    From Season 2 Episode 11 "Curbed Appeal": In order to spend more time in Mexico with their parents, sisters Esther and Libertad want to sell their four-bedroom bungalow... On the plus side, the home features a partial renovation and basement apartment, all on the edge of an affluent neighbourhood... But with its dowdy kitchen, reams of knickknacks, dull garden, and busy thoroughfare location, the home is completely unsellable.
    In order to appeal to upscale buyers and show off the home’s best assets, Sofie comes up with a knockout design plan. And while Anthony and the team declutter the home, modernize the kitchen, and add personality to the back garden, Sofie gives the sisters a much-needed lesson in real estate 101.
    The Unsellables - Can a slick makeover and big sales campaign help desperate homeowners sell their ‘unsellable’ homes? Packed with practical advice and tips to add real value to your house, this bold series hosted by Sofie Allsopp, shows viewers how to transform unwanted properties into unstoppable homes.

    OMG--the house was on the market for a year and yet they turn down an offer that was was "just under the asking price"! They do not seem to understand that the house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and people don't want to live on a 4 lane busy road.

    Those sellers are greedy...after a year on the market, they are still holding out for yet more money... they'll never learn

    Grear reno but surely removing some ugly concrete in front and planting a fairly high hedge would make a good barrier from the busy road? It just looks so bare in front.

    What people are ignoring is that this is a two family home, both apartments have two bedrooms, and off street parking. Whoever buys it will have their mortgage paid by the tenant. Having a large back yard, being in a good neighborhood, and even though it's a busy street, they should be able to get asking price.

    They should learn from previous experience. If you hold on for more, the house becomes stale and you are back to where you started. The buyers will also start thinking that the sellers are not serious about selling.

      I agree, they're not serious about selling. They will sell only if they get what they want, so they're in no hurry.

    539,000.00 is overpriced for this house. People must be desperate.

  • @Swakara1

    The house is not really cluttered. It's not selling because of that noisy busy road and the price of the house. The potential buyer will not get the decor with the house anyway.

  • @acadian76
    @acadian76 Před 7 měsíci +2

    The price was too high for the busy street. They are too inflexible on price. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Also, they should have replaced that fridge & stove.

    I would say the biggest problem is them wanting more money - all the other houses needed something doing to it, painting, repairing, etc...

  • @anniehovsepian6173
    @anniehovsepian6173 Před 2 lety +6

    They're never going to sell if they want the higher price, just too much for the house/street. Not ideal for a family, pets. I'd be terrified kids, pet's would run out and get hit. My uncle lived in a similar situation and they had a double sided key dead bolt to prevent the kids from getting out (which they once did, thankfully a off duty police officer saw them come out and took them home.

    The front is so sterile.. desertic.. lifeless.. too many steps too
    Maybe a border of plants creating a filtered privacy, a transition.. a small tree to draw attention.. a covered small porch..

    When I heard that they're still holding out for a higher offer after all this effort and being a year on the market, I realized they're not really serious about their timetable. They're in absolutely no hurry to sell, so this was a waste of time.

  • @pou618

    I don't care what kind of windows they have, it's never going to filter out that noise.

  • @Erintii
    @Erintii Před 2 lety +1

    Actually I liked the house and the neighbourhood. Proximity to public transit and amenities are deal breakers for me. I could never live in car dependent place. I don't mind a busy street. I used to spend holidays with my grandparents. They had 4th floor apartment near busier street and nothing ever happened. Noise levels were high but bearable. However they and their agents need to be realistic about price as many people will not like a busy street and prefer suburbia.
