Far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.
The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.
I watched Phantom of the Opera on Broadway with my family for the first time on a Sunday. I couldn’t say a word after the performance... the songs were a masterpiece, and that Emilia did an awesome job as Christine Daae. I would recommend my friends to go see this. 😁
Same! It was one of the first musicals I ever saw on broadway and I loved it! I can’t wait to see it again someday.
@@elysewalden16 I would also want to see Hamilton and the Lion King on Broadway! 🤩
Same here 😍

Totally agree I felt overwhelmed and was happy to see it felt the same thing !
Bring it back on US tour please!! It’s so beautiful, family friendly, & the music is the best of all musicals (imo!)
as lovers of the phantom of the opera, the fact that it is interpreted by different ethnic groups, races, countries, cultures, only expands this wonderful story, personally I love that the characters are constantly changed, I feel that love just spreads and that's it
The fact that I witnessed this with my own eyes. I promise you I am still not over it. While everyone around me was just sitting there and applauding I was crying and holding myself from screaming
OMG Emily's voice is so gorgeous, pure and clear! Just fits perfectly with Christine's innocent character I imagined.
I saw this last Wednesday and Emilie was FANTASTIC. Making plans to see it again
I have seen this show 5 times . This is my favorite show in the history of broadway ❤
I’ve only seen it once and it’s sad it’s coming to an end! I loved it!
I got to watch this performance and I was breath taken it was amazing, I have never fell in love with a musical so much other than this. I will always remember the feeling I got when I first watched it!

Emilie has a very lovely voice! I hope to be able to see her perform!

I went last night with my Dad and had a wonderful time, the performance was majestic!😆
I have probably watched the 25th anniversary and the movie at least 70 times and expected to be prepared for everything that was going to happen.
I wasn't.
The actors and actresses we're so comical and animated! I truly wasn't expecting to laugh so much! They're singing was amazing and the sense changes were magical! This was my first time on Broadway and my dad took me as date. I know I'll never forget it!
My first broadway play in New York. What an experience, what a night. Now I watch it on CZcams to remember
Oh my God this Christine is GORGEOUS!!!!! AAAHHHHH I'm freking out!
I’m going in January and this clip showing the chandelier has me worth goosebumps
How was it?!
A DREAM😭
The last surviving original production. Stunning.
And sadly it's ending in February
Now it'll be in April :(
The 16th
Just saw this Thursday night (10 /29 /2020) It was beautiful. Everything it the trailed was it the live show! It was amazing! 🥰
Awww I saw them last December!!! It was so perfect I had to focus on not crying ❤️🥺 but I reaaalllyyyy need to know the Phantom’s trick on the stairs. How does it work? From being in one side and then, a second later, being on the stairs 🤯 I can’t get over it!
no the chair when he disappeared! like HOW!
If you're talking about the descent sequence in the title song, it's done with body doubles. The vocals for the entire second verse, if I understand correctly, are actually pre-recorded. The lead actors are getting into place during that part while the doubles are lip-syncing to the leads' pre-recorded voices. Christine's final high note in the title song is also pre-recorded, I think, as it's a ridiculously high note for even most professional sopranos to hit well on a daily basis. It may be used intermittently based on the singer's voice on any given day, though.
I saw it yesterday and I'm still singing all the songs and googling everything about the actors. It'a an amazing job, flawless, so powerfull and with so much heart and soul. I'm in love with this musical. Ben and Emilia are GENIUS.
Just saw it yesterday evening for the first time (it's currently 10/1/22 at 12:41AM) - loved it! ESPECIALLY the chandelier effect - WOW!
I saw this on Saturday and it was the most amazing thing ever
I went to go see phantom and Emile wasn’t there😢 but her standby was great I absolutely loved the entire show
Si de algo me arrepiento de haber ido a ver esta obra, es de no haber pagado boletos en primera fila.... ha sido una de las experiencias más bonitas de mi vida.
Nunca pensé que me emocionara tanto algo así.
I wish the phantom of the opera could stay on Broadway. I was thinking about seeing that on Broadway this summer and going to see it for the first time never saw it before I only saw the tour of it in Detroit never saw in Broadway. I wish I could come back to Broadway soon or now
Loved show. One a kind.
The phantom did so well, He was my favorite
I saw it was amazing we need this on blu ray tho I definitely want to rewatch this over and over
There's the 25th anniversary edition pro-shot of the performance available to watch! It's not on Blu-Ray as far as I know but it's a professional recording!
First time seeing it yesterday. It was fantastic! It was the alternate playing Christine, so I was sad to miss Emilie. Loved the show and sad to see it leaving!
I saw them today 2/8/2023 & I honestly cried from start to finish. Beautiful performance! Absolutely astounding . I mouthed every song. For the love of everything sacred don't get rid of this show. But if you really must, just know you all have made this girls dream come true.🎭
Headed there in a couple weeks. Told my wife I’m gonna do the same 🤣
@blake Welll take it all in and enjoy every second. Hearing the orchestra echo in that room in person is out of this world. Have a drink at the bar across the street use the bathroom so you don't have to get up and miss anything. Also get merch before you sit.
One day one day I'll see this live...it's just not gonna be anytime soon
Sameee I really hope I can see it too
I really wish they were recording this one! Sad to see it end, I really wanted to go see it.

