- Yes performing the track Parallels from the 1977 album Going For The One, live in Glasgow in 1977, with audio from the same tour, from Ahoy Halle, Rotterdam, recorded on 24th November, 1977, as featured on the live Yes album Yesshows (1980).
Song written by Chris Squire.
Production and mixing by Chris Squire.
Going For The One is my favourite Yes album and I love the album Yesshows. I often wish we had more quality live footage from this happy era in Yes' history.
Frame rate changes were required at certain points throughout to keep the video in sync with the music, as this is the era before click tracks, but these were only slight changes in frame rate. As can be seen from the visuals, the band were pretty consistent in what they played. I also made some colour shifts and upscaled the video resolution.
My favourite rhythm section in action and both Chris and Alan are sadly no longer with us. This is a fitting tribute to them at the height of their powers.
Jon Anderson - Lead Vocals
Steve Howe - Electric guitar and Backing Vocals
Rick Wakeman - Keyboards
Chris Squire - Bass Guitar and Backing Vocals
Alan White - Drums

Who's listening.? 2024!
I was there in Glasgow Apollo for the show - superb gig !!
Certainly in the conversation of greatest band ever
Perfect everything, especially that guitar tone and bass tone. Ridiculous ear candy.
Happy Heavenly Birthday to my favorite bassist of all time!!!!!!!!!!
Wicked bass line from one of the greatest! 😎🎸
Oh god thank you for this....
Wow!
I was there in Rotterdam. Best Yesshow I ever saw (seen them about 12 times). The energy that came from the stage. It was incredible.
I saw this show in Rotterdam in '77. It was great! Remarkable how much they sound like the original studio album.
Les ai vus en 77 à Paris et bien d autres fois, découvert avec Yessongs en mon jeunes temps Amitiés à tout le monde
❤ Chris ❤
Many thanks for posting this! I was just blasting this on my speakers via streaming and checked to see if there was a live version!
When I heard this song 40 years ago, I thought that portent melody was by Rick Wakeman keyboards and was for me marvelous, but some years later I realized that it really was a Steve Howe gitar play, double unbelievable...
AWESOME !! THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS UP. FROM SEDONA, ARIZONA 🇺🇲
And I always thought Steve used the trem on this song to achieve those wobbling, growling notes.
It's the beginning of a new dimension...
To be an ever-opening flower...
I used to listen to this on my Victrola when it first came out.
Every time is number one for me
Saw this Tour in Oakland Ca. I have never witnessed anything like it!
It ruined me…nothing else ever compared 🥲
Awesome! Steve Howe is amazing
Epic
I tried my hand at this without knowing this video existed, and I have to say great job! (Better than mine)
Thanks very much. I wish we had some decent genuine archive footage of the band live at this period of its existence with decent accompanying audio recording.
Steve Howe and Chris Squire duo-handedly pushed this song. Of course Rick is great, Jon is Jon, and I think the drummer is Alan or maybe Bill......either one, it's still a fun tune to play.
It's Alan on drums and I'm bound to say as a drummer that it's the rhythm section - Alan and Chris - who are driving it, as can be heard in the studio sessions for the track. 😃
The interplay between Alan and Chris is just beautiful, especially those ghost notes Alan is putting in on the snare and Chris is playing on the bass to really fill out the rhythm and keep it driving.

@@jtchivers Well hello to you from a fellow drummer. Drummers are the heartbeat of every band.......however......I'm also a guitarist, flutist, bassist, and keyboardist and I have my druthers too. YES is a conglomeration of well rehearsed and very talented musicians that, as a group, have produced some magnificent tunes. I picked my favorite two, you choose yours. Parallels is in the key of C Major which makes it even more fun to play. It's one of my favorite warm up tunes no matter what instrument I feel like playing on any given day. The only member of the group I can't hold a candle to is Jon..........what an outstanding voice, second to none. Keep on rockn'....
Short neck on that guitar.
