SpecialSpock I'm not sure why they have really loud horns. The Washington metro has similar-sounding horns. If an operator were to use the horn on the platform, it would terrify everyone near it or temporarily deafen them.
It used to be customary for the red line trains to use it when they were at least halfway to the station but still in the tunnel. It was a very awesome sound as it echoed up through the tunnel, but they were getting too many complaints I guess so they installed the dainty whistles.
First time I've seen an operator use it on the platform, they usually use it while approaching. Epic sound by the way!
00:11 AAAHHHH!!!
The train: AHHHHHhH in 0:11
It sounds like a Leslie RS3L
WMATA also uses that horn on the Breda Rehabs.
They usually use a quieter air whistle. Why'd they use this loud horn?
My operator did it because were too close to edge and didn't move

Sounds like a Nathan P2 horn with bells 1 (C#) and 2 (E) similar to metrolink except they used to use P2 with bells 2(E) and 3(G) or 2(E) and 4(A).
The red and purple line have a horn of the Pacific electric red car horn and BNSF Horn
Sometimes the operators use it in the tunnels
I think they do that when there are people working in the tunnels to alert them.
I think it was because some people were standing past the yellow line
