You should watch the animation of it that was on Mr. Sunday Movies. It's cutesy, but it's still awesome to see the Trevorrow story in action.
I know, right? I started doing some reading about it after seeing this video, and I want to see it so bad! I had some issues with it, but for the most part it could have been something truly great. I already think that the Episode 9 we did get retroactively rendered the whole trilogy pointless, but this just made it worse.

So, Colin Trevorrow actually addressed Rian Johnson's idea that Rey's parents were nobody? That means Trevorrow actually tried to work things out with Johnson and Kennedy for some time before he walked. Interesting.
Yeah. Heard he did want to prevent the death of Luke, wrote a second version of the script that accounts for Fisher's death.
Seems like that there was some kind of planning in this trilogy after all

@@DefkonAndLector He reviewed the original script made by Derik Connolly & Colin Trevorrow for what episode 9 could be but it was scrapped by kathleen Kennedy and other unknown reasons. But yeah he really reviewed it as if it was a released movie haha you can check other videos for the full story.

Probably the best thing about Duel of the Fates for me was the set design of the ruins of the Jedi temple. Genuinely haunting and horrifying.

I’d absolutely go see this movie, but the main problem would be that this is definitely an adult Star Wars movie that you might hesitate to take a kid to. Laser guillotine? Nightmares. On a side note, Disney should just make it. “Here’s another episode 9. Now go argue about which one is canon while you give us the rest of your money.”

I just like the title because it acknowledges that John Williams’ music is the one great thing in every Skywalker Saga movie
Except fpr episode 9. The music wasn't original but just a rehash of his greatest hits but muted slightly without emotional impact.
Alex SciChannel yeah I’ve heard there was heavy studio interference for the music on 9. They didn’t let Williams invent anything new from what I’ve heard, which I wouldn’t be surprised by at all.

What guts me is that the "duel of the fates" music was supposed to be a part of the finale of the film and the cut it for generic Luke theme. There is still a TV trailer for the film that has it.
@@geoffreybassett6741 I think the fact that John Williams’ musical scores for the sequels were mostly forgettable or recycled is one of the biggest indictments of the whole sequel trilogy. In the Original trilogy, Williams was writing music for a classic hero’s journey full of adventure, love, and wonder. In the prequels, he was writing music to fit a Shakespearean tragedy to reflect Anakin’s fall. In the sequels, he was pretty much told to just play the “greatest hits collection” because all this trilogy tried to do was cash in on nostalgia and lazily reuse plot points. The only memorable pieces of original music in the sequels were Rey’s theme, March of the Resistance, and Jedi Steps, all of which I think would still rank pretty low on an overall tier list. Poor John Williams did what he could, but the movies were so derivative and lacking in structure he had almost nothing to work with.

They need to reboot the last Jedi first. You can rewrite rise of the Skywalker it's still going to come out like 🐕 sh*t. I was hooked on the fanmade storyline where Finn finds out he's force sensitive and gets a telepathical call from a Jedi that we later findout is Mace Windu with a school of frce sensitive Jedi he has been training on planet Dogobah making it a utopia for young Jedi. Mace has been living a nomadic lifestyle moving from Galaxy to Galaxy before he got forced called by Today to live in Dogobah n setup up a utopian Jedi skool . We later find out that Mace Windu is Finn's father that was stolen from him by the 1st order. When Dogobah was at war.

No, the Jedi temple was built upon a dark place or sith temple. The Jedi building is not Sith. The location is.
I seem to recall one of the characters in the X-Wing series entering the Jedi Temple and discovering that Palpatine had been using it as a personal trophy case for mementos and relics of all the dead Jedi Masters that had been wiped out by Order 66 and the Inquisition. Apparently he'd just go in there and revel in all the murder he'd done, like a serial killer.

Bennett Marshall in the Darth Vader comics which are canon, he turns the temple into his own personal palace
That "force heaven" scene had the potential to be an all-time favorite scene. Imagine Hayden Christensen and Mark Hamill in a scene together as father and son. As well as Hayden and Ewan McGregor interacting together again. Could also include Yoda, Mace Windu and Qui-Gon. Would have been another great way to tie all the trilogies together. With a decent writer, you could also explain why Luke looks older while everyone else is younger in a comedic way. Perhaps the others are lightheartedly chiding Luke for appearing as older, but he's only doing so because that's the version of him Rey would recognize. Rey has never seen the others anyway so they can appear as they like. Would have been a great fan-service scene that also serves the story. Could have Mace, Yoda and even Anakin himself musing about their interpretations of the Chosen One Prophecy now that everything has transpired. Don't have them give a definite answer, but their own theories and personal interpretations and let the audience mull it all over for themselves.