I know there's one more original story to be told in this art.
World's only respected popularity musical play in America. So much to miss the amazing musical play to shut down. 🙏
Love the Phantom's voice & Raoul's voice.
This is why, I love it when you have different peoples of colors, playing the role of Christine, Raoul and Eric respectively. In a VERY good way!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I watched “ The phantom of the opera” in Broadway on July.
It’s really fabulous and made me goosebumps when the opera performed...
(But I think the cast was different)
De mooiste show die ik ooit zag...
Hey people! I'm doing some research and I'd be eternally grateful to anyone who can help.
I saw Phantom when I was a preteen, on what was either the 16th or 17th of June 2014, in London. It made an impression on me that I haven't shaken yet. Truly magical, and for an 11-year-old, terrifying.
I want to figure out who was playing Phantom that night so I can try to find a video or recording of their performance and see how differently I may perceive it, and to relive the memory.
Does anyone know where I could find those records?
It was possibly Geronimo Rauch. He was the lead most of that year according to what I could find. Here is a link to a video with him and Harriet Jones.

@@neaelevator Thank you so much!! I have no idea whether that's really the one but it seems likely.
Wow! She's so pretty!
Had planned to see it back in September, but then found it is will be closing. Will see it this next week, which I'm not sure what day. Will be bittersweet for sure, but excited to see it one last time. Hopefully this original production will tour. Fingers crossed.
Just got tickets I can't wait!!!!
I saw this show for the first time during COVID lock down. It was the 25th anniversary release and my goodness I fell in love! I don't care who is the lead my attention is on can they pull it off. Looks like she has the chops by these clips.
I do like the new filmed trailer for The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway
Saw Emilie on June, she was Fantastic, everyone was. Please go to see Phantom before February 18
BEAUTIFUL WE LOVE HER!!!!
Brava! Brava!
Next year phantom will be closing march 31st 2023. Who's sad about this? and who agrees with me?

