I practically keep the show running constantly in my room, and lately one of his lines keeps popping into my head randomly. From Mac is a Serial Killer, when Charlie tells Frank, "You can't just torture somebody because you think they're guilty", and Frank goes, "Oh, don't give me that liberal bullsh!t."
Can you imagine it from their point of view. Their show, that had been their personal project for years, was about to be cancelled and they were literally given, by their employers, the choice between axing the show or hiring a-star actor danny devito who had personally indicated his will to contribute to the one-season show. And then they obviously choose to continue the program by bringing him in and he immediately vibes with them and adds to it in fundamental ways and it grows to the next level. Man it's so good how it all turned out. Literally struck gold by having creative showwriters all in the flow of a creative moment and in coordination with each other and then adding the massive boon of an a-list actor who vibes with them all creatively... And now 18 years later it's been each of their main projects. For massive portions of their lives.

One thing I noticed about sunny when I watched it through the 2nd time was how good they all are at acting when someone else is speaking. I feel a lot of sitcoms miss that realistic touch to group interactions

What amazes me about Danny is that despite his age, his comedy feels very fresh. He may not be using the lingo and all that, but he just jumped on a podcast with people 35 years younger than him and he was mixing it up. And what he was saying was funny, interesting, and didn't feel out of touch. He gets it.
Yeah, i think many legendry actors his age want to appear cool and dignified. And they just end up being boring. Danny's truly DNGAF. Completely down for whatever regardless of how he appears on screen. My zoomer housemate and I constantly quote: "Suicide is Badass".
He accepted that he’s short and fat and he just decided to be himself instead of trying to be attractive. He became the trash man because somebody has to do it

I met Danny about 15 years ago at a theater I worked at in Hollywood. Before I got into watching Always Sunny. He was a fantastic guy. Very friendly.
Charlie and Danny's relationship is everything I've ever hoped for.

Its always Sunny is like the sitcom equivalent of a great band who kept to their guns, never sold out, gained a cult following and are stll releasing total bangers.
Danny's mannerisms and his storytelling is so similar to my dad's that I always have to do a double-take. He's a true treasure.

Something Danny really brings to the show is his "background" acting. When that gang is doing some weird shit, singing a song etc. just watch him - often playing along "pretending" he's been part of the joke for years, but clearly not knowing what's actually happening. It's really brilliantly done, and it's got it just be his instincts as a great actor

Coming out of the couch naked had me on the floor still when I see it kills me...but there are so many of Frank .... perfect cast absolutely perfect all the guests are perfect... definitely one reason why it has lasted so long...I watch the bloopers all the time just looks like so much fun....I'm old enough to remember watching Taxi with my dad and so many movies he had done that because of Danny made it good....
Danny and Rhea's treatment of the girl who played Matilda, and her family, is one of the most wholesome things I ever heard 2 celebrities do.

She grew up with undiagnosed OCD and ADHD, then after her Mum encouraged her to do Matilda because it was a story they both loved her Mum died from cancer during filming and never got to see it. She was 8.
He should have won Best Director for that film, it was one of my favorites as a kid, and I've seen it since and it holds up. Great camera work, great acting, wonderful classic story from Roald Dahl.

I saw Danny at Coachella in 2007 coming out of the crowd after Kings of Leon. I was sitting on the grass smoking on a joint. He gives me a big smile. I tip my joint in his honor. It was a cool moment.

I love how Danny never let himself be type cast into a certain type of character throughout his career, He's got such range and has never been affraid to try something new. It's amazing to know just how much he loves Sunny and how much he loves playing Frank. Danny is such a jewel and we're so lucky to be alive to experience this show and to experience these decades of success of Mr DeVito. Rob saying "there's a voice i grew up with" really hit the nail on the head. Danny has been in tv shows, movies, and voiced countless characters from my childhood, into my adolescences, and now in my adulthood. Not many actors you can say that about.

Danny is soo amazing I can tell these guys have such a bond with him, an ya can almost tell he is really the father of the crew who whole heartedly cares for these guys on an off stage. Low key favorite episode is being frank next to the suburbs episode, Love you guys can’t wait till season 16!
yeah there’s one vid where he does one of those “finish the google search” things and he talks about these boys like they’re his family and it’s the most wholesome thing ever. brought a tear to my eye

Frank Reynolds is one of the greatest characters ever created and no one could have elevated it to the level that Danny did.
The Frank “you unzipped me” scene has always been my favourite from the show and seeing them all crying with laughter at it was the most satisfying thing for me
Danny trying to bang his wife's sister at her Husband's funeral and tricking the gang into it by saying they're going to a barbecue is my favourite. Just the most incredibly funny, dark and absurd scene ever.

Every interview I have seen with Danny has shown that he is extremely well versed in Sunny lore and clearly enjoys making it. You almost never see that in the industry

You can tell this guys ad lib and have chemistry on the show. Their genuinely hilarious when they just talk as a group

A Group of five people that blend perfectly. What a great show!
ridiculously rare too. So many stories about golden shows wherein the main stars despise each other. All these guys are just friends who love and support one another.
De Vito was a huge blessing for the show and it’s audience, but he truly blessed those three guys the most. Imagine putting yourself in their shoes, three best friends who decided to come up with this show that ends up attracting De Vito and boom, just like that, not only is you guys creation being performed by one of the elite comedians that have ever graced the camera. You also become best friends with Danny De Vito. You, and your two best friends become incredibly close with him. A delightful and truly transcending person, their love for this guys shines right through their glances
Danny is like your grandpa where you ask him one question and he talks for 20 minutes and by the end you’re not sure how he got to where he was but you enjoyed it
These are the men I befriended in my teens....I can't explain it but we enjoyed talking about philosophy and funny human patterns.
The cold opening of Frank dangling on the noose while the gang proceeds to not give a crap is the funniest thing I've ever seen on TV.
I didn't know I could care about somebody as much as I care about Danny Devito without having actually met the man. I absolutely love him. He's just the personification of awesome. I actually get really depressed when I think that he's 78 now. The world will be a much darker place the day it loses Danny Devito. I remember watching Batman Returns when I was like 5 or 6 and his performance as Oswald Cobblepot scared the crap out of me, in a good way. So many movies and shows from my childhood will always hold a special place in my heart because of Danny. Amazing episode guys. I know the character of Frank Reynolds is supposed to be grotesque at times but I still find him such a loveable and strangely wholesome character. You guys are all legends but I hope you know how lucky you are to have gotten to work with him.

I’m just going to say that Danny Divito is an absolute legend for all he had done but he will always be The Penguin and he will always be Frank Reynold! He was the perfect casting to join always sunny
