  • The new Delicious Last Course is great! But I have some other things to say as well, along with the further existence of this "franchise." Enjoy!

I mean, if you're a Contra head and not a golden age animation head that likes games your perspective will be different I guess. I found the artbook and all the tidbits about animation far more fascinating that I think a game design doc would be.
Also it took them this long because this kind of animation takes time, which I know this isn't your wheelhouse, but it's not something to short sell either.

I don’t usually go for extra hard games, but Cuphead is an amazing exception that simply oozes style. Loving this DLC so far! Thanks for your thoughts.

I have to agree with you on the netflix show, and partially on the art v gameplay. I think its excellently done but there are times where I tunnel vision and dont pay much attention to the art because if I was paying any less attention to the game, I'd be losing. The netflix show looks fine I guess but really I couldn't care less about it's existence personally. Its okay, I suppose. I think the voice acting is grating and using "puppets" matches the style enough to not be too different but its at the same time, slightly unappealing????

2:53 To be honest, I'd say its a throwback to designs of games like Joe and Mac or Alien Soldier, where the focus IS on the boss fights while the actual stages are mainly just a basic transition to the next fight. I mean granted, Cuphead gives them more purpose through the gold coins and generally longer length, but they're still the weakest and least fun parts of the game by far, and I honestly MUCH prefer the King's battles as a way of earning them.

I totaly agree with the intro.. I was instantly sold on the game when the first gameplay was showed because of the handrawn old school art, and that it reminded me of a 90s arcade run n gun.. That's it.. It made me super hyped for the game and I would say I was fanboing both before and post launch.. But I never wanted more outside of the game.. As soon as I heard about the show I was like what is in the game that indicates it would be a cool show.. Street fighter getting anime i get, there is some story there.. but cuphead is get souls to not go to hell and if they wherent going to do a prince of dark water type show where they basicly retold the story of the game and not do it in the same artstyle then what is the point? I saw a few episodes.. I didn't like it..

Cuphead is great, I finally bought it on sale and played through it on Switch, but it feels like a full motion video game. It really feels like you're just interacting with a predetermined animation cycle that doesn't react to your actions. And yeah, forget all this franchise shit. Gaming has gotten way too big for it's own good.

Given the obvious run n gun influence, I’d say the secret boss is more inspired by Silhouette Mirage than Ikaruga.
Although, they’re both from Treasure, so maybe it’s the company MDHR are inspired by. 😁
