This is the best instructional video for connecting REL subs to an amp. Most videos don't show how the right and left speakers get connected together with the REL subs. Thumbs up.
DUDE. I watched al l the rel connection videos made by REL and they all left me confused after watching. Yours was CLEAR and by far the best. I very much appreciate this video, thank you!
Thanks. Found the courage to try the SpeakOn connection, based upon this video 🥹. However, for a cleaner look, I braided the positive pigtails from the SpeakOn into the corresponding positive wires of my left & right speakers, then inserted, screwed & locked them down into my banana plugs, as per usual. Didn’t use the black wire b/c my AVR is Class D. SpeakOn connection sounds better to my ears 🔊🙌🏽
I am new at this. I have the Rel Tzero for my music 2 channel setup, and i want to set it up with that cable. On my new Marantz setup, do i select it as just "2 channel"?
sometimes connecting both yellow and red gives way to much bass... use the red OR yellow in that case. I needed to replace the 3 wire with a 2 wire version cable before bass was tunable.
132 / 5000 Is it possible to apply this setting to a Marantz PM7000N ?. Would there be a danger of damaging any component of the system? Thank you very much in advance
Just picking up a T7 for my music set up 🤩 I’m running a biamp so I can connect to either right cos this connector is just to sync the sub to the tower speakers right?
No. Set your amp/receiver's speaker outputs to Large...you need the full frequency range for sub and small speaker on the same terminals (small speaker naturally 'ignores' the low frequencies below it's roll-off point. Sub gets the low frequency feed it requires. Then of course it's all about setting sub level knob, to match the small speaker volume, and the sub frequency knob to roll off where the small speakers take over. Bear in mind that an overlap will be boosting some frequencies too much in the upper-bass/lower-mid region).
@@TechnoDad Ok I see, looks like I worded it wrong. What do we do if an apmlifier, pre amp or a receiver only has XLR connectors. Thank you. For replying by the way.
@@TechnoDad Say it ain't so! I have a Willsenton R8 integrated tube amp and was going to get a REL subwoofer to pair it with, but you're saying this is ill advised? What is the issue with this method and tube amps?
So, if using bookshelves, for example, are they required to play a full-range signal now? I understand you can XO the REL with its knob but what about the main speakers?
@@efrainl Not if you 'tune in'. However, you can always buy (keep) standard subwoofer then select 'small' for your main speakers. As long as you're happy that's all that matters.
@@waydejames8483 Cool. I actually have this in mind, I want to add a T/7x to my mains for stereo/music listening, and have the AVR turn on the SVS only in "movie" modes (setting the AVR low-pass filter to around 40Hz). No idea if it'll work but wish me luck
This confuses me because it mentions "left" and "right" speakers. But this is a subwoofer. There are left and right speakers in a subwoofer? I know I'm sounding extremely ignorant but I'm just now learning about this stuff before my purchase a Rel subwoofer
I can't believe REL cannot even make a straight forward easy to follow video. Yours break it down and make it crystal clear.
Thank you!

Ayyy! Nice! Thank you for sharing your experience.
Best Rel video ever. Ive watced most of them, and they don't explain these simple connections
Thanks.
Nice clear video. I have a pair of T9/x subs and personally I find it easier to connect one sub to the back of each of my main speakers cheers
Copy that!
that slow motion 4:17 :)
Yup!
If you have a power amp connected to your main amp which amp do you connect the rel sub to thanksv

Didn’t see the link to your box opening for this subwoofer nor did I find it on your page!
Whoops! Here it is - czcams.com/video/pmXPlaEnHEk/video.html
Thank you, looking at it now!

Yes, this is design to take the audio signal and send it to your sub.
@@TechnoDad just picked up mine today, hooking them up now using biamp 😁
Can you still set your speakers to small though? I’m wanting to bypass everything below 55 to the subs

Rel said to use the black wire for the ground?
correct
how about if want to hook different brand subwoofer the same way can it be done?
No, I would not try that.
Hi, quick question. How would you wire the high level cable if your receiver or amplifier only has balanced input.
These are outputs, so I'm not sure what you mean...
@@TechnoDad Ok I see, looks like I worded it wrong. What do we do if an apmlifier, pre amp or a receiver only has XLR connectors.
Thank you. For replying by the way.
How long is the High level cable?
I don’t know the number but it’s pretty long, over 12 feet.
Where could I buy this wire?
It comes with the subwoofers. Maybe REL will sell separately, but I’m not sure.
What up my Sri Lankan paternal friend?
Hello!!
It's not a line level connection, it's a high level connection. RCA connections would be a line level connection.
Two hots and a cold... 😜
LOL!
Isn’t there a warning about tube amps?
Oh yeah, you shouldn't do this with a tube amp.
@@TechnoDad how about tube pre-amp?
@@sids2012 Well, it would be to connect to an amp and not a pre-amp. I cannot confirm this.

How you feeling this morning, Channa?🤣😂
Hah! Totally fine. Just hoping I get to the airport on time!!
@@TechnoDad I thought Techno Dad would get a police escort to the airport. Don't they know who you are???!!!😅🤣. Safe travels my brother 🙏 ❤
Out late up early. Thanks for the information. Enjoy your day.
Looks like a electrocution hazard to me 😂

Yes!
