Rangers rule I have one 21 sport 4x4 with rear locker but don't have the skid plates of the fx4 package in the video so I'm scared to do some of this more extreme stuff he did in this video...also I've never gone off roading with someone so I usually pick easy trails
I am continuously surprised by the capability of my '21 Ranger FX4. I do have rails on it, absolute first must-upgrade in my opinion.
That Grande cherokee is ballsy, definitely, a lot to fix after that.

There's a certain satisfaction in conquering trails with stock vehicles.
I like the suspension travel and articulation of the jeep unlimited
The fact the Wrangler needed to be told where to go and couldnt climb that stepup otherwise tells you that people just buy Jeeps to just buy em😂

Sometimes you just gotta give it the beans! Lol. The FX4 is remarkably capable out-of-the-box, not great breakover though. Electric rear lockers, the front is open, but the electronic torque vector does a good job in sand mode of moving that power around, as long as you give it enough beans to work. Wheel hop is when you break stuff ($$$ on that truck! ) but the computer tries to prevent it, and does fairly well. (Source: the 2021 Ranger FX4 sitting less than 10m from me. ;) )
I have a ‘12 WK2 Overland w/Hemi. It needs some protection upgrades, and different tires before I’d venture into the type of off-roading you guys do. I’ve taken other vehicles off-road before, but my WK2 is kinda’ my baby.
This is a great video, one of my favorite on youtube. Really shows the limits of what these vehicles can do. I've been eye balling a Honda Ridgeline, it drives like a car, has great handling and is super practical, and it does a surprisingly good job offroad, but I'd hate to go down a washed out road and have to turn around and cancel my vacation, so that is a deal breaker for the Ridgeline.
I love the Colorado, my brother in law has a ZR2 Bison and its a beast. But I trust in Ford reliability better...this video really sells me on the Ranger, which if I was buying today, Id take the Ranger.
IMO the Jeeps are the kings of the trail but I just dont trust Chrysler products.

4 cyl turbo 2.3L that's all they offer, the brand new 23 or 24 rangers have 3 different motors now if I remember right

He was stock height. Not sure what he did with the tires. And I think some upgrades coming in the form of rock rails

Those are a super reasonably priced tire. I'm looking for something a little larger, but may have to go for a couple inches of lift. Those Kendas are 31.6in in diameter; I like the tread pattern. Stock on the Ranger FX4 are Hankook Dynapro at 265/65/17, or 30.6in.
I also have rails and winch bumper, and a little more armor underneath. I don't run trails with a tremendous number of obstacles, just getting back country and crossing a few ditches and climbing a few steps a little more tire would be nice.

Did the person driving the stock Overland take damage? That didn't make your damage report. Just wondering because until my Skid Plates come in, that's what I'm driving.
The two completely stock vehicles in this one were the white trailhawk and Ford ranger. The grey Overland model had added skid plating which essentially brought her up to the same level of protection that the stock trailhawk has.
She had rock rails on hers as well as some underbelly protection. No damage to her rig. We modify lines and trails based on the folks that decide to come out with us.

Ranger's had a 2 1/2" front end lift and those ain't factory tires. So, not stock.