She is talented! Thank you for her....
Is it possible to get a recording of this version @Thephantonoftheoperaonbroadway ?
Went and watch this just today
Do you have some recording from the bulgarian performance? The bulgarian actors are singing really nice, but I can't find anything and I heard they have send recordings to USA.
please come back to the US
It has reopened on Broadway.
@@andkyrmar i know but why dont they bring it to other states again in the US? they always did
@@krystalharwood6359 I know right, they should bring it back to USA.
@@jswatch9270 idk why its stuck in ny but hasnt visited the rest i the states
@@krystalharwood6359 I don't know why either and I say it should come back to the rest of USA.
Sierra Boggess forever has my heart ☺️
I know, Sierra is amazing. But this Christine is from Africa. What the hell was that? 😆😆😆
Why is it that Sierra/Ramin fans always have to comment that they’re their favorite. Good for you.
Saw them two days ago. They only have 15 shows left
He'll be back
Why the re-upload?
Emilie is wonderfull.
Nope!
@@ingridmay66 yes she is, i'm not sure why you're flooding the comments with hate when she is objectively good. you are just miserable.
No hay algún en vivo que podamos pagar para ver??? 😥
Emilie have perfct Voice !!!!!!
I’m so going with my children !
Okay not gonna lie, Emilie sound a lot like Sierra Bogges. I was really confused the beginning 😅
Nope!🤣
I fell asleep during the broadway show
I saw last week but i was in the balcony .i wanna go again but this time i want to be in the middle
It sucks that it is ending on April 16
is it just me, or does it seem that the phantoms mask and makeup is much more similar to the older ones?
Phantom masks have evolved and often redesigned for each new principal phantom. Since the reopening of both the London and NYC after covid lockdowns, there have been a number of lyrical, directional and blocking adjustments. The make up on the phantom on both sides of the Atlantic has also altered. It’s still similar to the original Chris Tucker design but with modifications.
Does anyonne know if the phantom is Ramin Karimoo in this production? It's sounds like him at least. Emily on the other hand sounds a lot like Sierra.
It's Ben Crawford
@@msb4838 Ok, thanks! 🙂
Can I have the phantom costume and the mask?
Oh goodie blaxploitation phantom
Because the daughter of a Swedish violinist in EIGHTEEN SEVENTY FRANCE would totally be a kueen, slay
Aaaand the show is now cancelled lol
very few christines were actually swedish. just white. There has been an Asian Christine as well but you just love to reserve your comments for when its a black person.
@@user-of4yv7ji1b Prove it, NPC
I’m gonna ask Andrew to make sure that phantom does not close on Broadway stay on Broadway for good
she was so fucking good yalll Need to come here
I can’t wait for Margot Robbie to play sister Mary Clarence in the new sister act.
cry
❗️Guys, I want to save Phantom, but I can’t do this alone. Please spread the word:
#PhantomsNeverDie ❗️
@@bernardoohara I guess they must of had many black opera singers in France during that time.
You sound goofy
Поют слабенько
нормально поют, слабенько это почти все наши пели.
@@Jillcorporation Наши это кто? А в данном клипе девица, наверное только из политкорретности появилась .
Race swap here too huh.
Unfortunately
Why does it matter? She has a nice vocie thats what most important
@@amandae8437 girl shut up
@@et7281 I agree it really shouldn't matter. In my opinion, actors should be free to inhabit any role that their talent allows them to perform irrespective of gender, race, sexual orientation, etc. I do find that there is a double standard that I find problematic. There seems to be a lot of outrage for actors that are not authentically cast in terms of the aforementioned, except when a POC takes on a white person role. Christine was the daughter of a Swedish violinist so by that standard she should be white. However, I'm excited for the opportunity that diverse casting provides for such talent to shine. I just wish such grace were extended to all other actors because their job is quite literally to take on the character of another, fictional or real. I am also conflicted about whether this can become a subtle way of rewriting history because POC did not hold these positions during that time and place. As diverse casting becomes more commonplace, will people in time start to believe this to be a historically accurate representation? That worries me given the blatant move to suppress history as we are seeing take hold throughout our country. Emilie has an amazing voice and I will be thrilled to see her perform. Both leads have spectacular voices. Phantom is my favorite play so I've seen many productions. The last time I was this excited with the singing was when Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford were in the cast.
@@Mdelgado5498 ikr, she is a brilliant christine.
If we are going to cast a christine that is 100% accurate to the book. Then she should be blonde. But in most theater versions she is brunette.
So I don't see why people get mad when they change skin color, but not hair color. I feel like they will only be happy as long as it is a white woman. Thats super sad.
Monkey in a dress
you thought you ate
Color blind casting destroyed Broadway
woke.
How so?
