  • Centrally located in Centre County Pennsylvania, State College isn’t your run of the mill college town. It’s located within an hours drive to some of the top limestone spring influenced trout streams in the entire state. On this episode, we tackle two of the best, the Little Juniata River and Penns Creek. Prior to the Land Grant Act and establishment of Pennsylvania State University, State College was an agricultural community and also engaged in the iron furnace industry. As far as architecture, there are some well maintained commercial and religious buildings in town, not mention the beautiful and historic campus buildings from the late 1800 and early 1900’s. Please join me today as we fish, explore, and embrace our very next Trout Town in State College, Pennsyvlania.

    Another spot burner

      Disagree. Penns and Little Juniata are widely known. Guidebooks, articles, pre-existing videos, etc. You're allowed to say where you're fishing. I don't mention small trib names anymore, but chill with the spot burning allegations.

    Try Pine Creek North of there past Williamsport. I thought I saw Pine Creek flowing in the PA grand canyon at the start of this video.

      You definitely saw the PA Grand Canyon in the opening. I'm working on an Wellsboro episode with Big Pine Creek and a tributary. It's my favorite place to fish and hike in all of Pennsylvania. Family has a cabin up there - love that area. Thanks for watching!

      I’ve been trying to explore more pa water and want to hit the yellow breeches and I know boiling springs is probably the most popular area but do you have any spots that are a little less pressured on the breeches?

      Upstream from Weikert in the State Forest area. Definitely worth checking out. Try to go on a weekday or off season as it can get crowded in peak season.

    I'm not sure I understand the thought behind skipping spring creek. Two legends of trout, Harvey and Humphreys both gave PSU instruction on it. The paradise is more famous for fishing than penns and j combined. The tales of trout unlimited attempting to reintroduce the green drake after water quality issues. Man you missed a gold mine.

    • @TravelingTroutCo
      @TravelingTroutCo  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I hear you man, I struggled with where to put Spring Creek since it is adjacent to State College but flows directly through the heart of Bellefonte. Ultimately I covered Spring during my Bellefonte episode (Trout Towns Episode 2). I’m a big fan of central PA and it’s limestone spring influenced streams and appreciate the rich fly fishing history too. Thanks for checking out the video and dropping a comment!
