    Basic Autopilot only has adaptive cruise control and lane keeping. Enhanced AutoPilot has automatic lane changes and navigates on Autopilot. It does the driving from on-ramp to off-ramp. FSD does most of the driving on city streets.

      @williamrogers1219 does standard autopilot do a lane change on the highway for you if you signal?

    • @floffy3905
      @floffy3905 Před 2 dny

      @@davidk7849it does not, you have to change lanes manually and it will turn off autosteer for you, but it keeps on the adaptive cruise control. Once you are done with the lane change you can turn autosteer back on

    Ok so regular autopilot can change lane on the highway by itself when you push the turn signal stalk now? That's great.

    The subscription is now $99 a month. I'm going to try it. If I need it I will use the subscription and then when I don't need it I'll just cancel it.

    Did any of the FSD improvements trickled down to Enhanced Autopilot or even Basic Autopilot?

    • @wingsmobiledetailing
      @wingsmobiledetailing  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Excellent question. Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case. While I could be mistaken, based on my observations, aspects like road awareness, lane changes during merges, passing a truck while staying in the far end of the lane, and notably, abrupt stops in highway traffic is much improved, or don't happen at all with Full Self-Driving (FSD) only. Interestingly, these harsh highway stop-and-go, among other things still occur with Enhanced Autopilot.
      The biggest reason I find it worth to have FSD is not much about the additional features, but rather because it indeed drives a lot better overall.

    It was my understanding that Basic autopilot did not include Auto Lane Change like you demonstrate at 10:44. Are you in the US?

    • @andremezalira

      The regular autopilot does not change lanes automatically, while the Enhanced autopilot does so automatically following the GPS and passing cars. Yes, this was filmed in the United States.

      @justdigit Před 4 měsíci

      True! Regular auto pilot does not change the lane for you. I know because that's what i have. I also tried FSD for a month, but i don't think it's worth the price.

    I have only the basic Auto Pilot with my Tesla EV and will only stay with that feature. I don't need to spend another 6k or 15k dollars for EAP or FSD - ridiculous. I don't need them in my driving needs. I only drive around town or just go out on local roads. I have no need for auto lane changing that EAP provides. FSD is a joke. Why do I need this just to do short trips around town.
    Basic Auto Pilot and the Cruise control features are just fine for me.
    End of story.

    • @coolbart66
      @coolbart66 Před 4 měsíci +3

      For your use-case, absolutely agree. However, I have had FSD for a year and half now and it is no joke. Drove from NJ To Florida and back. Only 3 disengagements each way. It was an absolute pleasure having the car doing the driving end-to-end for me and takes a lot of the stress off of driving, particularly in complex interchanges and urban areas where you don't know where you're going.

      It's a use case thing. You just thinking me, me, me, me. There are so many ppl who can benefit from it. Ppl with Parkinson. Parents with young kids who are screaming all the time, old people who have difficulty driving, younger drivers who do no t have the best judgement. Think beyond yourself.

      My mom has mild cerebral palsy and has always been told she will never be able to drive because her motor skills struggle . She is fully capable in daily life but her reaction times can be delayed . But I hope in a few years with this technology improving she will be able to drive with self driving and practice 🫶🏽 this would be life changing for my mom
