I this video, I show you how I began Building a Bike Cave in our new shed! We spent a lot of time trying to configure the best use of space in order to come up with the perfect DIY MTB Workspace to fit our needs. Like all bike caves, this project isn't fully completed yet, but its done for now. We still need to build a bike rack system, configure some form of gear storage, and continue to add to the tool collection as time goes on.

Very nice! Love the barn wood wall. When I set out to build my shop on one side of my garage, it was the HoA and covenants that got in the way. Garage workshops were forbidden in an attempt to make people parkin the garage instead of the driveway, and I did own two cars at the time. So I ended up building a bench that folded up against the wall, which allowed me to pull in that second car when needed. Problem solved!
yaaasss we need more workshop videos
I'm a pro bike mechanic, first off, nicely done!!! I've built a bunch of shops over the decades. Those benches are legit! Pro tip, stain the tops and fronts of the benches, it will make it clean up in the future far far easier. You can make your own stain from vinegar, steel wool and coffee if you want to be frugal. Get a bench mat, like the ones they have fun firearms, Shimano and Sram have finally started making them. It'll make the space look more professional and save your bench from long term wear. I would also find a piece of aluminum plate to screw onto the bench when you need to pound on things. This will save the wood from being destroyed. I don't use steal because typically bike parts will bend or be destroyed by a harder metal. The bench you put your vice on, make sure it's solidly bolted to the wall. When trying to get out stuck bottom brackets or seat posts, the leverage of the frame will move the whole bench before the stuck part will break free. You can also build a sound proof box for your compressor, run a small pipe from the box to the outside and seal it with calk, you can even put an air filter on it to reduce the amount of crud your compressor collects. It's a nice option when you're working in a confined space and it will help protect your hearing. Get lots of lighting, I can't stress this enough, proper lighting not only helps with shooting video but being able to see everything clearly and accurately makes repairs go much faster. Keep at it, I seriously admire and respect that you admitted when you didn't know quite how to do something and owned it. Good mechanics and good riders own their mistakes, I was taught excellent mechanics share their knowledge. Rising tides floats all boats so to speak. Keep after it, I'm excited to see what else you do!
Agree with everything written above. I would consider running electrical in the space between the wall and the barnboard. Always seems there is something or other to plug in.
I’ll keep that in mind! We just bought a house and will be building out a much bigger shop in a future video! 🤘🏼
This is so good, I can really see this channel growing into a well known mountain biking community!
First thing for me would be a repair stand of some sort. And I’d put some type of finish on the benches or they’re going to look grimy really quick. Great build, looking forward to more videos! Subbed.
👍Now I see the stand off to the side in the final shots. I have found it pretty handy to have a computer monitor mounted up above the bench. When I’m fixing a bike or a motorcycle it is really handy to be able to see manuals/diagrams or videos on a screen bigger than my phone. Nice job!
repair stand is a 100% must, I also have my work benchs on castors so I can move the layout easily.
@@TheShredShedMTB it's pretty useful at times! Here's me starting my shop, the video is do rough! I really need to do an update video to it. czcams.com/video/qsrZEub_GyQ/video.html
That is a proper looking shred shed! Really cool seeing it all come together. Happy building man
I built a custom bench to hold two eight drawer tool chests. I have a window on the wall my bench is up against, so no pegboard tool porn. It's all in lots of skinny drawers. I did plywood bench top but will switch to MDF one day (maybe never). Stereo and dorm fridge, and a sweet vintage beer brand clock (so I don't forget to go home). Mounted my truing stand on a board I can clamp when in use, and push back when not. Wished I could bolt the repair stand to the floor, but I have to move it out of the way to get a car in there. Isopropal alcohol in a spray bottle, grease in a gun, and a vice grip style chain whip are my faves.
Amazing Bike Cave bro it looks amazing!!
"Idk what I am doing" you remind me of myself when I am not sure what to do, great content and you got a new subscriber.
Welcome! Glad to have you 🤘🏼
Fantastic man cave👍 , all the best rob
I miss it 😭 we recently moved, but have a much bigger shop build in the works 😎

Nice video and hello from Europe Bosnia And Hercegovina 🇧🇦
Dude this is so cool!
Thanks man! I miss it 😢 can wait to build something similar at the new place
I would place The Air compressor outside in an insulated box, to avoid The noise from it. I also Think that a pretty huge stereo and a flatscreen is a must have☺️
Nice workspace. Now time for some speakers, a tv/shop computer and some more lighting!
Well done video and the shed looks great!
That would be nice with a fridge in there and hot drink making facilities
😎👍

Nice work. Id say the addition of sticks and banners on a wall (not barn wood) or tool box.
Looks great. Surprised you don’t have more than 1.8k subs
Thanks man! Ironically, I only had about 400 when I made this video 😂
@@TheShredShedMTB nice! Great content. Just came across your channel. Fortunately for some reason (been watching lots of Seth’s vids I guess) CZcams just recommended this vid to me. I’m in MN. Nice to see the Midwest represented
Awesome! Glad you like it! Feel free to stick around if you’d like, I’ve got a lot more content in the pipeline 😏
iam 200th subscriber (p.s. i love mountain biking and your content :))
Given that you opened the video talking about snow i would have thought lining the shed with insulation would have been a good start?
Go get a 8' strip light in 4000 or 5000k. Can never have enough light.
Nice video!!!!!!
yeah! 🤘
Good work!
Thanks!
A blue-roll holder and blue roll, I bought one off amazon the other day but it cost thirty bucks in English money 💰
You talking about blue shop towels? If so, got it on the wall 🤘🏼
