  • There are no sponsors and I get nothing for this, but here are the brake pads where we bought them.

I bought a 2022 Yamaha MT 07 abs new. After my First Ride review and first impression to see if it’s still worth owning in 2024 vs the Triumph Trident 660, Ktm 790 duke, Honda Hornet cb750 or 650, Kawasaki z650, Suzuki GSX-8S or GSX-8R. I’ve have had a Vstrom 650, Street triple 660, tracer 900 gt, triumph tiger 1050 abs and my wife’s SV650. I almost got a Tracer 9 gt plus + but for 3x the money and all the weight gain, all those electronics and over powered engine for Japanese roads, it’s not worth it. And there is just something about simple brakes, simple suspension, and cable throttle. I’ve add cruise control from MCcruise to have a bit of luxury. I wasn’t going to get a bigger, more expensive, less useable bike just for cruise control, I also like veridian cruise and will look at them for a ride by wire bike I’m concidering. The bike has a euro 5 ZARD exhaust muffler that is plenty loud without being as obnoxious as sc project or arrow and passes road inspection like leo vince to be street legal here in Japan. 車検okマフラーオーケー. I’ve added ebc double-h sintered break pads that were definitely worth it. It has kyb kayaba suspension for the rear shock and hyperpro street box with the progressive front fork spring for a slip easy install in cartridge kit on a budget. Adjustable levers, rear sets, handgrards, and bar end mirrors were nice littles add-ons. And basic amazon case covers, axle sliders, dayton frame sliders, and custom tayler 33 reflective rim tape all in black and gold for protection. And of course my micro mini blinkers and siquential leds in the Rear with a nice tail tidy that was much cheaper than a brand like Yoshura or akrapovic. I’ve aslo had a bagster comfort seat, that I had to sell and now like the oem comfortseat but would love the Corbin or sargent seats. The puig windscreen knock off is great, no buffeting for a windshield and I love my custom paint job.
This may still be the best light weight naked bike for the money.

Good points regarding the breaking performance. Best brakes are not always the right brakes.

i always thought the MT-07 was a great bike, years later after getting my license I had a chance to ride the first gen and it felt like the junkiest, cheapest piece of crap I ever sat on. Fearings creaking, buttons, controls made from cheap plastic and rust, there wasn't anything that felt like a quality piece of equipment on it - it was a cheap bike. But now it isn't as cheap now there are other options that offer a better quality, more features and are priced similarly or bit higher and the MT-07 is not as attractive as it used to be. The GSX-8S is a gem and if I wasn't going for the 2024 MT-09 I would definietly get one.

I’m contemplating on putting some on my 2022 Tracer 9 GT on the front. My Ducati Monster has better bite, but it also has stainless braided brakelines.

The lines made a bigger difference.
But these are a cheaper, easier way to get very close.

I'll definitely go for upgraded brake pads on my next service.
You're totally right about japanese brands not providing enough. I mean, Transalp doesn't have cruise control...for real. 😮

The cost of tubless wheels for Honda over the standard is only $300 since they already make them for the A.T.
      Stupid.

when i upgraded the brakes on my fz6r back in the day, it was an eye opener. same with the bolt. couldn't believe how much more confident I was when coming into turns.
the tigers brakes are like galaxies better than those two combined, but the long suspension means lotsa dive. can stop the bike on a friggin dime, but that front end is movin!

I'm looking to get the transalp in the near future, wondering if I should get Break pads from day 1. The new tiger 900 is pretty perfect but I don't wanna give any money to triumph

@@kairyurider not sure about the Transalp. It is a price point motorcycle, so I would imagine they cut a few corners. I would check out big rock moto or dork in the road. They both have been doing extensive testing on it

@YankiRides I've seen there stuff. I was a mechanic for yamaha tokyo and a custom builder before that so I don't mind sorting out Hondas "cost savings" for such a quails over all package plus reliability.
And it's 45% cheaper than the tiger here in japan😅
So I'll have some wiggle room for the mods

    Hello Mister Kairyu Rider.
Thank you for the informative Video.
Seeing you are a distinguished gentleman yourself, also riding a MT07 and modding it, I've got a pretty degenerate question, please do not judge me.
A while ago I saw a MT07 with a Speedometer-Protector that had an anime girl etched into the background.
It offered protection and is barely visible in sunlight, but visible when the LCD is on.
It's kind of a meme but it thought it's so hilarious, I gotta have it.
Have you seen those screen protectors? I've been looking for them all over the internet but haven't found anything.
I'd be willing to DIY it.

Sorry, this is the first I'm hearing of it
