Hey Brad, I just built this bed for my daughter. It came out great and she loves it!! Your plans were very clear and complete. Thanks for making it easy.
I really enjoy your channel. The projects are straightforward and practical, and your explanations are clear and admittedly human. I like that when you do something that you wish you'd done differently, or if you make an error, you admit it and offer solution for the viewers benefit. Thank you! You've inspired me to get back to building/crafting!
*TopFineWoodworking. Com* is an amazing book about woodworking. I`m a graduate of a one-year carpentry course from a local tech college. Of all books I`ve read during my study about carpentry, I think this is the finest book I`ve read so far. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?
Brad, another awesome build. Thanks for sharing. Love that you were able to make something for your daughter. I'll be sure to pick up these plans this time next year for my 3rd oldest daughter.
Brad, that was a super video!! It was amazing to watch you go from basic materials to a great looking piece of bedroom furniture. It looks great! One question though, I followed you step by step but I don't think I can ever duplicate your speed. How many cups of coffee did it take?
This is so nice! I have a daybed and trying to figure out how to build & attach “rests” on each side for drinks, books, remote, etc. I’m worried I’ll knock things off with the pillows while sleeping and that it’ll look odd and I’ll hate it but I do need them 😭 Any ideas? Would love to see what you come up with! Please and thank you!!
Design and execution - championship :) I have only one objection, the mattress should have ventilation from bottom, placing it on a single board without any holes is not a happy idea. It's easy to improve and important to health. Thanks for the video Brad!
Awesome build and video. Construction grade lumber is an excellent choice for painted projects if cost of materials is a concern. I do not like the white wood 2x4's sold at my local box stores. I go for the 2x8's or 2x10's as they are Southern Yellow Pine which is much stronger and usually allows me to cut the pith out of the final boards. Of course this is not a perfect method, as sometimes you can literally watch a board start to twist and warp as you are cutting it.
Ever used polycrylic finish on bedroom furniture? If so, how long until you put it in your room? I'm finishing up my 2 year olds bed with waterbased polycrylic and am nervous about toxicity
Brad, I'm really hoping my wife doesn't see this. I'll be tasked with more builds. Very cool looking bed though. I might have to find a way to turn it into a triple bunk bed somehow. We currently have 3 girls and just opened our house to adopt 2 more kids. Pocket holes sound like a great idea for the next several beds now.
Wow, love that project. Hey quick question, what did you use for a paint sprayer? Just curious as I've been contemplating picking one up and not 100% sure what way I want to go as I know a lot of them you need to thin down the paint.
David Meisel, it looks lie the new Graco Ultra Cordless Handheld. Available at SW and BM paint stores and other suppliers like J&N Equipment in Florida. Also Amazon, but cheaper at J&N. Plus right now you can download a coupon for three extra FFLP tips for free from graco but you have to submit the form pretty quick to get the deal. Shoots latex and Alkyd Waterborne like Advance from Benjamin Moore without thinning. I'm tired of thining using my Fuji HVLP. Nice setup but thinning sometimes changes the sheen, can cause more runs, and with the heated air from the turbine in HVLP systems can cause lay down issues. Hope that helps.

We currently have no space for a day bed, but now I badly want a day bed. This is great!
The supervisor would love the drawers too :)
Fix This Build That she would be obsessed with those drawers!

Your such a cool dad bro. You’ve gave me so many ideas when I move into my new house next year. Thanks a lot for all the great context.
Thanks!
What a nice build and design. Your daughter should be very happy.
She loves it!
This looks showroom quality! Great job. Some people have an issue with pocket holes but they are so useful! I see no problems here!
Yes, if they are covered or hidden you'd never know.
Super clean build, man! Turned out great.
thanks, Johnny! You need one of these in about 4 years :)
Absolutely amazed that you made something of showroom quality by yourself from scratch. Looks amazing thank you for sharing.
Thanks!

thanks, man!
This is a great build! I really like the classic look and your straightforward explanations.
thanks, Ben!
My wife and I just saw the email for this and now the video. My step-daughter is gonna love this! Thanks for the Christmas idea :-)
+Randy Green tag me on social media if you build it!
Great work and instruction Brad! Maybe we can get rid of all those plastic totes under my kids beds now! Awesome storage solution.
You'd be surprised how quickly those drawers fill up, Casey!
You make this look easy, Love it.
thank you!

