My GK two was my first resin printer. I got the full kit with the ultrasonic & curing station. I absolutely love it. The only thing I've ran into in the past 2 months... I just wish I had about 2" more on the build plate! Lol. Same goes for the ultrasonic & cure machine. I just wish they were a bit bigger.
Also, just to share mt experience for anyone that reads this - like I mentioned, this was my first printer. I had watched a ton of videos beforehand so that definitely played a part but I was unboxed and printing within 15m. I had my first real print completely successful with all defaults using phrozen resin within an hour. Simple at every step is a valid slogan.

From what I can tell, they're throwing the wifi adapters into boxes post packaging of most of the printers, as a change during production they wanted to push out to as many customers as possible. So some of them get more than one, because probably they don't track which ones got an adapter as closely as one might like.
For example, I reached out to their support when I broke a set of tank clips(those spare clips in the box), and my unit had been packed prior to them including them in the printer box, so at no cost to me, support sent me a new set of tank clips, not only to replace the ones I'd broken, but also to ensure I had the normal stock of extra tank clips that their newer units would have.

I think you need to take the build plate off before you take out the vat.
it was torture to watch you clean the vat out while you can see the resin dripping straight on the screen.

1 huge plus for the GKTwo is the heating in very cold regions. I spend about half the year at or under freezing and the anycubic heater just cant handle it. I think the difference is it is heating the enclosure and the top layer were the GKTwo is heating the bottom layer of the vat and that seems to be the important part. I have only had the GKTwo for about a month now but it seem significantly more consistent in very cold temps. That difference was well worth the extra money for me. Very good comprehensive review.

pretty sure when they said that "this is just a backup" they meant the levelling kit was a backup in case the pre-levelling was off, not that the pre-levelling was just a backup. I do think it's worth trying a printer that is pre-levelled as it comes out of the box first, rather than levelling first, to test how good their pre-levelling is. Especially as I've seen other reviews where they found the pre-levelling was fine. A printer that generally doesn't need levelling out of the box is something that would benefit people (if done right), so def a claim that should be tested imo.

Another thing that makes me wonder about that vat design is that whenever you remove the vat you are dragging your release film across the screen, potentially introducing scratches, especially if any dust gets under there. As someone who takes great care in never touching the release film with anything that might scratch it, that would be a concern for me.

You can see on the carbon filter holder that it has two vents, one that pulls in from the printer and one that exhausts back into the printer. Which is ideal.
You can't judge a resin from the vat cleaning function because it tends to over-expose on purpose to make sure it's got a thick layer to peel up.

    • @petercallison5765
      @petercallison5765 Před 2 měsíci

I genuinely appreciate your candid and thorough reviews. As a new subscriber to your channel, I encourage you to continue providing honest and valuable insights.
In reference to the M5s Pro, I encountered a printing issue where a print detached from the supports during the printing process. The printer promptly notified me of a "zero release error." The wifi dongle used to be a paid addon. As of not that long ago all new GK two's come with the wifi dongle in the box. Maybe thats why you got 2? Idk, I couldn't imagine a printer without wifi now though. I set it up as a network drive on my PC and after slicing I just drag and drop onto the internal storage of the GK two. Now I just wish I could start the print remotely too. After having my Bambu P1S I'm spoiled. Being able to find something I want to print while at work and then starting it with the app and having it be completed and sitting on my build plate when I get home is just the greatest thing ever.

Watching you clean the vat was a horror show lol. Its my least favourite thing to have to do as well but jeez, you made it more of a task than it should be.
You pulled the vat first letting the build plate drip resin all over the screen. Then you squeeged the fep and vat with the plastic scraper and mopped up with paper towel. Yikes! 101 on how to wreck your fep right there.
Ideal method allows you to minimise contact with the fep as much as possible.
To easily remove the sheet of resin after a vat clean without touching the fep, place a raft with supports from a previous print in the corner of the vat then run the vat clean. To remove the resin sheet pull on the supports sticking out of the resin to lift the corner and peel the sheet out of the vat.
To clean the residual resin out of the vat use a silicon spatula (Woolies, Coles, 2 dollar shop) instead of the plastic scraper as it won't scratch the fep.
Then to remove the remaining resin from the vat use a silicon basting brush with alcohol in the vat to work the resin into solution with the a alcohol. Drain, then while the vat is tilted spray alcohol, starting at the top, and push all the residual alcohol / resin down to the spout on the vat so it drains out.
Vat should now be clean and you can dry with a non scratch microfiber cloth.
This will cause the fep to take on a static charge and attract dust and fibres to the fep surface. Use some painters masking tape to remove any dust and fibres from the fep and LCD.
Place vat back on printer and your good to go.

    Love ya work mate.
re. Reviews vs first impressions - I agree with you, most products have things we don't like about them, but the real question is how easy the limitations are to work around which is something that comes with using the machine. Does the company offer regular firmware updates? How well do they respond to warranty claims etc. These are important things to know and aren't answered in a "quick" review.
BTW, I am wondering if the lid for the resin tank is to also keep in the volatiles that would otherwise escape and change the chemistry?
Also, what happens if you end up with resin on the top of the build plate? Will it get in and gum up the works?

    Couple of things.
    1. I'm glad your critical. Small things can be very annoying over time and helps companies know upgrade options for later models
    2. People who complain about these things prob bought the printer and don't want regrets so they are just babies who can't take criticism.
    3. With your accent I need you to say "tight like a tiger!" When you say something is tight!! 😅

Reduce exposure on the base layers, there's a bit of an issue with wide prints creating too much suction. I've set mine down to 20sec for base layers, and down to 2.2 sec for regular layers.... probably going to lower base layers down even lower.

The max fill is when it flows into the little recessed shelf towards the back corner.
The exposure test really should be a full screen, like the vat cleaner function. Also: put a sheet of paper over it first 😜👍
A little helper for emptying the vat: put a strip of masking / painter's tape across the corner leaving a small gap right in the corner that's big enough for a steady pour rate.

Apparently the reason for the difference between Aluminum and Aluminium has to do with the British Royal Society (that's the science ministry, right?) and the first New York paper to report on aluminum in the US: the BRS accepted "Aluminium", but either trying to save the cost of printing the 'i' or by some clerical error, in the US the circulated name was 'Aluminum', and it stuck.

Photon S did the hinge doors right however many years ago, why not just copy it? Why they look like they will shut by themselves at any time.
Also seeing resin drips on the screen gives me flashbacks from my multiple days troubleshooting adventure, that turned out to be fep sticking to the (not cleaned enough) screen after resin spill. I'm super paranoid about resin getting on the screen since then.
