Mr Smith famous quote, “never in a thousand years”
Here’s the full quote, which has always been squashed.
“I have said before, and I repeat, we are prepared to bring black people into our Government to work with us. I think we have got to accept that in the future Rhodesia is a country for black and white, not white as opposed to black and vice versa. I believe this is wrong thinking for Rhodesia.
We have got to try to get people to change their line of thinking if they are still thinking like that. This is outdated in Rhodesia today. I don’t believe in majority rule ever in Rhodesia… not in 1,000 years. I repeat that I believe in blacks and whites working together. If one day it is white and the next day black I believe we would have failed and it will be a disaster for Rhodesia.”
How right he was.the Marxist leftwing mentality that was trying to devour the world, and is still trying to day, decades later, twisted the facts.
History and present day Zimbabwe show the truth....
Scince the death of this great man, many people have realised how right he was, he had an insight that has become reality. Just look at the violence in Kenya today.

I have been looking at the history of Zimbabwe lately, out of interest, & I find Mr Ian Smith an outstanding politician. He had proven himself right in the course of history. I also admire his ability to keep his counsel after the new government was formed. He also asked his followers not to criticise the new government. I pay my personal tribute to him too. I am of Asian background living in Hong Kong in the 70s when he was in power. Look at Zimbabwe today, where are the great leaders?

Black farmers are producing and economy is picking up, every change is shock to the system, over a little time, stability comes in
Ian Smith saw a soon to be independent African like Hong Kong became in 1997, then he rebelled as his masters British govt and formed white minority rule, simply means white own the means of production, (land, labour, resources), indigenous Blacks are their servants.
You won't accept that in Hongkong? would you?

Steve Carter The big problem with what’s going on now is that those good men and women who are defenders of the truth are still being beaten by those who wish to destroy it and I believe it’s because those who value the truth don’t value power as well and those who want to destroy the truth value power. The right has value to the truth for the past 50 years But it hasn’t valued power anywhere near as much and look at where that got us there are many people in the right who have the potential to be like Ian Smith but are to scared to do so, whereas the lying Marxist have prioritised power above everything else and they’ve been rather successful in doing so they have made so many people in the population too scared to stand up for themselves while the Marxist destroy our nations in our way of life
More people in the right need to be like Ian Smith and value the truth and use it to seize power before it’s too late

Being a teenager in Canberra in the 70s, Rhodesia was part of the news background. Recently I have been fascinated with the videos about Rhodesia on CZcams. I find it striking how similar the Australian and Rhodesian landscapes are, and how similar Salisbury looked to Canberra, although Salisbury was bigger and more of a commercial centre. The same building styles, the pencil cypresses and eucalypts, the statues and war memorials and neatly tended gardens, the clear dry air, the blue skies. The soldiers, boys or men only a few years older than me, all looking like we could have gone to the same school, fighting a war. When I was at primary school, the boys finishing sixth form at the attached secondary school were liable for the draft, for Vietnam. I hope people from Rhodesia have found a familiar home-from-home here.

    rupert81,
I agree with your comments. The SADC and other African leaders are spineless too. On the fantasy note, wouldn't it be nice, if once the 'old man' has been ousted, all the squandered funds and monies could be repatriated. This money would go a long way to helping rebuild God's own country.

Perhaps it's also helpful to wonder what would have happened had white Rhodesians been less racist and more inclusive. For it was the white supremacy sustaining a racially tiered society with whites at the top that fuelled black revolution. The truth is that the ruin of Zimbabwe is as much the result of the incompetence of Zanu-PF which took over the country (rather than black pple as a race) as well as the intransigence of white Rhodesians that made revolution necessary and a Zanu government possible.

    • @stevoutubo
      @stevoutubo  Před 5 lety +2

Chofamba Sithole , I would never blame the black people for the failure of the country. That would also be racist, and incorrect. I blame the regime who came in like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and ended up causing more pain and suffering to tho local people, both black and white, but mostly to the same people they promised to free from colonialism. White Rhodesians were less harm to the population than the ZANU PF dictatorship. In time, the racial playing field would or could have been leveled, and once the blacks were more prepared to take control, then as Smith himself said, the correct person for the job, regardless of color could have ruled the country. History has proved that this was a premature move.

*I repeat that I believe in blacks and whites working together. If one day it is white and the next day black I believe we would have failed and it will be a disaster for Rhodesia*.” - Ian Douglas Smith
