I remember when this band first came on the scene. My brother's best friend asked me if I knew about 10 Years After. I replied, 10 Years After what? He had a good laugh, then we smoked a joint and he turned me on to this album. This song was my introduction to jazzy blues, love it, but really love 50 Thousand Miles beneath my Brain. Great memories, we're all still tight as family. Great band, great music, great time to be young. ☮️to all.
Alvin Lee was just a monster on the guitar,no matter the genre
He was a monster as a human too. A total arrogant as-. I saw him when he was older, he looked ridiculous fat in spandex pants, played like he was bored, insulted the audience and didn’t bother playing the whole set and walked off.
That's right! He was known as the FASTEST GUN IN THE WEST!
That album, Cricklewood Green is a masterpiece.
Ten Years After and Alvin Lee is my favorite band.... You need to check out TYA recorded Live one of the best Live albums.... Also check out Alvin Lee's song the Bluest Blues....
Alvin was a complete entertainer, from songwriting to producing a finished product, and all steps along the process. The band was greater than the sum of its parts because they all complimented each other, but it was Alvin's creative vision which made the band great.
I still have their 1968 record Here me calling /I'm Going Home, and used to play the songs on my guitar and never knew that they made other songs or became so famous.
This is fantastic 💎💫 Thanks Harri , one of the best grooves 🔥🎸🥁🎹
I got to see them twice in Miami in the late 60s. Never disappointed.
Thanks. My favourite band of all time. Leo Lyons on bass, Chick Churchill, keys, Ric Lee drums and the greatest guitarist ever, Alvin Lee, and vocals.
Wow. I've mentioned these guys a few times in the comments but I'm glad you finally got around to playing something more by them. That Woodstock performance of I'm going home that you covered earlier is iconic, but Alvin Lee didn't even really like it that much because it kind of put them in the position of everybody expecting him to be a speed freak on the guitar all the time, when the reality is they also have a Jazz background and can write really amazing stuff that can be psychedelic it can be acoustic it can be a wild Jam it's just amazing they even have one on a Later album that is the best borderline disco but mostly boogie dance song I have ever heard.
And don't forget the piano and drums, all four of these guys were totally Savage beasts, they were incredible. They have a very rich catalog that varies a lot. There's just so much to listen to and it's all so good. And this is one of their most revered albums along with a space and time, which had a monster hit with, I'd love to change the world. But man, go back to either their first or second album and they're doing a cover of Woody Herman's Wood Choppers ball, in Old Jazz big band classic, and they're trying to replicate all the sex lines and everything else with their four-piece band. I think it might be live but I'm not sure. Everybody in there just tears it up for like seven or eight minutes. It's incredible. And I believe the bass player is playing a stand-up bass on that. And he just totally rocks it.
it isn't bluesy it is a Blues song strait up.
One of my favorite groups I've had the pleasure of seeing live.
Heck yeah!!!! What a groove. I needed this.
Alvin Lee was considered to be a somewhat semi-God for his fast fingered
guitar work in the late 60's. He received a lot of interest after his feature in "Woodstock" the movie while blazing while playing "Going Home".
Me and my Baby...So bluesy, each featured instrument in this song.... amazing. Totally worth decifering for enjoyment. Right up your
alley Harri.Great reaction. Thanks Harri and Jim. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Absolutely !
Alvin Lee on guitar. Leo Lyons Bass guitar, Chick Churchill on keys, an Ric Lee on Drums. Great Album. Keep going there is no bad tune on it.
I haven't heard this in a long time thanks
Alvin Lee on guitar and Leo Lyons on bass guitar are rock legends, dude. Need to react to some of their live performances as well.
Strongly recommend “I Can’t Keep from Crying” (Winterland official video - 8/4/1975) Absolutely blow-minding!!!!
that 9s a real butt kicker!