Jason Shaneyfelt idk y, but it kind of bothered me when I heard Ewan McGregor’s voice in the Sequel Trilogy, as it was cool to hear him at the time but it made me think “wait, wouldn’t that be Alec Guinness’s voice saying those lines Ewan said?” I know Sir Alec Guinness has passed away, but they could’ve gotten someone who sounds exactly like Guinness to say Ewan’s lines in the Sequel Trilogy. It’s a weird thing that’s been bugging me when I think about it.

Imagine instead of the Kylo and Vader battle just ending with Vader kicking his ass, Vader transforms into anakin and it’s revealed that he’s been trying to break through to his grandson this whole time but the dark side was forcing Kylo to only see him as Vader. Would lead into a much better transition from bad to good and really complete his arch.
There’s so many different ways they could’ve taken this trilogy and instead they just spit on it.

Vader: goes to strike but fades as kylo tries to defend himself from a feint

For those who don’t know; Colin’s script was “leaked” online a few months ago and you can read it online. It’s an alternate episode 9 that honestly is much more satisfying as an ending to the trilogy and the Skywalker saga.

@@Correa24bori No. The fanbase has already reached a general consensus on this. It's definitely better than RoS and TLJ, and probably would of been better than TFA, if it had gone through rewrites. It's not exactly great, but it does it's best with the heavily flawed blueprint that the other films made.

@@lovewillspill4460 Well yeah, you go to one of the multiple readings or analysis on CZcams, you'll generally find fans praising it's qualities while acknowledging a few of the criticisms such as the Rey/Poe thing. People think that the star wars fanbase is comprised of unpleaseable Gremlins, and while that might be true for OT purists, the rest simply want a quality product well made.
This movie sounds SO much better than The Rise Of Skywalker. Rey sounds like she could’ve been similar to Galen Marek, Vader’s secret apprentice from The Force Unleashed, where he was able to wield both light and dark side powers. However, she wouldn’t have been a Mary Sue for the sake of it.

2 things, mostly just addressing questions you had in the review regarding lore
1. Obi-Wan could do that to Vader, and did, right after Vader struck him down. It was in a comic, though. He like asked him if it was all worth it and called him Anakin and Vader yelled at him to not say that name because Anakin was weak so he had to kill him.
2. Palpatine didn't burn the Jedi Temple to the ground because after he had Vader and all his clone bois clear it out and whatnot, he moved in and made it his own private castle on the surface of Coruscant
My man just got me on board for what sounds like one of the coolest Star Wars movies ever and its not even real. That was so freaking captivating, like wow that was a good look into Star Wars

The lack of political context is one of the worst problem of the force awakens.
whereas in Episode I there was too much lol, I felt like the Episodes should have had prequels, even if it means more money, if the story is pieced together properly it would have been worth the experience, I really liked that this "movie" has a time gap, it was something I repeatedly griped about to my friends, all the Lucas films have a time gap, these movies were clearly back to back, and it kinda breaks immersion, in like, less than a month the first order fell and its like, how weak are these fucks that they fell in less than a month, like, where are the contingencies for when Snoke dies, I like that Rise of Skywalker gave us a cabinet of generals, the first order obviously needed to be ruled by committee BUT YES we wouldn't know that if they didn't show us that they are so big, that they absolutely need a large governing body, the first order by the end of the Force Awakens feels like they only govern a small portion of the greater galaxy (which is true) but comes off as the rest of the galaxy is in a stateless status and you basically have East India Companies all over the galaxy that MAY be providing services to some planets

Man, they started the pandering and damage control in episode 7. And even though it was fun to watch, all the serious problems that this new trilogy had to deal with started with that film.

By making its story almost exactly like Episode 4 (with Rey as the new Luke, and the First Order as the new Empire), Kennedy and company were going to have to sacrifice the original characters for the new ones. That was what I feared going into the The Last Jedi. That movie confirmed it.

