    You did a great job. I really like that daybed. I made a couple outdoor couches and will be converting one over. I especially like the X boards you added for style. That really bumps it up a notch. What I really like is the style can be masculine for my little boys room. He likes cowboys. I think this will be perfect. Good job. Thank you so much for sharing.

    How would one make the legs detachable in order to increase its ability to fit through tight places? Or make the back removeable or the whole thing disassemble but still strong when put together. Also have a special spot that would require it to not be the full width a twin mattress, what would you recommend for the cushion in that case? Best way to add a cover for underneath if wanting to store stuff underneath that isn't seen? Thank you so much!

    Thank you for this! Its beautiful! Do you happen to know what the measurements would be (or how to calculate them) for a full mattress instead of twin?

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm sorry, I haven't calculated the measurements for a full mattress. The length should be the same, but the sides would have to be adjusted.

    • @Joesmith-fu4ps
      @Joesmith-fu4ps Před 2 lety +2

      You buy the mattress you want to build for, or know 100% for sure what mattress you are going to buy. Take measurement of that and them build.

    Can this be used in the backyard? I have a toddler mattress and this would be perfect but not sure how to make it waterproof. Subscribed. Thanks for this :)

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  Před 3 lety +1

      Using it in a backyard should be fine! I would use a waterproof mattress cover (which you likely already have for a toddler bed) and then use outdoor fabric to make a cover to make sure the mattress is extra protected.

  • @sandyfeet4086
    @sandyfeet4086 Před 3 lety +4

    Would like to know what kind of mattress you used. I have a daybed for seating and not just any mattress works.😀

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  Před 3 lety +2

      I used a regular twin mattress - it is 38"x75". I did add a piece of plywood under the daybed for extra stability. And because it was an older mattress that wasn't super comfy I added a foam mattress topper as well.

    Edit - nevermind, saw the answer to my question in another comment. 😊
    Great job! Exactly what I was looking for. Does it feel sturdy enough to have a few larger people sit/ lay on it for an extended period of time?

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! It feels pretty sturdy and we have had two adults on it at a time. But of course the absolute worst thing is to have a piece of furniture break when you sit on it. I would probably just be sure to add a piece of 1/2 inch plywood under the mattress. That will provide extra support and make sure the weight is distributed evenly across the slats.

  • @kia3d
    @kia3d Před 6 měsíci

    Very nice, Though I think you need an other 2 leg for extra support in the middle of the base one in front and one on the back 😊

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you! This daybed received a lot of use with 3 boys and we didn't have any issues. The base was very solid. But you can certainly add another pair if you feel it is necessary.

    How much weight do you think this type of frame with pocket holes can hold?

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  Před 4 lety +2

      Good question - I don't know for sure, but all of the research I have done shows pocket holes are very sturdy. My husband and I have both sat on the daybed with no issue. :) I do have a thin piece of plywood under the mattress which also helps distribute the weight more evenly. I think if weight load is a concern, an easy fix would be to use wider slats - maybe 1x6 with 2 pocket holes at each end and space them pretty close together.

    Can anyone tell me where they’re getting 2x3 that aren’t horribly ugly? I’ve checked Home Depot and lowes and all the ones I see have bark on them, ugly rounded corners, splits, knots that have been damaged.

    HI! on the X pieces, the one end is a 20 degree angle but the other end is different. It would be really helpful if the instructions told you what angle to cut.