Ten Years After! One of my favorite Bands. And don't forget to Boogie children 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦🤙
Ten years After is one of my favorite groups. This one is kinda Jazzy, but mostly they really rock.
Great! saludos desde México :)
Can't miss with this group ...all timers .
Great reaction! Could you react to The Bluest Blues by Alvin Lee. He was considered one of the fastest guitarists in his prime. He was the guitarist for 10 years after.
50,000 Miles Beneath My Brain is the best song from this album, sometimes referred to as the blues meet LSD...and Leo Lyons was a crazy bass player. Saw them live in Germany in 1974.
One of these days I there best song from the album A Space In Time
alvin lee was possibly the first of the speed metal guitarists /listen woodstock, goin' home!
Another vote for 50,000 Miles Beneath My Brain
This is fantastic. Great selection by Jim Buff 2000 and great reaction by Harri. Blues/rock? Rockabilly? Whatever one calls it, it’s pure enjoyment. Thanks 🌺✌️
Nah not their best....
A great backing band, but this group is all about Alvin Lee. Make no mistake about it!
Please! Listen to "The Bluest Blues", featuring George Harrison. The best blues guitar solo...ever.
Rock and roll music to the world is smoking hot
No its not just same old same old formula for wimpy teenies
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN I was a wimpy teenie so I guess it adds up. But the song still kicks with his awesome leads.
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN Actually I was just back from \/ietnam when it came out. Still wimpy but not a teeny
Super tune. Hey, Harri, not sure if you’ve heard this one, but it’s still a classic by Quick Silver Messenger Service- “What about me”.
czcams.com/video/zBvjXhUSUpU/video.html
Chet Powers sings it under the stage name “Dino Valenti.” As a songwriter, he used the name “Jesse Oris Farrow “. The philosophy of this song still applies:)
Great song...need Quick Silver
Why....not their best ....but top 40...should have done Sugar The Road
Thanks for posting. I noticed you have posted 3 vids today. i'm not surprised the views on this are greater than the other3 combined. people keep saying TYA is their fav band ever. down the line i'll suggest some more. i'm a 70 year old handicapped person and i have a wealth of experience i'd like to share before i go.
jimbuf2000 - Since when are 1.4K views greater than 8.4K views?
Great song! I still have the Cricklewood Green album but had forgotten this track. Alvin Lee is still one of my favorite guitarists. 'I'd Love to Change the World' by Ten Years After is one of my favorite rock songs of all time.
Nope too wimpy and top 40 trash made only cause they needed money as opposed to Sugar The Road from Cricklewood
Please do the song..."I'd like to change the world" by this same group...great song.
He did, I requested it and it's an amazing song
@@missblondie2393 ...nice, I'll find it.
Absolute horrible sell our song just for money...need somethings with balls Sugar The Road not teenie bopper wimp stuff
Ten Years After were a great band. Check out Rock and Roll Music to the World, Choo Choo Mama, You Give Me Lovin' or Think About the Times as examples. Very talented.
I just picked up this LP recently, but have several others on CD.
Nope those were awful Sugar The Road from Cricklewoon Green was way way better before they sold out to top 40 trash
Funny that most people call this blues, to me it is jazz.
Thanks for reacting to this great band!
No was blues till they sold out...especially when they did the top 40 trash Love to Change The World
@@DENVEROUTDOORMAN That actually is a good song, but out of their style and under pressure of the record company that wanted a hit.
Most important thing to note regarding that song is that Alvin could write a hit if he wanted to, but he (and the rest of the band) were note interested in hits.
Sadly that means we do not hear them on the radio, good thing is, this band is a gem we can cherish without it being commercially exploited.
Harri, if you like that one, you'll love this one:

Yeah ten years After was a phenomenal band . Another great band you should try is Peter green song rattlesnake shake by Fleetwood Mac . They where a fantastic band their first five years . They are my favorite ones for blues rock .
Anything in that early Peter Green era. Kinda got that blues rock feeling.