Wow a difficult job made to look easy and fun at the same time. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Shaun. She is so in love with it. It took about 30 seconds for her to have a drawer completely stuffed with...well stuffed animals :)
Maybe you can build a stuffed animal box in the future :)
This is a fantastic design and excellent execution! Thank you for sharing, it looks great.
Appreciate that, thanks!
Started buying all my tools to start building all these cool things. Can’t wait to start
Sleek design! Nice touch using the playing cards!
Thanks, I love that trick!
Another great project that looks as good as anything you can buy plus made to fit your needs. 👍👍
Great build! I think that the paint finish (applied like that) is what differentiates a simple DIY Vs a pro! It look really nice
Yes, spraying the finish makes it so much smoother.
What sprayer are you using Brad? Great job btw
Nice one mate, amazing how you fit that entire build into one short video.
The power of fast motion helped :) I did go a little faster than I wanted in some spots just to keep it under 10 minutes
The temporary support for the slides was a nifty trick!
Took a minute to figure that one out, but yeah it helped a ton. Thanks, Michael!
Ual!!!!!!!! It's Beautiful!!!!!!!, Is amazing how you work in yours projects.
Beautiful job, I was a woodworking teacher and I enjoy woodwork.
that looks good. Real quality
+James Roach thank you, James!
Awesome job, Brad! I know my daughter would love a bed like this too! That is one of the projects on my list for 2018.
Thanks, Josh!
Great project. Looks sturdy enough to survive about a dozen kids.
We've had 3 kids and two parents on it already and it felt great :)
ABSOLUTELY gorgeous I want this same design
Great video Brad...will be needing to build a platform bed for our cabin next year. Really appreciated the tips.
You're welcome, Stan!
awesome! I’d like to build this with a slide out extra bed under the other bed for when nephews and nieces visit.
Very simple and so well done ! Thank you Brad !!
Can't wait to do this for my little girl. She is 6 going on 16 so she has to have a big girl bed already. Lol. Thanks for the video. Great job
My girl is 6 also and adores it!
Great job Brad! Nice clean lines.
Thanks, Ian. I definitely love clean lines.
Amazing build! I love the way the drawers turned out.
Thanks, Kyle!
Very nice and really like the makeshift paint booth!
I'll say I did get overspray all over the floor even with a large drop cloth. I'd highly recommend having a fan running to exhaust outside.
Super nice! Looks amazing!
thanks, Michael!
This is awesome! Great job Brad!
Thank you, Cooper!
Good job, yet again sir. Happy kid, happy dad, haha!
I’m about to have twin in a few months. I think I’ll be building some of these to save room.

Came out great. Nice work
Thanks!
Nicely done! 👍
thanks, Ray!
Nice build, and how special to make a big girl bed for your daughter.
thanks, Nick. It was fun!
That’s a really nice bed! It would cost a fortune at a furniture store. I think I have to practice a little bit more before I attempt this one.
Wow...very good project ..great !
Thank you!
Great build, I wish I could find 2x4s like that! The Lowes and Home Depots around here carry the worst dimensional lumber!
Yeah, I had to search high and low for those :)
Another great project, thanks for sharing with us my friend.
I love it my dad is going to make me one
Can make Furniture-what a Dream Boat ! lol
Parabéns! Excelente trabalho 👏👏

I learned to work fast from my old man :)
Your job so fantastic

Thanks for the video Brad!
+Catlighting I had the same concern, but the manufacturer says a solid platform is fine.
Great job
Very nice build!!! Looks like I will be making a big girl bed soon.
thanks, it's a great build for the kids!
Excellent Work!
Great build!
+Angie Overton thank you, Angie!
Nice build

Yeah, totally agree. I tried to do some 2x2's and it literally stalled my saw from the pinching...with a riving knife!
Great build! Planning on doing this for my RV. What is the maximum weight this thing can handle?
Do you know the approximate cost of the lumber for this project?
Great job Brad!!!
thanks!
Excelente. Parabéns!!!
Thank you!
Nice job!
Thank you!
I love it 😄😄
Hey Brad, Which cordless sprayer was that used @ 6:53? Thanks Ryan
Very Nice.
thank you, Craig!
Love it spot on cheers
Hi Brad i am just ready to build 2 of these beds for my kids .Did you trim all of the 2x4 to 3 inches ? Even the strechers? Thanks
Very nice
+Dave Williams thanks!
Ever used polycrylic finish on bedroom furniture? If so, how long until you put it in your room? I'm finishing up my 2 year olds bed with waterbased polycrylic and am nervous about toxicity
Thanks for the inspiration
You're welcome!
Мужику респект-рукастый🌱
Super job!!!👍
Thanks!
Great build, Brad. Do they make drawer slides long enough for you to make drawers that could go the entire width of the bed?
I don't think they make them that long, about 28" is the longest I've seen readily available. But you could probably special order them that long.
Wow, sounds like you have a full house! Pocket holes will definitely speed up your work
very cool !
thanks, Andreas!
Wow, love that project. Hey quick question, what did you use for a paint sprayer? Just curious as I've been contemplating picking one up and not 100% sure what way I want to go as I know a lot of them you need to thin down the paint.
I used this one...works well, but pricey. No watering down the finish needed. amzn.to/2jaRz4L

Awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks for the info guys. :)
Right on, Phil. You nailed it!
Very good project!! I am half way through it, and I have a question for you. Did you do any surface prep before painting (sanding and/or primer)?
+Simon Rocheleau absolutely. I filled knots and divots and sanded to 150 grit
Fix This Build That thanks!! Never spray painted furniture before so I want to make sure I prep properly
Can you make a diy nook breakfast bench
Wow 😮
