    Great video - I now live in Darwin Australia but I used to regularly ride from Bradford north to Silsden or south to Leeds on the cycle track next to the canal. Shifted from Bradford to Darwin in May of this year. The countryside from Bradford to Silsden, particularly after the Bingley 5 Rise was chocolate box beautiful! I can advise from 8:38 where you went under the bridge that the "track" has been replaced by a proper riding and walking path to Silsden where it reverts back to just being a track:)

    Great video. We've just returned from our holiday on the Leeds and Liverpool canal and we made it to Saltaire as planned. Unfortunately the wait to get on the 5 rise and the time it then took to go through the locks meant we didn't have time to get off! So today when we returned the boat and drove to Saltaire. Salt Mill was great, fantastic shopping, thanks!!

      Hi Sylvia, thanks. Glad that you enjoyed your trip and managed to get back to Saltaire,. Did you enjoy the 5 rise despite having to wait?

      It's A Narrowboat Thing l agree that number of locks is very tiring and we would not be wishing to prepare our own either, well done

    I've seen the the Bingley 5 + 3 from many different views, but your aerial shots would be the best I've seen. Keep up the great work - all the way to Liverpool?

    I watched it twice before commenting because of all the great shots I had to see again! Love this video! The plaque says it's the steepest set of locks in Britain and I can believe it with that first shot of the 5 locks. That hill is Massive!
    I love the drone footage too to get a great view of the surrounding area and how the canal and a highway cuts through a village with it's nice houses and fields.
    One question from watching those leaky gates, do you get a lot of water in the bow of the boat you have to take care of? or are there holes for it to drain out?
    Thanks again for the great video, till next time!

    • @ItsANarrowboatThing
      @ItsANarrowboatThing  Před 7 lety

      Hi there, thanks for stopping by! For the first few days all we seemed to do is climb higher and higher, at least once we'd got to the top of the 5 rise we were at the top and there were no more locks!
      The drone footage is great for seeing what lies beyond the canal and how they fit into the surrounding countryside, hopefully in the future we'll be able to share more footage.
      And yes, the boat gets a soaking with the leaky gates. Thankfully there are drainage holes but you do have to remember to keep the front doors closed ;-)
      Glad you enjoyed the video and as ever thank you for your comment!

    properties that abut the canals must command high prices , anywhere in the world ,properties with water views are expensive .

      We passed some lovely properties with beautiful gardens, some with their own moorings too!
