- Let's look at the Ironman 4x4 awing room as an addition to your camping setup. It's an exciting product and I've spent 24 hours with it. to show you what it's like. I really like it, and it represents great value for money, especially I you already have an awning on your car.

I have one of these which I use with a VW Alltrack. I have found though that the zippers are not waterproof. As my car is low, the zippers sit on the ground and let in a river of water in the rain. I have gotten around this by using tarp clips to clip up the extra fabric near the car and raise the zippers. I am currently investigating some custom awning brackets to raise height of the awning on my car. I also got some pooling on my awning, even with one pole lowered. This was solved by adding a Darche adjustable centre pole in wet weather. One handy addition I make is to put an awning side wall on one side of the tent, raised on poles as an extra large awning facing the front of the car for more outdoor living space.
Yeah you need a tallish car to make this really work well but if you can manage a workaround it’s really great!
I just bought an InTech Persue trailer and you have helped me make up my mind. Once the trailer arrives, this will be my next purchase.
Thanks for reviewing this tent/awning. I was looking around for one to go under my XTM 2.0m x 2.5m awning but was put off by the velcro straps on the Kings and XTM versions. But this Ironman one is perfect. Sturdy clips are the way to go for sure.
That’s what drew me to it as well! Very good bit of kit! Thanks for watching!
Your video amazing and clear thank you , tomorrow i will go to sleep in desert and i will try to collect it for the first time , i hope it is easy
Enjoy the desert!!! One of my favourite locations! Let us know how it goes!!
Fantastic video mate! I'm very tempted on buying the dometic pico inflatable swag (yes it's expensive) but for minimalist camping and to bring weight and packsize down, it's a fantastic option.
Dude, there are soooo many options now. The Inflatable stuff is cool, but imo very overpriced. one cool bit of kit is the EXOD monolith, i think that might be worth it... otherwise, i recommend a basic one like the Coleman Swagger Darkroom, it's a very good bit of kit and pops up mega fast.
@@TheMidweekEscapeArtist main thing I love about inflatable is that it's super wind resistant and there is no snapping poles. I've never had a good run with coleman although I know their new stuff is pretty solid 👌 I'll check out that exod monolith!
What's the dementions of the bag when loaded ?
Hey mate, great videos ive just subscribed to your channel. Interested to know why youve hone away from the 270 aening and walls to the side awning and tent ?
Cheers
I wanted something enclosed. Where I am, flies and mosquitoes are a problem and just using walls does nothing to combat them. The side awning and tent has loads of other benefits as well such as having a double roof for condensation. I do love the 270 but until they make it compatible with an awning room, I’m on this side ;-)
What is the optimum height to mount thevawning so that the room bottom doesn't sag...i cant get a straight answer from the ironman site. Any help would be much appreciated. Is it 6.6 or 7 feet?
Hi
Wondering on the awning tent were you able to pack the floor and tent as one thankyou
I did. It fit fine.
Hello - what is that ground tarp that you're using? I've checked your links and can't seem to find it. Thanks!
It's a coleman shade cloth... not available everywhere but it's very good, i've got lots o them in different sizes.
hi mate
nice vid
is there anywhere in the tent that allows you to run a power lead into the tent? I sometimes run 240 into my tent to pump up my air mattress.
Cheers
The door is actually perfect for that. Just use the zips to close it up around the cable. No actual power port unfortunately.
Can it be installed the other way round so you have a bigger door opening at the rear.
Hi,
Do the Ironman have a awning tent for the 1.4x2m?
Plus sides/ walls?
Cheers, r
Hi Robert, no I don’t think so unfortunately.
thanks for the review! IM looking at this same tent/awning and they are having a black friday sale. HOw well has it held up for you? ALso....would the tent pack down smaller in a compression bag? Have you tried that?
It’s held up very well! It still looks brand new. I’m sure it will compress quite well if get all the air out of it. I haven’t tried that but thanks for the idea!!
@@TheMidweekEscapeArtist is this the 6.5x 6.5 size room? or the larger 8x8? Im thinking about adding this to the roof rack basket on my chevy avalanche, but not sure the larger version would secure well on a 4 foot roof rack. That would leave 2 feet hangin off each end.
@@rbljackson it’s the 2 x 3 version
Thankyou for doing this review…..
You have sold this awning room to me….
One question l have being 60 yo woman would l have any problems putting this up?
I think it’s a lot easier than many tents out there.
Were you able to pack the room with the floor on or do you have to unzip them?
I packed it up with the floor attached, fits back into the bag well.
Good video not sure wot type of vehicle to get Kangoo or Jinmy 👍 both fun gonna wait until June when I've done my Bushcraft course 2 see if I like campin 👍
Renault kangoo is so good for camping with zero off-roading. Jimny much smaller in size for gear but they're a hell of a drive and can do so well offroad (probably better than on road!)
Spot on Spencer!
I probably go for the Berlingo van many good things I could do with that don't really need a Jinmy nice motor though!!
@@alunjones9153 there you go! If no offroading is needed, vans are amazing especially for space! Can't get much better
@@spencerfrankel414 thanks that what I'm thinking seen some nice Berlingo vans for around £3000 could get 1 of them and make it minimalist conversion 👍
Do you like this more than the Oztent RV3? I was between this and the RV3 however the RV3 is very expensive in the states.
i think if you already have and awning compatible with this style of tent, it's a no-brainer. it's super convenient. Great bit of kit. although I will say you need to be careful which one you buy as some of them are terrible quality.
@@TheMidweekEscapeArtist Good to hear. I went ironman for both awning and room as it was half the cost of the Oztent and has more room. I'll see how it goes!
@@jeepncj7 How do you like the awning/awning room? Also trying to decide between this and a OZtent..
@@alexmunn1 it was ok. I kept the awning which is great and actually went Gazelle T4. It sets up way faster, and has more room.
did you keep the floor on when you packed it up?
Yes. Fit just fine.
Nice awning, I see a link to everything except the Iron man awning your talking about???????
Thought it only came with gray poles, I like the black better.
Hey, it’s actually from 23zero. It’s the raven 2000, there is a review on that one too for you. ;-)
@@TheMidweekEscapeArtist Any issues at all combining the raven 2000 with the ironman awning tent, opposed to using the ironman awning?
@@liamnorbury3498 none at all, perfectly compatible.
@@TheMidweekEscapeArtist Legend! Thanks for the response.
What is the weight when packed down?
I’m not sure how to answer that. It would be the same as when it was not packed up. It weighs what it weighs. Are you asking for the weight of it.
