostalgia for both. I think the love of anything is subjective, you can love disney, doesnt mean i have to
The latter was forgotten to time
God i loved this show as a kid.
Looking back, what the actual hell..?
Ditto, it was fun.
fb&cc is one of my fav shows unironically (i luv it sm)
I used to love this show as a kid, it had some sort of charm that just sort of made me laugh and looking back now, it still makes me chuckle at some parts of it.
I actually really liked fanboy and chum chum. I wasnât the target demographic though. I was already well into my college years when I discovered it and just thought it was a weird and funny show. I expected a lot more shipping between fanboy and the wizard kid and was surprised how hated the show was.
I loved the show as a kid (and still do, but I can see the flaws now, but it's nostalgic lol) and trust me, people raved over those two and made AMVs to Lady Gaga. IIRC, even the official Tumblr would post fan-submitted art and you can tell that there were a lot of 12-year-olds picking up their weird vibes like bloodhounds. This was when it actually aired on tv, not just during the post-ironic fan resurgence.
Homie, they are actual children đ creepy af
I loved this show, kick buttowski, and the apparently infamous Robot and Monster. I remember being so destroyed when I found out there wasnât going to be a season 2 of it. I was obviously bullied in school.
The theme to kick buttowski is permanently burned into my head, even though I probably only saw like 3 full episodes tops back when it was still running
Kick buttowski was one of my favesss
This show came out when I was in the 4th grade. I was the only kid among my classmates who actually enjoyed the show. Now Iâm 24 and I see some of my old classmates repost clips from the show that became memes. A few of them admit that they didnât watch the show but agree that the clip is funny, but thereâs been a few where theyâll say that theyâve always loved the show since it came out. I want to believe that they probably loved it in secret when it was releasing and just went a long with the crowd that said it was bad. But honestly I feel like theyâre lying đ The show was very memorable for me. Any show that had a main character who either loved to create art, read comics, or had an active imagination always related to me because I loved (and still love) those things at that age. I rewatched it as an adult and I could definitely tell that everyone who worked on it was having a fun time.
I loved this show. Me and my dad still joke about the name of it all the time.
Fuck boy and cum cum?
13:25 oh cool he's talking about me :)
Giga chad!
I remember for some reason liking the show as a kid and I still do a lil bit. But now itâs a show I would just have playing in the background while Iâm doing something
I don't know if anyone remembers this show on the same channel as wowwow Wubzy. A live action show hosted by two guys who were in a room that had ALOT of doors. The doors opening to a different 'world' each episode
I grew up on Fanboy & Chum Chum so Iâll always love it, definitely one of the more unique shows from my childhood
BRAAAAAAAAAAAIN FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE!
Mark I'll have you know that the Garfield show goes harder than my coworkers when I inject them with a syringe that contains a serum that turns their blood into stone automatically.
The Garfield Show was far from perfect, but also far from the worst thing ever. It gets way more hate than it deserves.
@@abdullahibouraleh6919 Now, The Garfield Show becomes acceptable because of how overlooked the show is, and we can all thank for the memes.
Honestly didnât expect that anyone still remembered Robot and Monster, I swear that show existed for like one summer and then it was never seen again
PLS DO A MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE VIDEO. if you havenât seen the show you would love it. amazing writing
This show, the Garfield show, and Uncle Grandpa were a few highlights from my teenage years. I didn't care for Steven Universe or Gumball after season 1. I was always someone who didn't care what people said and watched what I wanted. As an adult, watching these older cartoons in they're entirety, and being able to share them with friends has been an absolute blast. Great content bud here's a like.
Despite the Dirk Slander.
Guy who made uncle grandpa makes insane stuff on CZcams now, called sick animation
I love all the characters
My fav part of the internet was when cartoonnetwork made a joke animation where Uncle Grandpa would all of the best cartoon awards. And people in the comment sections were unironically pissed off.
Ever since Iâve watched itâs always sunny recently, I genuinely canât unhear Fanboy whenever I see Rickety Cricket pop up.
love that you mentioned robot and monster. that was the shit for me when i was 4
This happens with so many shows, it's insane. Even some that aren't even that old. Rise Of The TMNT was DESPISED when it came out but now that its over, people love it (for good reason of course, it's great, but it sucks that it got so much hate back in the day). A lot of it adds up to some networks not advertising their shows at all if they don't immediately get high ratings (*cough* nickelodeon *cough*). A lot of people in the ROTTMNT fandom didn't even know about the shows existence until the movie released since that was produced by Netflix. Heck, one of the reasons the viewship was so poor is because Nickelodeon was constantly changing when and where it was airing and then just..not announcing where and when it would be (especially when it was left to die on Nicktoons).
One thing that really sucks is when shows have a rough start and they immediatly get tossed aside. There are so many beloved shows that took a while to get good but now, if you're not doing amazing immediately, time to get cancelled.
(Apologies for using a completely different show as an example, it's just easier to talk about a show I'm really interested in and it also just displays how often Nick does this to their shows, both the good and the bad.)
Yo as a fellow tmnt fan, youâre so right! I was immediately reminded of 2012 tmnt when I was watching this.
I remember how LITTLE they announced that the 2012 show even EXISTED. It was crazy! I wanted to watch it as a kid and I couldnât catch it when it aired!
But yeah it sucks how nick behaves with their cartoons. Thatâs what makes Cartoon Network so beloved is that theyâre way more willing to give shows a chance to find their footing.
