- I was inspired to build this BOHO DAYBED from CB2 for a fraction of the cost! This budget friendly alternative was so satisfying to build specially because it cost so much less than the original but looked almost identical in my opinion! Stay tuned to see how I end up putting this daybed to use in my home in another future house to home makeover video.

I'd recommend using staples to attach fabric to the thin facing/ border boards and use finish brads to attach to bed frame. That way if the fabric gets torn or damaged, you can easily remove and replace without damaging the bed frame itself.
This turned out so beautifully. As a woman that likes to build and make, I appreciate your detailed instructions. However, many women have not had the benefit of shop class or instruction from family or friends. I think many would enjoy some tutorials on how to measure and how to use certain tools. Like how to use a speed square, a pocket hole jig, and operation of power saws (safety, which to use when, how to replace a blade). Many people are afraid of power tools because they’ve never been taught how to use them. Just short ones 10-15 minutes long. Also, if you preshrink your fabric in the washer in hot water and dry on high in the dryer, iron, apply, mist with water and let dry again, it will be drum tight. Cane must also be wet before application. Great job! Wonderful project for a beginner.
I agree used to be one of them!! Thank you so much for watching! and great tip with the fabric!! I knew this was essential with cane but never thought about this with other fabrics!!❤️❤️
Awesome, great job! Love it!
A true DIY tutorial unlike so many on here. Amazing job! 😍 I'm looking for inspiration to make my dog a bed/sofa that also looks like a normal piece of furniture in the flat, and this looks absolutely stunning!
What a great project, thank you so much. Amazing!
My pleasure, thank you so much for watching 😊❤️
Awesome job!
This is awesome! You’re totally making me want to get wood tools!
You should!❤️💪
Great job! You really have some serious carpentry skills.
I love this! I had a similar situation with the whole cane thing. I wanted to put cane on the glass parts of my IKEA Billy bookcase doors for a boho look. But when I priced them, they were so expensive for the amount I needed. So I used light burlap with a loose weave and voilà! Even my husband loves his they turned out. Now I'm obsessed with finding other things to add burlap to! 😂😂
Yes!! Its such an inexpensive alternative!! Cane is ridiculously priced right now too bc its "trendy"! Thanks for watching! ❤️😊
This came out amazing!!
Thank you so much! and thanks for watching! ❤️
Totally love it! I’m a beginner at carpentry and would totally try this ❤️
Thanks for watching ! ❤️ so good to hear you would give it a go!
Wonderful job!!!!!
Pointers:
1) Always iron your material.
2) Afterward wet it and blow dry it once installed. This will make it shink to size once dry.
I just discovered you and can't get enough of your videos.
Thank you so much for the great tips!!
So glad to see you enjoying the videos ❤️😊
Great job! My one suggestion would be to iron the fabric before installing. Your woodworking turned out so nice to then have wrinkled fabric. Maybe you could steam it now. I love the look of the burlap though. A great money saver while still getting the organic look you get from caning.
That's a great idea! Thank you! and yes such a money saver! Thanks for watching 😊❤️
...you can still steam the wrinkles out...🌸
This turn out awesome! It’s very similar to the CB2 bed I’m really thinking of making my daughter a daybed after watching your video thanks for sharing you make it look so easy!
Thank you so much❤️glad you found my video helpful... give it a shot! You’d be surprised how simple the build really is!
This is so cute!
Thank you 😊❤️
I turned out really good! 💖Nice 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! 😊 and thank you for watching ❤️
Nice job; I was considering your choice of lumber too. However, I was concerned about the compressive strength of the 2x2’s. For the mattress base I chose 2x4’s. Thanks.
Wow 🤩!! This was a build from complete beginning to end . It came turned out so pretty . I love how you know how to use those tools is empowering for me . I was inspired by you pantry makeover and since have done mine of course with help 🙈😂. But wow you do it all alone 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.. Kudos to you 💜💜💜.
Ps . I loved the baby visitor 🥰😍😍😘😘😘so adorable.
❤️Thank you so much 😊she's actually my supervisor 😂
@@GlendaChavez 😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A+++!
I have very heavy people. Should I use 2x4s instead of 2x2s. I love the way you built this bed. I hope I can do your bed justice when I make one.
I’ll bet your daybed is made so much better than the $1200 one! Awesome.