I ended up giving The Force Awakens a pass mostly because in order to revive Star Wars they would need to play it as safe as possible, but the more I look back on it, the weaker of a movie it is. It’s clear they were in over their heads with this new trilogy thinking that cheap elements like fan service would be enough for people.
Y’all are forgetting that this alternate Dual of the Fates universe is one where Carrie Fisher didn’t die. We all wish that were the case, but from what I’ve heard that was the inciting incident that ultimately caused this script to be scrapped.
She died before TLJ was finished. They had plenty of time to reshoot so it was like they killed her off in that movie and Luke could've either survived and trained Rey, or just been a force ghost and done it... but they didn't do that...

They could've easily changed it so that her character was killed in space instead of Marry Poppinsing her way back into the ship in one of the most dumb scenes in the movie... seeing that scene knowing Carrie Fisher had passed away. THAT is not only insensitive, but also in poor taste and most importantly, really fucking dumb. That scene where she's in space could've been a nice send off seeing her gracefully float in space. But instead, she survives and her character goes on to be in the next movie, when it could've been Luke and he could've trained Rey.
Dominator 1021 Dominator 1021 They couldn’t have killed her off in TLJ because she was integral to the plot dingus. We wouldn’t have gotten that beautiful scene on Craig with Luke. We couldn’t have gotten that beautiful scene with Ben. She died a year before TLJ came out; it would be impossible to rewrite everything and reshoot everything and still make that deadline.
@@JPQFilms they didn't need to reshoot everything. Tell me the contributions that Leia made to the story after her Marry Poppins moment, that couldn't be easily changed with minimal effort. Her scene with Luke was nice I suppose, but the fact that he wasn't even there and died literally like 5 minutes later after being a useless old man for the entire film undercut it severely.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Jeremy’s ability to act, even if it’s as himself? I feel like if anyone else did a video like this there’d be so much more “*wink, wink* see what I did there?” This just sounds like another one of Jeremy’s reviews, done in his fashion and speaking patterns. Bravo, man.

Jeremy, my chest actually HURT when you said "Have you seen it, what did you think about it?", and I realised we were so close to a not-horrible ending that didn't leave my favourite film series dying in the Hollywood gutter. That being said, you pulled off the legit-ness of your actual reviews very well and I almost forgot that you were faking it. So great job 👏

Another cool alternate universe review is the one where instead of making Willow, a movie with clear Lord of The Rings influence, Ron Howard and George Lucas instead straight up made the LOTR trilogy back in the 80's. Starring Warwick Davis as Frodo, and Val Kilmer as Aragorn. It's interesting to think of what that movie would look/be like.

@@charltonallen7646 Yeah this review is WAY too forgiving of the flaws the Trevorrow script has. I mean, a Rey-Poe romance out of nowhere? There was NOTHING leading up to it. Force ghosts appearing for Sith? So many questions opened up. It just shows for me that the movie is all what you make of it, if you go in wanting to tear it apart, you'll find ways to do it.
Ultimately the Sequels' main flaw was not having a continuous vision throughout the trilogy. That wouldn't change in any universe.
@@charltonallen7646 no dude, we really wouldnt. jj had to salvage the shitshow that was 8, and failed epically with his stupid 'mystery box!' chase style. Trevarro actually took the material he had, and i think the script he wrote is actually good considering what he had to work with. the current 8 and 9 are complete garbage. 7 only get a small pass because on its own, it kinda works and sets up crumbs for stories to lead from. sadly didnt pan out.

Easy it's a place of rage for Darth Vader, rage/anger lead to hate, hate leads to the POWER OF THE DARK SIDE.
Plus it was a private sanctum for palpatine when he was on Coruscant, and filled with tons of ancient Jedi and Sith relics. it was off limits to everyone but him and vader.
He actually transformed it into his Imperial Palace.
Yeah, Palpatine knew how idiodic the Jedi Code was and exploited it to get Anakin to the dark side. That temple represents the hammer he used to nail the jedi's coffin.
Palpatine was trolling the dead Jedi by turning their temple into his own Imperial Palace, makes perfect sense for the Emperor; as if serving as supreme chancellor right under their noses and conspiring with the Clone Army to murder the Jedi wasn't enough, he has to turn their place of sanctity into his own dark side party house.

And now that Jurassic World: Dominion came out I think I can safely say that Episode 9 was doomed either way. How it turned out was the best possible outcome. It was either JJ or Rian that was going to be brought in and had Episode 9 been delayed into 2020 (because sadly Abrams was brought in at the last possible second and it would be nice to give him more time instead of going from May 2019 to December 2019) they would have to face the pandemic. And also the draft that you're describing Jeremy is the first draft, not the final draft.
