    Thank you for the tip. I made the mistake mixing seeds with the pellets he came with from the rescue and bam he ignored pellets. I took all seeds away and slowly he'll eat them bit by bit. I also sometimes now put out a lil dish with tea or water and put some pellets in it. Yay. He eats it. Next time I will grind them and put the powder into the cookies I bake for him. He came with Zupreem. I tried Roudybush, Harrison and tops. Nope. 😊

      all my parrots ( quaker, jenday conure and green cheeked conure ) are on zupreem natural pellets eating the medium-large pellets. they won't eat the other pellets except for zupreem fruit pellets medium large. they want that bigger size. i've tried grinding their pellets up but they turn their beaks up at that. the 2 conures went to pellets from seeds almost after day 1. my quaker parrot bucked with the new pelletts at first. he was 3 yrs old then. he made is feelings known about other pellet brands by refusing to eat them and crapping on them in his dish. zupreem he took right up with and ate, my birds are senior citizens now in good health from the pellet diet. the quaker is 20 yrs old, the jenday conure at 17 yrs old and the green-cheek conure is 14 yrs old. all of them very active and live to torture me daily.LOL love'em much and enjoy their company.

    Love this video so much.
    I don't like Zupreem pallets and also so hard to get good-quality pellets here in my place. Is it okay to give my conure her chop both morning and evening? Or can you suggest any other healthy food instead of chop and pellets?

    • @mimisbirdhouse
      @mimisbirdhouse  Před rokem

      I give mine pellets, chop, fruit and some almonds and walnuts during the whole day. I keep the food out of direct sun and the room isnt too dry, but yes its fully okay! You can even bring example a spinach leaf for them to munch on. They get a hard boiled egg once a week (unseasoned and cooked on teflon free pan) as extra protein and calcium. You can cook some rice, lentils, beans, etc(same rules) ☺️
      But chop and pellets is the base meal and needs to be given everyday. You can change up what veggies are used for chop or add extra things that i mentioned but they gotta have that chop and pellets

    I just got a greencheek...about 6 months old I'd say from petco because I cannot stand seeing birds in places like those. And he's been on an all seed diet - now I got my OTHER green cheek who was from a family run business and raised on a very good pellet diet. Good stuff. All he's known. How can switch the new baby onto his food? Do I just slowly incorporate it?

    • @mimisbirdhouse
      @mimisbirdhouse  Před 7 měsíci

      Same way i show in this video :) you can definitely try just incorporating it. they might switch for the sole reason that the other conure is eating a good diet :)

    I have a green cheek conure he loves his pellets and for the first few days his chop too but after a few days he really wouldnt eat chop only eats vegtables if i mix fruit into them do you have any tips or anything for how i should cut them or vegtables he might like better

    • @mimisbirdhouse
      @mimisbirdhouse  Před rokem

      Well I mean if they eat the veggies and fruits together there is nothing wrong with that. I do that too have them on the same plate. If you want to seperate it then itll be like a toddler stage. Giving different mixes of different veggies and see what appeals to them. Different sizes. Mine need me to switch up the recipe every so often so they dont get bored. They also appreciate if i mix some stuff from time time like oats. Itll be a trial and error series 😅

    Heyy!! I recently found a quaker parrot in my backyard, looked for the owners but no one reached out. So here I come, asking you for some help. She often comes and sits on my head or shoulders, but doesn’t let me touch her, she just bites. She doesn’t wanna go in her cage and is really scared when i go near her which makes me in kind of trouble when i need to do something in the room but don’t wanna scare her. So if you have any tips on how can i make her go in the cage, so she doesn’t get as scared as she is now, i would be really grateful!❤️

    • @mimisbirdhouse
      @mimisbirdhouse  Před rokem

      They may trust you but not your hands yet. They maybe used to sitting on shoulders from their previous home.
      My channel intro video has a timestamp on bonding and gaining their trust if that helps.
      As for getting them onto their cage I use food. Try and lure them in with treats. Also make sure the cage is comfy and not overwhelming. Good natural perches, well sized toys, their food and water at a good height next to each other. Make sure the cage is at a height and not on the floor and thats its near a window so they have a good view. You want them to feel like its a home ans not a prison so of course itll take time. Some feel comfortable at first just sitting ontop of the cage before they even go in