So sweet, thank you!!! ❤️❤️😊 homemade quality vs manufactured can't compare 🤭
Fantastic
Awesome love the results and your ingenunity.
A few tips for future projects maybe have the burlap in a frame then add to the inside so it can possibly be removed.
Secondly if you eventually want to take apart only use screw to attach the back to the arms instead of additional glue.
If you add a “bunkie” board under the mattress, on top of the rails, it will be much more comfortable. The mattress will dip into the open spaces underneath. Beautiful job! Love this!
Thank you so much!! yes! I added support, just not for the picture ❤️😊
Great build. Did you put any type of finish on the raw wood?
My grandmother worked in a factory where they actually weaved the burlap from jute and then made different kind of bags for food, bedding etc.
I didn’t! Only because I wasn’t 100% sure if I was going to leave it like that or stain it... I will be leaving the raw wood look but top coat it with poly ! That’s sooo cool!!!!
Oh, to own a kregjig and table saw 🤗
❤❤❤
Do you think this is strong enough to support multiple people?/ is this an okay project for beginners? I absolutely LOVE this and would love to try making this for a tv room but I don't have any carpentry experience at all!
Mrs you are Great
Thank you so much Daisy! ❤️😊
Gorgeous! Am wondering how it’s holding up a year later. Have you had to add any additional support!?
Its doing great so far! I have not, but I will say we don't use it all that often, or for long periods of time... Hope that helps! ❤️ Thanks for watching!
The final product is beautiful, but I wonder if it is sturdy enough to support the weight of an adult. I watched as you screwed the mattress supporting slats to the front, and the front flexed with just the pressure you used to install the screws. A large part of the beauty of the frame is that it is delicate, but I wonder if using 3" by 3"s the frame would still look delicate but would be sturdier. Four by fours would be stronger still. Or, the addition of legs in the center of the front and rear might provide adequate support.
Thank you! 🤗Time will tell how long it’ll hold up... since it’s just a daybed it won’t be used as a typical bed will... but it definitely holds me and my daughter on there at once no problem... 4x4 would definitely make it sturdier... the overall look would change as well... I’ll keep you updated 🙃 thanks for watching!
Very cute. Did you do any finish on the wood?
Not yet! Im still undecided if I want to add stain or leave as is lol 🤭
Is there a cut list for this project anywhere?
Love it ! You are a bad ass
I appreciate that !❤️
You are exceptionally talented and I don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers but I know you’re gonna blow up. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate it! ❤️
How many of each board did you get?
Did I miss it or have u said how many of which boards u used
Can I do the backing without the glue? I live in an apartment so I need to be able to take it apart
Definitely possible, but eventually it may/will become misaligned... so as long as you are ok with this...
I don't ever find links? Can you help with where I find your links? With tools etc.?
How are you so knowledgeable in working with wood?
What type of mattress and mattress cover did you use?
I can't find a link for it! Im sorry! I bought it from Walmart a couple of year back.
Thanks so much for watching Lauren! ❤️
@@GlendaChavez thank you! I’m just scared to buy the wrong mattress that can’t withstand the weather and texas humidity 🥴
Was this a child size bed or a crib bed?
Can I convert this to a porch swing ?
Im sure you could. BUT I would think about changing the frame to maybe 2x4's for more support since it won't have legs to stay grounded and be supported.
Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️
Glenda Chavez thank you!!
You use Dewalt clamps, they are very good. Harbor Freight, not so much.
Girl, you are UN-BE-LIEVABLE!!! I don't know why this channel hasn't grown more because you have the best vids! You are unstoppable and your family should be so proud of you!
You’re too nice!!! Thank you so much for spreading such kind words 🥰🥰 it means everything! I appreciate your support ! ❤️
You're amazing...are you in california
Thank you so much ❤️... No, I’m actually in Texas (just outside of Houston)
And whats a day bed without a trundle bed! To be continued?
ooooo great idea! Ill keep this in mind! ❤️😊
Dimensions please . Design it so one can bolt it and unbolt in case of moving .
After going thru hell (the warranty company) w the daybed we bought (which was basically ALL PARTICLE BOARD) I would much rather make my own than fight w someone OVER AND OVER trying to get them to come out and do the job I prepaid for 🤦🏻♀️☠️😒😵💫
