@@Voidmoney It took more than a decade, but Ultima Online emulators now are reaching levels way beyond what the original engine was capable of, graphics have been modernized without visually changing the game, etc etc etc to a point us oldies aren't even embarrassed any more to show the game to younger people, I hope Asheron's Call follows the same road, and preferably quicker, because AC really deserves to reach another generation of gamers.
@@DutchFurnace Yeah! the lack of graphic upgrades have been real rough, but I'm still enjoying it. Great to here UO is still going as well... might have to do some videos on that some day too.
My first MMO, played from 1999 to 2006 on Leafcull. I can still feel the excitement and adulation when I solo'd the Olthoi Queen, and saw the global server-wide announcement proclaiming my characters name. Good times..

This is the greatest MMO of all time and there isn’t even a close second. Darktide from 1999-2006ish may have been the most ruthless pvp ever in existence and I’ve played many MMO’s and compared them all to Asherons call and none of them are remotely close to Asherons calls greantess…man did I take this game for granted in its hay day. What an amazing game.
Oh buddy, this takes me back. I played for so long. Fast-casting mage PVP in Asheron's Call is still the highlight of any competitive gaming I've had since, and chatting with people while grinding in dungeons was just a daily thing.
I used to love the territory controlling on Darktide... it was such a natural biproduct of the game's features, but not presented in an intentional or forced way. Had a very organic, and tense dynamic.
@@Voidmoney Absolutely true, it was such a unique experience that was really pioneered by the players through the game itself. We used to fight to control Ayan and the lifestone for hours! Darktide really was something special.

I was the highest level tinkerer on my server when I last played., had so many sik's , shards and ingots that I was tinkering for free, but nothing sticks in my memory more than getting my first matty hide robe. The good old days.
This is an extraordinary achievement. Taking the packets from the game in the closing time of the game, and reverse engineering the game from that point to interact correctly with the client. And then to implement quests, just amazing!
Ah Solclaim... my first mmorpg and one of my favorites. I have played for over a year on the private server Coldeve. Well run and stable, with active guilds to join.
I never forget when we had to learn the spells with candle collor and i finally had all the 7ens. Good times... Hey please make it again just up to date .... ASAP thanks enjoy
The PVP in this game is such a blast. I first heard of the game from Reckful (RIP), ended up putting a year into Asherons Call as a total newb, loved it so much.

Nothing like it. Most fun I have ever had gaming. Started on Darktide, Ended on Darktide. What a game. O_o
I tried posting in one of their discords asking how to download and run the game and was greeted with "I'm not gonna hold your hand through the process, figure it out on your own noob".. like wtf, yeah i really wanna join a toxic server like that... I miss the game, but not that part lol this was like 4 years ago, so I dont remember which server it was, but thank you for this information! i may actually give it a try now! I played on darktide back in the day, and the pvp aspect of the game (in my opinion) was ruined when they added housing. I loved the fact that it was the only game where you were never safe, could always be attacked, and guilds fought over lifestones and leveling territories. That was the game to me, and that all went away when they added housing. Do you know if there are any pvp servers that don't have housing? AKA pre-Dark Majesty?
Dekarutide is Dark Majesty (not pre), that's the closest I know of. But yeah, some people in this community are pretty unhelpful, but I wouldn't say they represent the community as a whole. Most people want to see the game succeed and thrive. Unfortunately those sorts of people tend to be the loudest, in both the real and virtual worlds. FYI Qual bar or cue bar the goodendum town in the south lugane outpost is directly north of the road Walk North Uptown to the tent on the right side of the road turn east follow forward you ll find a life zone keep going up that valley to the Lugain Citadel Beware all Lou Gaines in Citadel now have hollow rocks

Is the coldeye server on like 10x xp or something? I have little interest in doing the whole kill 1,000 goblins for one level thing in another game. Considering this as a project gorgon alternative
I had the weirdest problem. The Thwarglauncher installer did nothing. I tried running it as an Admin, and nothing that way either. Like, it didn't even try to install anything... I wonder if it's a Windows 11 thing. :(
Nope, Literally nothing happens. :( It's as though I wasn't clicking on anything at all. Even right clicking and trying to run in Admin mode, nothing happens. Nothing opens, nothing pops up.
That sucks. I've been doing a little bit of research when I have time to see if I can find a solution to your problem; either playing without Thwarg, or finding a workaround. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I did find a few other client launchers that allow you to enter in private servers, but I haven't gotten any of them to work yet... I'm hoping I can find something that works though -- I hate to see anybody have problems playing this game when they want to.

I pressed launch on thwarglauncher then the old Ac login screen comes up. I put in a username and passwordthen pressed launch or next. Then i get the error after 30 sec .
I am getting an "account name is not valid message" I was wanting to play Levistras and Coldeve, if it needs me to remember my old user and PW from years ago theres no chance, is there any way to reset this and start on a fresh account for levistras and coldeve? Edit: I was actually able to get into Coldeve but now I am having resolution issues, game is closing out with direct X 9 message.
I played some awhile ago, and almost every one was botting, is that still the case? Are their any with servers with slower leveling? I missed that, or at least I think I missed that and admit I would probably hate it pretty quickly lol
Levistras has no botting but is still end of retail so pretty quick pace with leveling. Dekarutide is an older patch but PVP. Otherwise I haven't played anything outside of Coldeve
I would like to find an app that allows me to voice chat such as discord or if anybody you or anybody knows a discord channel that I has a active community I would appreciate it if you could post it in a upcoming astronaut video you produce or read a comment with some anybody that has information to help me lol that s not astronaut that s Asheron s call once again being blind this is all done through speech and not text sorry folks
please do not play music on your videos tell people they can play their own music that way it s personalized videos that play music 10 to alienate those that don t prefer that type of music or prefer to hear your commentary as well as the background sounds and combat sounds Look at AC videos that use music montages and no commentary very low views

@@Voidmoney Check UO Outlands specifically. That's the biggest server there is, and has a couple of (small) dedicated youtubers/streamers.

Yeah, the official servers were shut down, so you have to start over from scratch on a private server.

Not on 10x XP, but there are plenty of easy quests that give big bulk XP if you want to power level without a stupid grind.
They are doing a remake of asherons call 2 in unreal but it's not the full game yet found that on Facebook groups.
There's an emulator of AC2 out as well. Was saving that for a video later because the engine still needs a lot of work. Might be my 1000 sub video.
Does anyone know if it's possible to play AC2 in 2023? That was my first MMO and I'd love to play it again!
